I live in Northern BC. 2 arguments I always have and most people don't understand. More logging means more wildlife. More pipelines/power lines means more wildlife. More wolves means less wildlife. It is the opposite of what we get told.

Incorrect on everything but the wolves. Giant clearcuts are good for nothing but timber production and many are turned into monolithic sterile biological deserts called pine plantations...

Last few weeks they have been logging here in north central Minnesota. The deer hear the machines and head straight for them. I couldn't believe it. They love the tree tops, and chips.

Joe, same problem here in Michigan in the UP. They opened up wolf hunting one year then environmental groups shut it down. Wolves are killing deer left and right. It’s destroying the population. A sad day when politics takes priority over conservation. Hope things get better for both of us. Thanks for another video.

I was driving to Traverse City and I saw a wolf start to cross the road, he walked right in front of my car, slow and just stared at me like he didn’t have a care in the world. We hear them all the time at night, it is a big concern around where we live.

I'm sorry. But I was rasied on a farm. Many predators will diminish your farm animal population. I will protect my herd and flocks. However, I wish....If a wolf gets mine? It's its last meal. That includes coons and opossum and many large birds. I've watched a chicken hawk take a laying hen right out of the yard. I've seen owls take young kittens as well...

I hunted northern WI national forest for 23 years. Awesome deer hunting until the last 7 ish years after the wolves were re introduced to our area. Deer hunting totally dried up unless you were hunting near cabins where the locals were feeding. Also, it seems our logging became non existent, thus eliminating all the new aspen re generation which the deer love. After 20 years on the same road, last year dad explored new area and shot a nice buck. Happy Thanksgiving to you and the family.

I hunt NE Wisconsin (county and federal lands) and it's the same story here. I've been hunting the same area since the 60's and initially deer numbers were high. Now, they're extremely low. Now most of the areas that were cut and then burned in thte late 1800's early 1900's has grown into a much more mature forest. I think that's the primary reason why deer and grouse numbers are down but I wonder about CWD and whether a lot of deer have been suffering mortality due to that and we're just not seeing the evidence. Wolves don't help much but they seem to move small concentrations deer from one place to another. There will be wolf tracks for a while and then none. Our classic overwinter habitat was over-browsed something like 20 years ago and I suspect it has not come back. In any case, the deer population has plummeted in northern forest units.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I predict you aren't going to see many deer near the tent for many years. The wolves need to starve themselves out and then be properly controlled by fish and game. Good luck with that.

Sad thing mate …like here in Australia ..the doo gooders and snowflakes would rather the animals take care of each other ..which sometimes isn’t nice to see ..,than Have hunters control numbers ..and get a bit of food ….We have wild dogs ..no predators except man ..but they still cry if we take care of them ..sad old world it’s become

The intake for those heaters is actually the little hose. The flexible one that comes off the thing you pointed at is actually just the air that gets heated so having both of those tied in to the tent would be the best choice. Another thing you can do is you can make that intake hose much much longer and get it out-of-the-wayof the exhaust that’s the problem you’re smelling that diesel

BTW, they're doing some big clear cuts here in NE Wisconsin as well. And what happens is they usually come back dog hair thick popple that after about 3 years provides about zero deer habitat. It seems that without the 2nd part of creating deer habitat by logging, if fire is absent it doesn't do much for either deer or grouse. Edge is the answer and cutting alone does not do much. It takes more thought and manipulation than that. I think those big clear cuts don't really do what foresters have for years been saying they do. I walked right through the middle of one yesterday and didn't see a single deer track. In an area where 7 years ago I was happy to hunt. An area that in the late 60's had a large number of deer.

We have a saying here in Alberta Canada , the three S’s “ Shoot shovel and shut up” We had a Premier back in the 80s ( our version of Governor ) and there was a problem with cougars getting at farm livestock and no real “legal” solutions to the problem. He in a passing interview suggested that farmers “shoot shovel and shut up”. Meaning , sometimes you have to look after the problem yourself rather than fighting endless government red tape . Just a thought 🤔

I have a similar story. I've hunted northern Wisconsin where the wolves have changed the gun hunting here. Many years ago, it was nothing to see many deer during summer trips to the cabin. Starting in this area about 32 years ago during a week of hunting total count would be in the high 20's to low 30'ys for a full week. Then every ten years it trended downward. The last ten I've seen during that week 5 to 6 would be a norm observation Ihunters. Hunting camps that would dot the area have basically disappeared.

Until you get one of those grease catching screens from a kitchen supply store use some kabob skewers or anything else preferably non flammable that’s long enough and lay them across the rim of your cast iron frying pan, then lay paper towel over the skewers and the splatter of the bacon fat will hit the paper towel instead of ending up all over your stove, the wall AND of course your eye glasses. The paper towel and skewers is an effective way of catching grease without putting a lid or cover on the frying pan.

My buddies who live up there hunt at home, within 2 miles from Lake Superior... after they get their deer we go up to deer camp. I don’t bother with hunting myself, I just buy a 1/4 beef and 1/2 a hog from my local butcher, it's cheaper and I'm not a fan of venison.

Joe have you read the story about the cows and wolf incident up in Voyager’s?….Sheepshead road goes thru the park where wolves are protected. At the end of the road is private land where cattle were being raised. Wolves naturally were killing the cattle…dumb on the rancher because he knew the wolf situation, but even dumber on the State of Minnesota wasting your tax dollars because they placed a 8 foot fence 7 miles around the rancher’s property to protect his cows from wolves. You would think if the wolf predation problems was that bad that they would open a general hunting season to thin some of the MN wolf packs. My dad still has two huge black wolf rugs from when we lived in International Falls.
