2 point perspective is not new to me, i studied Technical Drafting on 12 grade so i have an idea. Sir grim is Right, if the 2 vanishing point is too close together, the object you're drawing looks unnatural and distorted. I never tried this technique coz I'm still learning the basics and i sill don't know how to cast shadow 🤣

really good tutorial, thank you! Just a question, so when doing more advaned graffiti, although almost all the letters´ lines are not going to the vanishing point, should be some of them still going to the vanishing point?
@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 3 жыл бұрын
any line that would normally be horizontal are now going to a vanishing point. Simple as that, curves and other angles dont necessity go to the VP (Vanishing point). The reason for this is theoretically if you have a block infront of you, you can cut any line, shape or form into that block so although your block will follow perspective, the lines you cut may not (for example the crack in the T in the blue and bronze piece.). With that said, and diagonal line that has pivit off a horizontal will go to a new vp above the actual vp on the horizon line. This will hardly ever happen though in graffiti although it can.Here is an example of that , say we have a box of doughnuts on the table (similar box to the video) then we open its lid, its lid is at an angle, the lines of the lid will go to a new vanishing point above the corresponding vanishing point.

@@Jerk_ANC oh I see I see, would you mind reaching out in instagram DM and I can show you there? Just let me know its you (say it's joke from YT or something in your first line). With that said in case you don't want to go that route, it really is imperative that you understand 1 point perspective first because if you understand how forms work with that then you'll be able to do this no issuem what I show here is the formula, this formula can be applied to any and all forms (including rounded E).

letter E that u drew was exactly square 90 angles but in most of graffiti letters are tilted, you should do a tutorial where u take 2d piece and turn it into 3d with same letters proportions in perspective and how they change, how u draw simple cube and then cut out rotated letters because you can hardly count vanishing point for them and so on. i suggest checkint this tutorial on how u can draw 2d shapes in perspective with same proportions kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hJ-YpM6qrNiygYk.html&ab_channel=ScottRobertson over all good tutorial, but i really wanna see like 30min video where u go way deeper and draw all those forms correctly in perspective!
@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 3 жыл бұрын
the reason I showed a simple e like that is because its a great starting place to help newer people keep it simple. Two point perspective isn't really something a newer graffiti artist will be able to do so with that said this tutorial is meant for advanced graffiti artists / artists and requires you already understand letters and form. also, i love his youtube, great artist with great info :D
@gahb4326

The technique? you mean basic perspective?
@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 3 жыл бұрын
Yup. In graffiti its seen as super advanced because most graffiti artists dont know 1 poin perspective.
@gahb4326
@gahb4326 3 жыл бұрын
why is that? Is it being a "toy" knowing the basics of art?
@Theartistblock
@Theartistblock 3 жыл бұрын
@@gahb4326 the reason most graffiti artists dont know 1 point perspective and the reason most find 2 point to be mega advanced is because when graffiti started despite being an art they didnt see it that way (at least the majority). The art of it wasnt the focus, rather the was the whole act of doing it illegally that was the focus and as a result they never bothered to study things like art and it's fundamentals. they were inspired by art for sure but most never actually studied it to any capacity, and instead they used just trial and error to figure things out. This is how we ended up with the watered down vanishing point perspective in graffiti that is a watered down version of 1 point perspective that doesnt use a horizon line, and we all know how bad that is. Yet this watered down version of 1 point perspective is even considered advanced despite the fact that its simpler than 1 point perspective.
@gahb4326
@gahb4326 3 жыл бұрын
@@Theartistblock I agree, initially Art wasn't the point of it, but nowadays It is different, I would have guessed that writers would "study" basic art rules especially that style is quite important these days so you can stand out of the rest. Anw its good youre taking the time to show those basics.

Lol no man you're fine I'm a no one too lol a youtube channel doesnt make me any better than anyone. I appreciate the feedback a ton, it's how we improve, and if you dont mind I'd like to explain why its shaded as it is. It's one of the highest points on the piece directly facing the light so it would receive more light and we also have to consider Lambert's emition law, essentially states that light values dont vary much and once they get to shadow then the values transition rapidly. This is why I have only a few light values and tons more shading, it gives much more realism this way
