There is only Terminator 1 and 2. There are no others.

Arnold’s performance as the Terminator is really undersold. Yeah, most of the time he isn’t lauded for acting ability (I do think he grew as an actor over time...not much range obviously but actually pretty charismatic), but it’s not nothing to believably depict a machine. He’s genuinely frightening in this-you believe he’s The Terminator. It’s in the physicality and the “deadness” in his eyes.

When Reese tells Sarah about the photo, and says he always wondered what she was thinking about when the picture was taken.... and then at the end you find out that she was thinking of him, telling their unborn son about his father. So that adds a whole other layer to the photo plotline. I've always thought that was a really genius bit of writing.

One of my favorite things about this movie is that it probably has the only "Man and woman in terrible danger take time out to have sex" scene in movie history that's actually important to the story.

Kyle Reese played by Michael Biehn was also Hicks in Aliens.

There’s one thing that gets me every time. Kyle said he always wondered what Sarah was thinking about when the photo was taken. She was thinking about him. That’s so romantic but sad.

OJ Simpson was almost cast as the title character, but James Cameron said that he was too much of a nice guy to play the role of a ruthless killer, but in 1994, the infamous murder of his wife and her friend happened. That's...a different story.

Weird fact: The boyfriend who stands up Sarah over her answering machine is voiced by James Cameron, who would go on to marry Linda Hamilton.

My favorite line in the movie is when Kyle tells her "It does not feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, EVER, until you are dead!"

There is definitely a window from the late 70's to the mid 90's that has some insanely good movies.

Samantha's reaction to the gun store owner getting shot and the realisation that Arnie is the bad guy in this film was just so genuine! It's funny because when this movie was released, Arnold had only one big film under his belt with Conan the Barbarian and was not known for "always being the hero." So it wasn't so much of a surprise for audiences in 1984 that Arnold was the villain. The real tension came from Reese as he follows/stalks Sarah and is somewhat mimicking the Terminator's actions (gathering weapons, looking through the phone book) and you're left guessing if he is there to kill her as well until the shootout in the nightclub.

The most important thing is that when that photograph of Sarah was taken she was thinking of Kyle, and in the future he would fall in love with Sarah looking at her in that photo imagining what Sarah would be thinking when that photo was taken. This was the most romantic thing James Cameron did in his career, far above the honeyed and pompous TITANIC
