Batteries would be like 18 years old. No wonder they don’t hold a charge anymore
@capemron633012 күн бұрын
Mine do, same with my DualShock 3s. I'm a weirdo though, I charge them every 6 months to maintain the batteries like I do with all my handhelds and wireless controllers.
@xjiebushek300710 күн бұрын
no, batteries last a very long time if you don’t use them at all, 1 year ago my friend found a sealed HP PDA from 2004, it had a battery with almost no capacity wear
@JessicaFEREM7 күн бұрын
I have a explodey era dell from over 20 years ago that still holds a charge.

@@xjiebushek3007you do realize batteries are prone to completely dying from no use over long periods of time like that? You got lucky with a good, old battery

You had two chargers connected at the same time, both powering the PSP; bad idea. Definitely caused over-voltage, or at least too much amperage going through the whole thing at the same time...
@Schnell_Things13 күн бұрын
Yea.... It definitely wasn't smart. Sure was thick though.

Too much amperage? Wont the device use as many amps as it needs? As for overvoltage youd have to put the adapters in series
@lolcat11 күн бұрын
It uses a psp battery because they have drm on them. It doesn't work with any old battery. Those chinese ones use chips that fool the system but i imagine the madcatz battery wasn't aware a 2200mah battery existed
@dovahkiin379615 күн бұрын
There's a way of essentially jump starting old batteries, usually used on power tool batteries that won't charge

I’ve pet sematary’d lithium batteries before and it’s quite the dice roll. Usually they begin their puffy decay by doing that.

You compelled me to buy a psp this week after your videos popped up. Bought an IPS modded 1000 off one of the most reputable sellers on eBay. Sadly there was an eyelash and dust behind the screen and the screw is super stripped above the memory stick! Big sad, gonna return it and try again.. do you have any sellers you could recommend?
@Schnell_Things16 күн бұрын
Unfortunately no. You just kinda have to get lucky on eBay in my experience. Even great sellers can be rough sometimes.
@lolcat11 күн бұрын
you can fix that yourself, use a bigger screw bit. the bezel comes off easy then just blow the screen with compressed air. or hell you can mod it yourself it doesn't need any soldering

You probably triggered some protection in the battery. I tried connecting a similar battery of the same brand to a STEM Toy with a fan motor. The fan ended up cutting paper lol and tried to connect it to something else and it didn't work. The battery ended up working later after "charging" it with the PSP.

You should look into getting a Slitit or ZipIt package opener instead of taking a knife to everything. I always wanted a PSP 3000 MHB for the ergonomics but when that was new, I was too young to afford importing it.
@Schnell_Things15 күн бұрын
I didn't know that was a thing! Thanks for the recommendation. Some day I'll get one of those Monster Hunter PSPs... Alot of fakes and reproductions out there now :(

How you charged the two batteries seems like what caused the problems As per the harddrive... is it possible to put something over that ribbon cable? Is it possible to upgrade that harddrive?
@Schnell_Things11 күн бұрын
Yea... Charging everything at once wasn't my best idea lol. As for the HDD Ive tried to remove it from the board but it just won't budge. Not sure what I would be able to replace it with tbh. It's hard to beat micro SD to memory stick duo adapters.

I'm gonna warn you and everyone reading this right now and maybe they can be proactive on it: When you get arthritis finally, you WILL think the PSP 1000 is impossible to use. When you have the condition, it isn't ergonomic, it's painful and completely unplayable. If you think your hands are starting to get old SELL YOUR 1000 AND BUY A 2000/3000! Best PSP choice in my life.
@patdurt0237 күн бұрын
2 batteries connected together in parallel will Equalizer the voltage to the same amount between both batteries However if 1 battery is totally dead, it will flatten the second battery trying to level out both voltages. I hope your battery is recoverable after a few charges in theory , I hope. If not I'm sorry man

I fucking love psps, the resolution is disgusting after working in an office with proper PCs though. It could be your battery got drained below nominal by other batteries. The madcatz could have been "stealing" voltage. I have 3004. Still works, original battery.
