Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, August 2016. Finally got some epic footage using our Phantom 4 drone. Our first video on our beach trip this past summer. We climb the tallest lighthouse in North America on the hottest day of the year! haha The climb is 257 steps and it cost $6 per person. Great call on getting the drone! The footage is amazing. I visited relatives in NC years back and we went to this lighthouse because it's my mom's favorite. I believe it was closed at the time we went though. We will have to go back some day. -Peter

Crazy, they moved the lighthouse from the coast due to failing foundation! The latitude and longitude have changed from the engraving shown in the video! They do a whole story on " the move" they call it! Amazing feat of engineering! Thanks for watching guys!

Great video. Just seeing it now. Back when I used to go as a teenager on windsurfing trips, you could just walk up to it. We’d sit and have a few beers at the base. It wasn’t all boxed in like that. It was just…. There.

That's some pretty spectacular drone footage right there. A lot of stairs to climb. I've done climbs like that before, and they are tiring! Annette was tired just watching it. Very cool.

It's really hard to explain how stunning it is walking out the opening at the top! Partly because your super hot and out of breath, the wind hits you in the face and it's just joy! Loving the drone for sure!

+JEM Sessionz I can imagine! I suffer from Vertigo and I cannot do spiral stairs and would love to look at views like that! They would have to get me a pulley system to drag me IP the outside or Rapunzel's hair 😜

wooow guys. Pretty awesome. Still dizzy from that spinning staircase bit! Im always so amazed by the stability and clearness of your drone footage.. its so beautiful! Why would they drag a lighthouse away from the coast? Isnt the whole point that they sorta prevent titanics from happening 😅 :'D. Your vlogs are starting to turn into pro big screen moviemovies, know what I meaaaan? :p ❤u Guys!

Haha, yes! They had to move it because the foundation was eroding! It's still operational, I guess the ships just have to know not to get too close! Haha Glad you liked the video, Justin is super addicted to making them! Haha

Justin says it was more difficult, but only because he didn't know where things were. However, there is more flexibility wit FCP

How did you get permission to fly in a National Park? Did you not see the drones prohibited signs everywhere? I would love to legally fly there.

Ummmmm, yeah about that...... This was a couple of years ago, shortly after I bought my first drone. I took off from the beach and didn’t realize it was a national park. I would def not recommend flying here, luckily it was after hours otherwise I would have probably gotten into some serious trouble. I’ve since studied for the part 107 license, and cringe at some of the rules I was ignorant of in the beginning. Hope this helps, safe flying.

Very nice video, just love the drone footage. Don't think the wife and I would be able to make that climb unless it was in the cooler season. Did you have to get special permission to fly the drone around the lighthouse?

Haha, it was heat for sure.....brutal. Permission.........I decided to go with, it's better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. I waited till the park was closed so there wasn't concern for any people. I was a tad worried that a ranger would say something but, it was fine. Thanks for watching man, hope all is well!

Did you request permission from the NPS? Did you have any one bother you about flying around the lighthouse? We are going next month and I just got a DJI Phantom. I was kinda hoping I would be able to film it as you did but wasn't sure about the regulations around the lighthouse. Thanks.

Brandon Rollogas I waited until the park closed to fly. It closes pretty early, around five I think so there was still plenty of daylight and no people. I did not ask permission, so I wouldn't have any insight on that. Good luck, it's a beautiful place.
