As Brazil approaches presidential elections, "The Territory" documents the struggle of the Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people in the Brazilian Amazon against the deforestation and destruction of their land by farmers and others illegally extracting resources, which has expanded under far-right President Jair Bolsonaro. We speak with director Alex Pritz and two people featured in the film, ahead of its release on Friday: Bitaté Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, an Uru-eu-wau-wau leader, and activist Neidinha Bandeira. "The Indigenous populations [in Brazil] are being massacred," says Uru-Eu-Wau-Wau, who helped film how his people are fighting to preserve nearly 7,000 square miles of their territory. "We will never stop fighting for our territory and for our rights."

Colonizers and colonization is the same no matter the country or skin color. It's a complete tragedy, with all we know about the horrors of America's sins, other countries are using the US model for the eradication of indigenous people. This is the result when countries cannot acknowledge, understand, educate, and give reparation for its terrible past.

Maybe you should encourage farmers to do small scale multicultural farms in Brazil. That way they can get more crops and less deforestation. The small scale farms with multiple crops on it can help heal soil and cut down on deforestation in Brazil. Also local people can get the food they need.

None of this (meaning the exploitation of nature and of people by people) would exist, that native indigenous populations would be an obstacle to the success and vitality of a nation if the stability, success and vitality of a nation did not depend on its share of the world market for the products it can extract from its own natural resources or from any rainforest in the world. Nations have to ask themselves what is the purpose of a nation if what counts more is its productive capacity and how much of the world market each nation is in competition for defines a nation? What is a nation if it works for an object and and dismisses its needs in all its subjects?

(in the u.s/canada, some frack, mine, drill, dump toxins, since the removal, and/or marginalization, of north american indigenous ppls)..
