One of the many blessings about being human is that we FEEL so deeply if we are connected. Part of our culture and society tells us one of two things, you are your emotions, or your emotions are weakness. The truth is, our emotions just give us a deeper and more profound experience as humans. Feeling them is part of why we all signed up for this crazy thing (called life). But for your Soul to hold the wheel and not your raw emotional space, you have to teach yourself how to be present, in the now moment, and become conscious of how you feel. And then to honour this, not to worship it, but to accept it, feel it, and get back to being your highest Soul expression, as a coherent balanced feeling being within the world.
Our power comes through balance, self knowing, and coherence, that requires our emotions to be present and known, but not to run the show.
