The gentle tapping is a characteristic common to Shar-Pei. Mine do it as well and is irresistable.

My wife and I had three at one time, brother and sister and their half-sister. They each had their own "ways" to them. The bear-coat female would bang her paw on the bed frame when she wanted my attention. Her brother was the tapper. Their half-sister is the only one left, she just stands up and plants her front paws on the bed next to my head where I'm laying.

This is exactly what our Peis do..same patient face, but she's not going to let you ignore her. We get the paw & the face when foods around. Best breed in the world 😊

😂😂😂 my Shar pei usually gets a treat after he’s done eating his food. If, I don’t get it for him immediately and sit on my recliner he will paw at my arm. Yours reminded me of dog so much 😂

Because of this, I never eat anything my dogs can't eat. Can't handle the guilt lol. So now I basically eat fruits and veggies as snacks, bread and cheese or boiled eggs.

No way. My Shar-Pei mix does this same thing and he also presses on the bushes like that in order to try to make lizards go running out! I've never seen another dog that does it till now!

She reminds me of my friend's pug named Turbo. He was this quiet, sweet , gentle and the best cuddle bug. He would always come and sit next to me on the couch and tap then literally stomp me with both his feet if I didn't share anything with him. I remember once watching Netflix and he was literally stomping me for few minutes constantly and I was so engrossed that I didn't notice him. He usually never barks at anything but did this weird crying bark with those giant puppy eyes almost saying "C'mon man don't do this! ". He was sadly euthanized 2days ago because of the lockdown making it impossible to get him medical treatment for his skin condition on time. Though he wasn't my pet but I broke down upon hearing this because I never got the opportunity to meet him one last time. RIP buddy.

I've only met one Shar pi, they look amazing. I was at a friend's house, alone in the living room. In the corner was this really cute jet black teddy bear. I couldn't stop looking at it because it looked so nice. Then it moved! Really scared me as I'd been looking at it for a good 30-40 seconds. Is that common behaviour? Just to observe like that.

Sharpei breed were bred as Guard dogs for Chinese temples and emperors. I have a Sharpei /Beagle mix who will stand and study the surroundings as you would expect a guard dog.to do. It is very different from other breeds.

Yes, shar pei make excellent guard dogs, they are aloof with strangers and will study you. They tend to be a more quiet and intellectual breed than most others. They also have alot of cat like attributes, cleaning themselves, not so ready to please everyone...lol. They have a mind of their own💕Best breed imo.
