The point of the video is that the 10 commandments are superseded by the law of love. Thus, we’re not required to know the 10, only the law of love. Besides, the real issue is not how much scripture one can recite, it’s how much one lives it. I appreciate you engaging thoughtfully. While you’ve been mostly respectful, you’ve thrown in a few snide remarks, which I don’t appreciate. If we’re going to engage any further let’s respect each other’s humanity and point of view even if we don’t agree. Fair enough? It seems like you know the Bible well. Are you an ex Christian? If so, why have you rejected the faith?

@biblemadeeasypodcast Apologies up front, you're just going to just have to deal with the occasional snide remark.... same as I have to deal with you making excuses for absurdities, interpreting the bible to dismiss obvious fiction, and avoiding inconvenient biblical problems. Oh, so now you're saying that you're not bound by the 10 commandments? That's an "interesting" perspective on the problem. My point is that the 10 commandments are such a cornerstone of the religion, yet 99.9% of Christians I talk to can't tell you what they are without looking, or point to where it is in the Bible. You saying it no longer applies is just another excuse, to dismiss the issue I brought up. I was once a theist, mostly because I was indoctrinated before I reached the age of reason.... but i began to read and fact check the Bible, then question the things you ignore and make excuses for. I couldn't bring myself to believe in what was clearly irrational. Then, I began a 35-year journey of research and study, both formal and informal. The fact is, whether or not you yet know or can accept it, religion is simply fiction and/or euhemerism used as a first attempt to explain what people didn't understand, and to gain and maintain power over people. If claims within it were true, it wouldn't need people like you to make excuses for it or argue fallaciously in their defense. You clearly haven't studied the history of your religion. I suggest you start there.... and not from an apologetic website, but from an unbiased academic resource. Start with the ancient, polytheistic Israelites and how Yahweh became their chief deity, then their only deity. Then you can learn about the origins and facts surrounding the anonymous gospels of the new Testament ,and how Mark was written first, then the others were subsequently plagiarized and embellished. Then, how the Roman Empire eventually made Christianity mandatory and outlawed all other religions, and used the church to gain and maintain wealth and political power. Learning and understanding everything takes time and effort.... and that's why there are soo many believers. Because blind faith, unquestioning acceptance, and adherence to what you're told to believe in without question is soo much easier..... being intellectually lazy always is. I see no reason to continue this conversation since you're not yet willing to be honest with yourself, much less me. have a nice day

@@manamanathegreat4986 I think I’m pretty aware of all the objections you’ve posed and more. People like you have been very diligent to point them out to me. But I choose to keep my faith, mostly because of the stated whole point of the Bible, which is to love my neighbour as myself (Matthew 22:36-40). We may not agree on much, but I think we can agree that loving others is a good thing, so let’s do our best. It’s been very interesting engaging with you. All the best to you and yours.
