While this video on the System Shock remake is sponsored by the game in question, the team were adamant that I retain full creative control over the project, with zero pressure to spin things or be anything other than honest-essentially just asking me to make a regular Writing on Games video like I normally would, just on a particular game.
This approach isn't free from ethical concerns, of course, but at the very least I can present you this information for you to process the information in the video how you see fit. As I say in the video, coverage on this game seems to have been very positive generally, so I'd recommend checking out videos from other creators as well to get a full understanding of what you're getting into. Hope that's all clear enough!

I'm a relative newcomer when it comes to the System Shock games, so when the opportunity arose to fight my way through the cyber-labyrinth of the Citadel in the form of Nightdive Studios recent remake of the original, I was curious to see how they might bring the series into the modern era. Turns out, the numerous subtle changes they've made mark a really respectable effort to maintain the mechanical and systemic identity of a game that helped put the immersive sim on the map. What it lacks in hand holding, it more than makes up for in every detail, visual or otherwise, conveying tone, narrative and atmosphere that goes way beyond the scope of the original-that, and it's just a complete blast to actually play. Let's talk about why in this analysis of the System Shock remake!
