From Ahmedabad to Mumbai, meet a young couple who made the shift and are now living in a peaceful part of South Mumbai.
How different are home prices in Mumbai vs Ahmedabad? Our Tenant says prices in a premium part of Ahmedabad are on par with a distant location in Mumbai - Mira Road.
Also, our Tenant says that a non-compliant Vastu home was a deal breaker for them.
Watch!

If she wants to cook, that's their lookout. If they can spend 56k in rent, they can surely afford a cook. Cooking a meal doesn't make her a homemaker and him a chauvinist. Just because they're living their life on their terms (in an old fashioned way) and are pretty successful in doing so, it makes everyone jealous. We should admire such young couples. Great job guys!

If they wanted a vastu compliant flat and they got it, good for them. I think they had enough courage to voice their opinion and be clear in their ask. And South Bombay is better than Matunga, any one of us would trade places if given an option, so right call there. Boss, if you're spending 56k and its better to spend it on your own terms!

As a lawyer, I understand her answer. She isn't complaining about vernacular language requirement but just telling her side of the story. Every lawyer knows the importance of regional language but since she doesn't know Marathi, it's relatively tough for her to practice. That's it. She isn't complaining or cribbing. As a couple, they seem extremely sorted with their own priorities. Its refreshing to see such clarity at this age.

Mumbai almost did become part of Gujarat before partition planning, historically Mumbai has always been Gujju dominated, and anyway proper Gujarat is merely 70 km away, Virar is anyway Gujarat. Being a vegetarian I do love Gujjus for that, but other than that I have nothing in common with them, they are usually superstitious, patriarchal, super greedy and they prefer their own kind (typical example shown here, though they seem like really nice people, I'd rent my flat to such people in a blink of an eye, as Gujjus are top in ethics).

This building is owned by the Shankarseth Family, who are the descendants of the great Maharashtrian Educationalist and Philanthropist Nana Jagannath Shankarseth. In the 18th century, such was his repute that Arabs, Afghans, and other foreign merchants chose to place their treasures in his custody rather than with banks, and he used to loan money even to the East India Company! He donated hundreds of acres of land to develop Mumbai and was involved in many public welfare works like building education institutes, railways, museums, theaters, etc. Due to his contribution, he is known as Mumbai's sculpturer, and this locality "Nana Chowk" is named after him.

it is always bad to use furniture, which has been used by others, not V. compliant, room inside must have plane walls, but this room has a column inside, which is not v. Compliant, Every practitioner of this narrative, has different elements in their arsenal, suiting their own business, so making it look fearful or compliant & friendly. The sun rises from one side & sets on the other side, & has been doing as such since the millennium without any V. in play.. But yes if that suits somebody, then it may give them that confidence to live & the slightest problem, everything will change, asked to change by the practitioners. This goes on, Live free!

I always thought FIR’s etc are in English and native language( I’m not a lawyer) just learning this. It’s really sad that property deeds and registration etc are also in local language because English and Hindi are the official languages. Also if people move to different states for jobs often they can pick up spoken but very hard to pick up written language( I learnt Kannada Bengali and punjabi from living in 3 different states but very hard to learn written language)

Whatever floats one's boat. However, for the first time, I fail to empathise with the featured tenants on this show. I mean, they want to stay within their own community, they didnt have the foresight that knowing the state language would be crucial to their jobs (how can a lawyer not know that), and they are sure about not settling down here...then Why on earth did they even move to Mumbai? Sure, they may earn more than their Ahmedabad counterparts but then, they are also spending a lot more here than in their hometown. Unless it's about not wanting to be in a dry state, I don't see the point of them coming here.
