Knowing what to charge clients for custom sewn garments is one of the BIGGEST challenges! Well in this episode Victoria and Gentleman Jim tackle the topic in a fun way by playing the game "Guess the Price"! Each take turns guessing what the other charges for some of their showcased custom garments. You as the viewer get to get in on the fun and guess too! Let's see how good you are at determining prices and the reasons behind them. This show will inspire you to think and create pricing that values your skills and talents and is fair to your client. If you need further help with pricing consider our Course "How to Price your Sewing Right" found here gumroad.com/l/HowToPriceYourS.... You can pre-order to get our low introductory price!!!

Great show! You two have contributed a vast wealth of information on pricing that so many of us have needed for so long! One of the worst things we do as sewists is under-price our time, work and effort! What especially struck me is how you both spoke about being upfront with people who have no idea of what'sinvolved in creating a well made garment! and try to play you cheap!! Too many people want the world for Walmart clearance prices and have the audacity to tell you how they can get the same thing cheaper somewhere else or how easy it is to sew the item! The same goes with alterations! If you're good at what you do speak the truth and those who don't want to hear it can take a hike! Keep on with your positivity and encouragement!

The 2 of you are so amazing. Thank you so very much. I am the Alterations manager for a bridal store. I love the company, I love the co-workers and I LOVE our Brides. I've been working so hard to help restore "Value" to this industry in my area and you have provided so much material to help make this possible. God Bless you both.

Mr. Jim and Victoria, Thank you both so much. I really enjoy your show. You two are speaking my language. I pray you will take to the roads on the east coast. Mr. Jim knows I called once in the pass just to ask him if he could come to the Maryland/DC area to teach. That was before KZfaq. However, NC is home. So anywhere between DC and the Carolinas sound great to me. I went back to check out last week. Loved the show. It really blessed me. Thanks so much.

I have a question about black women and church clothes, specifically hats. I know this is a bit off topic, but The Tailor and the Dressmaker are the best source I know to get the right answer. Here is the question. Did black ladies wear headwraps in church before the 1960s? I am doing show that takes place mainly in a black church in the 1950s. I have been asked to do hats for the ladies. We have opted to do headwraps for a couple of the ladies that need to cover their long braided extensions , which are too modern. One of the actresses says black women have always worn head wraps in church. I don't even recall seeing black women with braids until Cicely Tyson wore them on television. To my memory the trend of head wraps and a African styles came in in the 1960s. My research shows black women with pressed hair and hats when they were dressed up. What do you two say? It won't matter, but I would just like to know. Naturally, there are not many pictures of people in church in those days. Thanks for your answer, if you have time to answer.

Ase and thank you? I received my Bachelor's in fashion designing in 2003, yet due to burdens of bills and survival necessity's I did not start working on my line. Moreover, the money was not in our bank accounts to take more classes or find someone to guide us with some tutoring. We are working on vests, skirts and dresses and I have forgotten how to do some of the simple things as I drape and draft my new skirts and dresses. The vests we were having a hard time as well until we observed your video. I could not believe how easy it is to follow you. Thanks. Now I have to try to figure out my skirts I am working on now.Cher'ie Roslyn

I have always wondered how do you make use of a pattern when you have to make it for multiple clients/multiple sizes? Do you transfer to oak tag for each size? For personal use, you cut out your own size, but I mean if you want to re-use for other sizes.
