9:17 That's mostly to show that as people get old "Young people" all get lumped in one box. As a teen I noticed it in a few comments by adults who'd just kinda assume I was way closer in age to kids who were to me way younger or older.

The whole thing about arranged marriages is something touched on in one of the history episodes where the narrator notes that in the past that the lower classes of soceity had fallen to extreme promiscutoy and secual liberty and when the weak in soceity has nothing to strive for they always resort to pleasure. This has been seen in our own recorded history mulitple times before and is happening as we speak and has been going for for rhe last 50-60 years. I'm not saying it politically but overly sexually liberated soceities have always been in decay. In lotgh this has happened muliple times up to where the anime picks up and after each downfall a uprising from the ideals that live on off men that hace long passed will rise again. The empire is a prussian styled one with old nordic mythology as its religion so something like arranged marriages would not at all be unsurpising to still be prevelant just 500 years after Rudolf violently reformed society into ehat he saw as right aka essentially a national socialist war state with very traditional values. It is illustrated too in how the old kaiser has many mistresses indicating a weak man losing himself in pleasure and Reinhard who abstains from simple pleasures or even meaninful relationships which yes leads him to his goal (but at what cost? G he would be lost w/o kiricheis and Hilda...) his loner thing causes many of his men to follow suit even to the point where a reasonable character like mittenmeyer notices that in his own men. Mittenmeyer and cazelnas on the yang side do a good job of showing neither extreme is healthy. Both poplin and Reinhard are lonely and they are on the extremes of each side of the spectrum both in terms of friendships and secual partners. Neither has enough meaninful relationships to be quite happy.

THe pilot for the sadly never gone through with english dub of the original OVA had Brad Swaile as Julian and it worked great. (Gundam TV series Amuro and Quatre from gundam wing) I almost called it an "Abortive dub" but given what just came out about Amuro's original Seiyuu... Yeah.

Shipping Yang and Reinhard, huh? Congratulations, that's one of the biggest ships in the series. I legit expected Reinhard and Kircheis to be the main husbands of this fandom, but I was wrong.
