On June 24, 2023, a Columbia County Sheriff's deputy in Lodi, WI, pulled over a vehicle for traffic violations. The driver displayed indicators of impairment such as slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. Upon being informed of her arrest on suspicion of OWI, she actively resisted the deputies.

Two questions: 1. Why don't the cops remind these offenders that the judge may be going to see their behavior from the body worn, dash and internal cameras and therefore make them act more adult like and behave? 2. What's the point of charging people if certain charges are just going to get dropped, when everything has been recorded on cameras?

What a load of BS these Tests are, When people are stopped like this They should be told they have a Choice, you can either take a road side test, or Blood test, Cops already have their mind made up a person has been drinking ) Even if they couldn't smell it, or detected slur in their speech ). And even if she had passed all those tests, he will still give the breath test, regardless. And if People think I am Full of Sht, I was Stopped one time and put through the same thing and when I passed every single thing they slapped at me, They still arrested me for Driving while intoxicated. I Don't Drink, Smoke, Vape or do drugs. Got a lawyer took it to court. When it was requested that the officer have some type of Reprimand, Nope, they were just doing their Job??? Trying to arrest a completely Sober driver for driving intoxicated was doing their job???

I got a DUI when i was 18. Didn't get pulled over, but I ended up wrecking the vehicle on the road next to my house. When the police showed up, I was still drunk, but I admitted that I did it and went silently to jail. I broke a societal rule and didn't fuss about it, I just accepted my punishment. I ended up with a 5000 dollar fine and 2 years probation. Had to do random breathalyzers and go to AA twice a week for the first year. The second year i had to do 200 hours of community service. It sucked but it taught me a lesson. Havent drank and drove since. I have a friend who's sister was killed by a drunk driver a couple years ago. I want the police to catch every one of these assholes, and I'm glad they caught me before i killed someone. The end.

All of this is cool, aside from the 'societal rule'... it's absolutely not that. See, the thing is, MOST rational and responsible people make those decisions when it comes to the actual driving, and choose not to do it while intoxicated. And ALL of us agree that you should accept your punishment if you weren't rational and responsible. You were a rational person, but not responsible. Here you are describing irrational and irresponsible as a 'societal rule' but if this were the case, then practically every car on the road would be a drunk driver. But that's not the case. Not even close. Just like the unhappy people are the loudest, and therefore the most seen, so are the irrational and irresponsible. TL;DR Don't put this bitches behavior on society... this is FAR from how the VAST majority of people act in these situations. Also hilarious how you prop yourself up on a pedistal to act like you're above the 'societal rule' which is to NOT drink and drive in the first fuckin place. That's literally a rule in society bud. Good that you learned your lesson, but you should probably suck yourself off a bit less when talking about it, because it's a lesson MOST human beings learn without the actual real world experience of doing it in the first fuckin place.

As a daughter of a mom who has multiples DUIs from the beginning of the 2000s... Im so glad my mom finally changed. If you need a ride that badly folks can call the fire department or the police for help. Especially in winter when you dont want to risk falling asleep in your car and dying of hypothermia which happens more often than youd think. Sober up with friends and come back to your car. Sober up in the car if you can do so safely without keys in the ignition. Call anyone you trust to come get you or contact someone who can. Its really never worth it. You can wreck your car, someone elses, damage property or run a light.. swerve into a person and kill them.. so many things can happen and do.

I live in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and our government worked really hard to make drink driving a social taboo. We had lots of tv adverts about how letting a friend drive after drinking makes you a terrible friend. It moves the focus to the population taking responsibility for drunk drivers. It’s taken over a decade but I’m 41 now and a paramedic for the last ten years. In the last ten years I have been to two accidents involving drunk/high drivers. It’s been a huge success and it’s an absolute social no no now. Really reducing the rate of this sort of nonsense!

Being a bartender has made me never want to be wasted in public. I am not a big drinker. I’ll have 1-3 tops on special occasions like a concert, and get an Uber even if I don’t feel tipsy, unless someone offers to DD. I don’t trust someone who just offers to drive and then they end up also drinking, even just lightly. I have been ran off the road by a drunk driver and was seriously hurt in that accident. But mostly, I’m dumbfounded by the people who really think they can lie and we’ll believe them. They don’t just lie about how much they drank to cops. They do it to bar staff. It’s like ‘I know you didn’t have one beer. You had 3 long islands and your friend bought you two Jell-O shots.’ They think I’ll just take their slurred words for it when they demand they are fine to drive. We can’t hold drunk people and keep them from driving in this state. It’s actually illegal. But we try our best to discourage them from driving and they often insist they are fine, like we don’t know what drunk looks like. I have met AA people who think that anyone who drinks even one drink a year is an alcoholic. Like I said, I’ll have a few maybe every few months, cut myself off at tipsy, and not drive or ride with someone drinking. I know how embarrassing it can look to be drunk in public. I remember a time when many adults drank responsibly, in moderation, for certain occasions beyond ‘it’s my day off tomorrow.’ It’s becoming less normal. But so many regular drinks and full blown alcoholics lie about it that it sounds like bullshit.

He and the other one escalated a situation with an intoxicated person resulting in charges the ADA dropped before the judge could throw them out. No Miranda warnings, etc. Didn't even give her a speeding ticket.

They want them to go out there to cause more crimes so they can tally up fines as much as they can. If they don't start paying...then there's is a warrent for arrest. That's what I think....

@@777sn2 you don't understand what public record is do you... she doesn't have to agree to have her face unblurred because body cam videos are public record and anyone can get them and put them up unblurred except in certain cases i.e. victims, minors, bystanders etc. The reality is if you don't want your face up on youtube unblurred during an disgraceful incident then don't commit crimes. They dropped half the charges on her because la crosse is a liberal county with a woke DA who believes in protecting the criminals and not the public.
