That does sound great! I've always wanted one of those decks. It's amazing what can be done with 8 tracks.

Analogue tape has a warmth that is hard to beat.

And the highs are very clear - I miss that deck. I used it in the mid 1990's with ease. When digital came along I just could not get the same tone - then there was all the money spent on tube mic pre amps and all that nonsense. The only bad thing was worrying about running down the cassette before you finished a song - but it never ate a tape on me

Great 8 track. I have a Toa MRT8 8 track that sounds really good too. Cassette recording is making a COMEBACK. You cant beat the warmth of analogue tape...

Cool album . Just listened on Spotify. Massive bass and low end ! So you recorded the vocals digital right ? Not on this vid of course . Very impressive production, and interesting recording method . Inspired me to dig out old 4 track for some real analog summing . 👍
@magicspiral33233 жыл бұрын
HelloKevinBoyle wow, thanks a lot! Yes, the vocals were recorded in Logic Pro. You should dig out that four track and experiment! Cheers! ✌🏼

Hey Landon! Great vid- I liked your album on Spotify. I'm looking at thee 238 to play backing tracks during my live set- sending the individual tracks to the PA (1-2 drums, 3-4 synths, etc). Do you have any experience with using this machine in a live setting?
@magicspiral3323 Жыл бұрын
Thanks Jason! Glad you enjoy the album! No, I haven’t used the 238 live. What’s your reason for wanting to use that for backing tracks live?
@JasonFarnham Жыл бұрын
@@magicspiral3323 thanks for the reply. I like the idea of playing to analog tape instead of software / a computer
@aliasname6028 ай бұрын
@@JasonFarnham i know a late reply, but vintage tape machines are prone to all sorts of maintenance issues, and are best babied in a studio.

What’s the difference in these and say a tascam 488 8 track ?? As they both go a similar price second hand
@magicspiral3323 Жыл бұрын
The 488 has a built in mixer, the 238 needs an external mixer.
@saren6538 Жыл бұрын
@@magicspiral3323 thanks so obviously then the 488 would be the choice over the 238 ? If they were both going at the same second hand price ?

Excellent, but it is only useful to professional musicians and studios. As for home use, I do not recommend it and eat many tapes, because of its high speed and it cannot be used the tape on both sides.

hi to all this model is not very good i had 2 my self and i am a tec the 4 track are better the one i have now plays back only
@bonno6663 жыл бұрын
Yes, a 4 track is better in theory, if you use 4 tracks and thats it. If you are doing overdubs, you often can loose the better sound quality and the stereo drums.
