+Catorce, Nice Video! Apologies for the intrusion, I would appreciate your opinion. Have you tried - Paneevelyn Swinging Clubsman (do a search on google)? It is a smashing exclusive guide for revealing an effortless golf swing technique minus the hard work. Ive heard some awesome things about it and my mate after many years got great results with it.

Revisited this - Still one of the best videos on pitching - most will benefit trying them all for which feels easiest to execute but there is no substitute for trying them out on different situations from rough to tight lies etc . You need to put the time in .......Well done Peter.

One the best pitching options videos. This carries over to the full swing. The 1st is a good standard shot. My swing thought is often lean left, stay left.. the 2nd is the hardest to do but most versatile for ball flights and holds the target line.. swing thought is deliver the hinge.. hinge & hold has the most backspin.. it is easy to blade if played too far forward in the stance.. but u can change ball directions midswing! the 3rd is great for tight lines and beginners. It actually has less spin and is good for flighting shots. It tends to carry less but kicks fwd whereas the 1st technique travels further with more check spin. Pitch 3 is most forgiving

I love to strike the ball and you are very right about the spin. My friends always have no clue how i put so much spin on my pitches. 2nd is the best for spin.

i have been watching loads of your videos and games with Rick Siels during lockdown, and having a bit of a practice in my garden on some techniques. i got to play for the first time a week ago with my usual golf buddy, we played the usual stableford scoring that we always do. over the past few years my average stableford score has been around 22, but this game i scored 37 !! i actually made two pars! and my approach shots were delightfull! i was putting the ball on the green nearly every time once i was within 140 yds !! it must have been down to your videos,,, there is no other reason. great stuff. and thanks a mill.

I´ve always used just the first pitching method and relied on running the ball in towards the hole. That´s fine if you have plenty of green to go at. But then I bought a new 56 degree Vokey wedge and kind of accidentally discovered the 2nd hinge and hold method. I was amazed how fast the ball stopped! first time from about 45 yards to within 2 feet of the pin. Now I just have to work out the distances as I´m sometimes leaving myself some distance short on the green. Great tips as always Pete, keep up the good work :)
@tjshine8022
@tjshine8022 7 жыл бұрын
Pete, great video. I've always found better results using the linear technique close to the greens (within 10 yards) because it really takes the "angle miss" out and all I have to worry about is distance and how much roll I want. I use the second one for longer pitches that I want to drop and stop close to the pin. Thanks!

I was using the linear technique for a while and was giving me success, but I've recently gone to the first one you did, which is really good even for just off the greens. I would still use linear if i was to go over a bunker. Great Vid.

Great video Peter. For me the second is more complicated (club hinge is less easy to repeat with the same angle). The first is the more traditional but with the time (and best golf level)(hcp 1) I use the third. I think it's the best for me for control distance, ball contact because of no manipulation of the bounce, great with all turff and to control the back spin. For me less hands more control and repetition (like J.Day in your other video). Thanks and keep doing videos. Rico

Solid instruction, Mr Finch, and all three techniques will work under the right circumstances. I've tried 'em all and, IMO, James Siekman has the absolute best wedge techniques and his stable of Tour players validates the approach. More of a blend of the first & third techniques illustrated here with a couple of key improvements. Real test to me is does a technique stand up under differing conditions and pressure. Siekman's stuff does and is simple to learn and execute... with practice like anything. Predictable, dependable results with multiple ball flight options all from basically two simple set-up positions with two backswing lengths. To hit really good wedge shots one must have clubbed speed to bore the ball through the air and ball spin to stop the pitch. The third way is throwing a ball vertical which, unless you're trying to flop the ball, is really a "hit-and-Hope" approach close to technique two. Striking the ball first is paramount especially from closely mown turf. Hands even or slightly ahead with sternum turned slightly left to point in front of the ball produces an ideal angle of attack with control. Combine 1 & 3 with 80% of the weight on the left thigh and it's very close. Cheers!

+72RocknRoll I've got Sieckmann's book "Your Shortgame Solution" too. It is a great book and the techniques are very stable and controllable. Detailed description. Instruction for detecting and correcting your foulds. Includes practice schemes. When mastered, you just know you knock the ball close to the pin. There is no longer any doubt.

I tend to use the hinge and hold, but I have used the other techniques too. I find the lateral one is good for me when getting over water, which I have used on several occasions now. Having all these techniques in your arsenal is a good thing as it makes you a more versatile player. My main issue with the short game is judging distance, so for me having the right club for the job is important. Great instructions BTW

1st method great most most normal pitch shots. 2nd method great from the rough club comes down more vertically and digs the balls out. 3rd method great for getting to pins that are close to the front of the green as the ball flys higher and sits on landing, but for me the bread and butter method is the first one as well. All three methods have there place though depending on the shot situation. Great video Peter.

Been working on the Linear technique with my coach as it eliminates angles and theoretically makes things easier as it's more of a back and threw in one motion. Also taking the movement into my chipping and also full swing. Early days yet but hopefully it'll help me get down to single figures in the next year or two.

i was wondering, what club would u say is most consistent from around the green, my problem with chip shots is i really dont know what club to use, typically when i do it, i just use my 60 degree, like the closer i am to the green the smaller the wedge that i use, but i dont think i should do that cause i tend to leave myself long putts, but i dont really know what i should use instead

+Peter Finch Golf Hi Peter, i've been doing some testing over the last few days trying all 3 techniques with my 50, 54 & 58 degree wedges from fairway at 20 yards and light rough at 25 yards. I've generally been using my 54 around the green with something close to the "Triangle" method. It was therefore not really a surprise that this is what worked best for me. Interestingly though I got really good results with the "Hinge & Hold" technique and particularly with the 58, although bad shots with this method tended to be really bad. I didn't get on with the "Linear" method at all; it just felt really awkward though I could see how the different ball flight might work in certain situations. Thanks for the tips.

Pete like your videos but I am not sure the that Gary Smith how champions the Linear Method for the shot game would fully agree with your technique and he advocates that for this technique, having a quite left hand (RH Golfer) and releasing the right hand more. I suppose it just shows the are many different ways to get the same result

Great video,all about what you should do. Not all the negative crap demoing all the faults. Most spend time 50/50 on faults and the correct way so which one sinks in is 50/50 if you didn’t have fault before there is a good chance you might afterwards.

When you calibrate your distance, do you concentrate more on the carry ? Where I practice at has some long grass and the roll is fairly short compared to a nice green? Any tip on how to go about this?

+Jancen I always calculate carry, then try to judge the conditions to estimate how much roll there will be
