It's baffling that two of the largest metro areas in the United States are just 240 miles apart. Most people tend to drive between Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston, however, flying is the other option. There are sadly no trains between the two metropolises but that will change at some point. While traveling from DFW to Orlando, I first caught a flight to Houston on the United Express E175. Long story short, it was a decent flight but I wasn't impressed.

1,000s fly between the two everyday for work, may making same day returns. Not sure where you get that it is crazy to do. It is bread-and-butter for Southwest, but AA and UA care those pax also. No one drives for 9 hours a day for a day trip for business. JSX flies it also.

My first and only time flying into DFW was in December of 1975; we landed in a terrible thunderstorm. The sales agent told my mother and I, "You need gate 16 - it's a country mile that way." It was dumping down rain when we pulled into Greater Cincinnati. The flight originated in Phoenix Sky Harbor.

Hi, my name is Bill.. Hey I use to wing walk these babies. I like these planes.. there far better then those CRJ 200.. Those things are cramped for sure.. I'll be glad when UAL tells it's Express Operators to retire them or stop using them for United Express flying.. Anyway. I love your wing views on this flight and probably even other wing views but these ones are outstanding views.. Yes I've seen them lower the flaps as I would be walking the wing.. especially on these planes.. I know it doesn't have a head rest and that's your opinion over mine but times I've been on them I always thought they were still comfortable enough for E175.. I must say I really enjoyed this video of our E175.. You did a great job on it.. Get me some more awsome wing views.. :)

I love all the E-Jets because of the 2+2 seating. They are roomy, and they really revolutionized regional jet service. I have also heard the new A220s are quite nice, despite being five abreast (which is still preferable to six abreast). One reason why I love the Boeing 767 is because most airlines were decent enough to configure them with 2 + 3 + 2 seating in coach, which minimized the amount of middle seats. This was especially pleasurable around the year 2000 when American briefly took out several rows of seats for their short lived “More Room Throughout Coach” initiative

When I flew the 175 for SkyWest we put the flaps out during pushback too. Only type I've ever done that in. I think it's because it takes like 25 seconds for the flaps to move from up to 1

Thankfully with Frontier opening a route to DFW - IAH, The market realized it has been one of the most under valued - over priced routes. Look under May now, all competitors prices for one way flights are $49 United & American, following suit to a low cost airline. Even southwest cut their prices from hobby and IAH. No more bus rides finally.

I have done day trips from ORD to ATL. I know people who do day trips between ORD and LGA, as well as ATL and LGA. So, a day trip between DFW/DAL and IAD/HOU is not crazy. It's 4.5 hours between Houston and Arlington. If you drive that, you either have a very, very long day, or you have to spend the night.

IAH being my home airport, while I haven't flown IAH-DFW exclusively ever, I did fly SWA (Terminal A) IAH-DAL last month on the way to MDW for the Chicago Auto Show. Paying only $7.11 up front for your itinerary ORD-DFW-IAH-MCO is a bargain! Cannot believe TSA was backed up at DFW at four in the morning! Thankfully you had an option! As to your flight credit, I have a $300 one with SWA which I intend to cash in for a Christmas family visit in Tucson--this was when SWA had their infamous meltdown and I ended driving home from Corpus Christi that Christmas Eve.

That kind of connection through DAL was for many years impossible due to the Wright Amendment (which was passed at the behest of AA, Braniff and Delta, who were opposed to continued short haul flights out of Love Field. Love Field is also the inspiration for Southwest’s LUV ticker symbol
