Hello! I have to give Andrew credit for stearing me your way. I love seeing all your projects. They are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your health issues and please take care of yourself as migraines are so difficult. My son has them and he just needs a place to rest and recover when they occur. It will be a delight to get a notification when your podcast comes up but please don't feel pressure to record when you aren't feeling well. We will be here no matter what. Also just accept my comment and don't feel like you have to always respond. I really just like supporting podcasters and their beautiful work and tips. Happy knitting!

I finally had a moment to watch this. Your podcast is like a special treat each time . I thoroughly enjoyed hearing you on the why I knit podcast. Such a good show! I, too, suffer from migraines and have played the medication, food, and stress management game. So consuming! I am thankful for knitting as an activity I can do more often them not, and I am thankful for the community of knitters I am able to connect with. I'm grateful you are a part of that!

Hiya, nice to virtually meet you. As somebody who used to suffer awful migraines especially when my kids were young (although thankfully not as bad as yours), but as I grew older they have dissipated. I’m a young 70 retired nurse and hail from East Kilbride. Knitting since a young lassie and still learning. Thank you so much, enjoyed your post. Take care and I look forward to future posts.🤗

Thank you for your calm episode today. Lovely to see your knits. A couple of years ago I made my grandsons hot water bottles from 2 of my husbands commercially produced jumpers. I shrunk them in the washing machine and completed the process in the tumble drier. I made a pattern by drawing around the bottle. Three pieces so that there was a flap to get the bottle in and out. Using a jeans needle I managed to stitch it on the machine. Take care of yourself. 🇬🇧

He recommend you to his viewers as you said and so far, I’m all over the sweater you are wearing. WOW. It is very feminine and right now the way knits are becoming. Hello dear Ailie - I was so very pleased to see your new podcast come up - I always enjoy your projects - I adore the socks but yes the colourwork does make it tricky!! I’m really enjoying one of my current projects for my 21 month old granddaughter - it’s a farmyard scene with beautiful white sheep (no Australian sheep are white btw - more a roll in the dirt beige 😮 - I’m so loving seeing the different objects appear! And yes Jen in South Australia - I’m totally with you - although I’m just about as far south as you can go in Tasmania we’ve had 37 and 35 in the last few days - yuck-thank heavens for air conditioning in the car today!!

Welcome Suzanne 💗👋 I’m so glad you’ve joined us. It was really fun felting the old jumper, although I definitely overdid it with a full hour at 60°C in the machine…the fabric was so dense that once I finished sewing up my hot water bottle cover it was useless, because it didn’t let enough heat through! Slippers sound like a good idea though 👍

Sorry to hear of the migraines. You do remarkably well! I forget words and stumble all over the place as I live with a constant low-level brain fog that is chronic depression related. Knitting is great therapy and creates escape and relief along the way. 'It's a sair fecht', as they say. Keep on going! 😊

I think you might like the Why I Knit audio podcast if you ever have time to listen. It’s an affirming and uplifting listen.

@@TheThoughtfulKnitter yeah, I've heard you speak about the podcast, but still to get round to watching...will make an aim for it later on! First. Go the jumper cohort. Being Australian I learnt British terminology and also am not comfortable with sweater. I mean who wants to think about “sweat” in relation to our much loved made garments lol. And most importantly may you have plentiful “well” moments over the coming months and know there is loving energy being sent your way from all over the world. Take care xox

I'm so sorry you are suffering with migraines. I hope your new meds help. I love the idea of reusing old projects. I have a sweater of my hubby's that was accidentally slightly felted, and I probably need to felt it even more. Can you please tell me what you'll be making with the felted fabric? I was hoping to perhaps make some sort of project bag. Thanks for a lovely podcast! Bring on Spring!!! 💗🌺🌞

It was a happy surprise to see this episode waiting for me! I love the idea of felting things that need to be repurposed. The socks are adorable, but I can see why color work socks would be difficult. Finally, I finished my big, beautiful Hiraeth Shawl, and some color work mitts. I now have a fingering weight jumper on the needles, along with an Abundance Cowl. I hope you can soak up the good wishes coming your way (we all go through stuff, and need the good energy of others to keep flowing through). Hi Ailie, your podcast was just what I needed this evening. I'm knitting on a Twigs jersey - I've wanted to make this pattern since I begun knitting and feel confident enough in my abilities now. I grew up North of Inverness, my mam is from the Black Isle and Dad from Huntly and we always called woolen garments a jersey. Whenever I read about jumpers I always considered that an English term so it just goes to show the variation, even within a region. Like you though I persist with the words I was brought up with, I feel it's important somehow! I had to laugh along with you when you showed your shrunken jersey - imagine if that had been done unintentionally :( I really like your crochet cardigan, such beautiful colours. I've always had occasional ocular migraine but during menopause they became much more frequent and I then realised how exhausting they were. I can't imagine how debilitating yours must be. I really hope the new treatments work for you and that there are not too many side-effects. Enjoy the spring, the nights are really drawing out now. x

Yes, jersey and gansey are other words I use for the same thing. I’m wondering if I’ve maybe ended up saying jumper more due to the influence of tv/internet/living elsewhere 🤔 I make a conscious effort to hold onto my mother tongue as it’s fast disappearing…I was born right at the beginning of the Millenial generation, so globalisation has had a big impact during my adult life; I definitely notice that those younger than me use far fewer dialect words than I do. Mind you, I’ve somehow become someone who says ‘yarn’ instead of ‘wool’, but that’s 100% due to through repeated exposure in the knitting community! The lengthening days are such a joy, I love Spring 🌱

It is always lovely to have your company and to see your projects, even the "unprojects" - it must have felt good to take the plunge and stick that pretty yellow jumper into the washing machine to turn it into something useful. I am crocheting a blanket for your CoorieinMAL; I am not a crocheter but I am finding it so very addictive and definitely a yarn-eating project. Good luck with the new medications, I hope they work for you, and don't worry one bit about having the time or energy to film for episodes. We'll be there when you can podcast. Take care!

Too hot to do anything much! I have been itching since about November last year to knit a lightweight top out of a nice sport-weight merino/linen yarn I have, but it has been just too hot - sweaty hands and irritability are the order of the day.
