He knew he could, but he promptly explained around the beginning ( when he grabbed the star below ground) that it has very slow animation involving looking at the watch and rewinding.

+Kevin Wells It's not really a joke, it's just mildly slower, a mere 1 or 2 second can matter when you're doing a speed run but not when you just play the game casually.Then it's not a big deal to watch a 1 second animation.

+itsmanofpopsicle Unless you literally have a toaster as your pc, you can achieve those FPS numbers by tuning your settings. If you look on Azorae's twitch VODs and find the one from the 15th of January, around the 1hrs15mins mark he has a tutorial for the game that also mentions some crucial settings for the run at the start of the tutorial.

Ouch that's unfortunate. You can try hunting for exploits and new strats if you want to do speedrun related Talos things but can't speedrun yourself. I had to stop speedrunning Quantum Conundrum because of technical issues too, it really sucks when it happens.

A Kind Hobo given the philosophical ideas behind this game, speed running it actually fits in rather well. You're continually defying Elohim by rejecting hit puzzles, and solving them in your own fashion.

+graduator14 Not really. The Stanley Parable wasn't filled with puzzles. This game can have some witty humor but I wouldn't say it's meant to be like The Stanley Parable.

The fact that the Narrators are both British and talking about abstract philosophies while breaking the 4th wall made it seem like there was a connection. :)

+graduator14 just because a game gets you thinking about things in a way you never did before it doesn't mean every game that does that is connected to the others that do the same. Talos was mainly born as a puzzle game, the philosophy part was added later to give the game a plot - that plot was mindblowing, sure, but it's not the core of the game. The Stanley Parable is entirely based on one gimmick that is the choice to obey/disobey the narrator; The Talos Principle is based on puzzles, the rest is just lore.
