Love the vocals on this version (slightly different to the chart version). The performance of the bewildered gentleman in the middle, only adds to the charm and authenticity of it for me. Not sure if he fell off the back of the stage or got bundled off towards the end. Magic!

Looks like a guy was asked to appear on top of the pops and last minute grabbed a few mates to back him up lol but I have always loved the song. There was one girl in 1969/70 who I always went to dance with when this played :)

I bet this band couldn't believe their luck scoring a number one hit in the UK. Seven years after its original release in 1964. Nearly a generation earlier. I believe the reason being, it's popularity on the northern soul scene prompting it's re release.

@Tom Burke If you compare Blockbuster to their earlier singles, it was complete change of direction for them. In reality, they were always a hard rocking band and probably hated the bublegum pop they had to release before Blockbuster.

Ever since I first saw this video I've always wanted to now what happened to the guy in the middle? He's there for the first half of the song then disappears? The way he's 'dancing' makes me think he was there to fill a gap! Great old tune though...

Horace Key, the departed member, was one of the regulars of the group. He was nicknamed "Sleepy" by his band friends. We used to see the Tams live every Tams Tuesday in Birmingham.

Why I came here to look I didn't see it at the time but a friend came to work next day laughing saying one of them fell over. Everyone watched top of the pops then

I noticed him early on as he looked a little out of it / out of sync. Then I thought camera was avoiding him until the last pan away at end where I saw he was gone. I thought he might've gotten queasy or sick and walked off stage.

You all don't seem to notice the middle backing "performer" being totally baffled about being there and dissapearing( dragged off to sober up) at the end..if that's a great band then their costume designer is a great talent too..shite
