Got see Testament in Pensacola Florida in 1987 opening for Anthrax at the same theater that SRV recorded his last video Saenger Theater. My friend and I drove from Fort Walton Beach Florida in my 1970 Camaro and a Santa Rosa Sheriff Deputy sped past us so we got behind him on US 98 doing 100 mph with everyone moving out of the way. We got to Pensacola, which is about 40 miles from Fort Walton Beach, in about 20 minutes. I wasn't sure where the theater was so we saw 5 guys with leather and denim and long hair and figured they were going to the show. We pulled over and asked them where the Saeger was and they told us. As we pulled away we realized that the 5 guys were Testament. I raced around the block to catch them again but they were gone. Show was spectacular.

This is such a cool video. I’ve only got into Testament on the past 6-12 months so haven’t listened in depth to everything but I have listened to most of their albums. Some riffs that really stick out to me that kind of popped out head of shoulders above the barrage of metal I was listening is; Children of the Next Level (Titans of Creation album) - the two interlude riffs, heavy one at 2:31 which moves into octave riff at 2:53 Eyes of Wrath (The Gathering album) - outro riff that starts at 3:58 3 Days in Darkness (The Gathering album) - Octave riff with vocal chants at 1:35 I know these are from recent albums, I love their earlier stuff but I find these riffs so catchy

Great to see you do Testament, epic band!! For many it's Metallica, Megadeth then Testament but for me it's the exact reverse, hugely underrated with every member a beast on their respective instruments. Skolnick is a virtuoso and I love their early stuff but must admit I'm just as keen on Demonic and The Gathering when he was away as well, I love the more heavy melodic style and Chuck getting into some growling! Would love to see a top 10 for the mighty Priest at some stage as I know you've done a bit thier stuff before. \m/

Testament is and always has been my all time favorite Band! Got to see them with Annihilator back in the day. Saw them in the Low tour and saw them with Forbidden in '96 at the House of Blues in Chicago. This was between Low and Demonic and The Gathering James Murphy was in the band during that time, Forbidden was touring for Distortion. Awesome show! I was front row the whole time head banging and going hoarse from shouting the lyrics and the coolest moment for me was as Chuck Billy was saying good night to the crowd, James Murphy walked over, grabbed my hand and gave me his guitar pick. Cool memory.

They talk about the process of making Brotherhood of the Snake as if to excuse its quality for being subpar, but it is an unbelievably good album. So many different musical ideas and concepts, the riffs, the solos, GENE HOGLAN, its almost too much if that were possible. The transcendent bliss of Stronghold and Neptune Spear's solos or the teeth-clenching riffs of The Number Game or Centuries of Suffering are highlights, as well as the bluesy harmony in Black Jack (really like that part!). I feel so blessed to have discovered Testament. One of my absolute favorite bands and since Low they haven't put out a record I don't love.
