Through the woods so dark and cold
Met fair Bessy by the stone
Blissful Bessy so I’m told
Spoke to Bessy in the night
Whispers carried with the breeze
Soon her beauty turned to fright
Monstrous face among the trees
Run Jacobson run away
Blissful Bessy turns to doom
Find your boat before you stay
Or the forest be your tomb
Jacobson's heart raced in fear
Bessy's claws began to growl
Echoes of his silent tear
As he made his final vow
Row my boat across the lake
Far from Bessy's cruel embrace
Will not make the same mistake
Leave behind this dreadful place
