I saw this as a child. The Kordas were considered the rivals of Disney. Sabu was a little boy when he was recruited for the lead in "Elephant Boy" which we saw on our brand new tv set in 1950. Black and white. He was in the first Jungle Book. He was an actual mahout in training and he was a very fast learner of English. This movie is sooo much better than Disney's Aladdin and when you think of the special effects in 1940 it is quite amazing.

Disney Studios' "Aladdin" was made in a time of political correctness & it was as stretched, bent, strained, to the point of unwatchabiliness, like Mulder's cheeks when he was alien-tortured (season 7 ?).

Although the credits are in German, the movie is in English. You kids are in for a treat. This is a classic of fantasy, adventure, and romance. Filmmaking was way better back than. Trust me.

This is a movie from my childhood! I absolutely LOVE THIS MOVIE I never ever get tired of it! 💕🥳 My dad, who passed away when I was 12, brought this movie home one day when I was maybe like 8? My siblings and I grew up watching it and I absolutely fell in LOVE because my favorite movie was Disney’s Aladdin! Such nostalgia watching this movie every time ☺️🕊🤍

Wonderful film. And the Video Blu-ray (I presume this must be a Blu-ray) is very Sharp. I hadn't seen film and I've enjoyed watching it very much. The movie is very entertaining and campy. Thanks so much for uploading this film 🎉

Some outstanding films were made in 40's . No C.G.I. , just cool props and trick photography .❤😊 I've said on other comments , movies such as this could be made with modern tech. They may look good but would lack charm .😊😊

This has been happening, for a long, long time! My dad never brought it home, though. I saw it, first, because my siblings watched it before, I saw it. The boy, did "The jungle book" also. I loved them both! I was born in 1962, 60 years old, I still love them! Thank you, again! 😊

ALWAYS one of my favorite FILMS of all time and beautiful Soundtrack ! As a kid and POC with love for the exotic, adventure, special efx and fantasies of traveling the world, I related to SABU (The Thief) so much! This film includes the BEST PICKUP LINE EVER

I recall enjoying this when it was first released. This is stated as 1940, but maybe it took until 1942 to be seen in a neighborhood theater in Vancouver, when I was 6 years old.

@@jonhohensee3258 I saw this movie at a theater near my home in 1952 while just turning 5. The scene I remember most is that of Sabu holding on the giant's hair while sailing through the air, & thought "serve the villain giant right !". 3 years later in May 1955, violent street fighting between factions burnt down the theater. Yet it was rebuilt & I was able to enjoy many reruns of my favorites like "The Steel Bayonet" & "Battle Of The River Plate" among others, until 1965.
