Josh always starts cold, last year the same argument was made and he ended up bein key to the thunder's late season push logging in a near 30pt triple double in the playin. I fully trust that the coaching staff is capable enough to figure it out. He is also not as bad as a shooter as he has been this season, last season he improved a lot under Chip England and this year he is just having a rought start. He'll figure it out

Giddey is a passer not a high volume scorer so im not worried as much. The one thing that must change is sometimes giddey misses layups he has to remove those deficincies especially in the fast break

There's no doubt about his talent for me, his fit is questionable though. SGA is the PG this season and they are using JDub as a second ball-handler more than Giddey so his best asset is not being utilized

He’s a great passer problem is SGA is best with the ball in his hands breaking down the defense with shooters all around and a big rolling to the basket. If he can’t consistently hit a three he hurts Shais ability to get to the rim and or hit the mid range

Another over analyzing video about how if someone can’t shoot 35% then they need to consider trading this guy or dragging their team down. He’s great at being a glue piece for the team, help set up other team mates, contribute defensively and drive to the basket. He’s active off ball. He needs to get better at shooting and rebounding. But I think he’s a helluva passer and high iq teammate.

He's absolutely right, you can't be a glue piece if you don't play defense (Giddey doesn't) combine that with the clear lack of shooting and it's hard to conceive a way for Giddey to contribute to high level playoff success

Giddy is a lot like Jason Kidd early on in his career a good rebounder, shot creator and defender. He's at his best when he's allowed to run the offense, if OKC isn't going to put the ball in his hands just trade him. They don't need to break this young man's confidence by continuously putting him in position's to fail. The Pistons, Spurs and the Wizards all need a traditional starting level PG

@@D3liveringChaos no they don't they use SGA as the primary ball handler a majority of the time. They'll sometimes stagger his minutes so he's on the court with the second unit, so he can sometimes run the offense unimpeded. But that's not the same thing. Do you think they're letting SGA just go stand in the corner and wait for the ball to come to him? No they don't, I'll never understand why people run their mouths all reckless when they have no idea what they're talking about

I agree with Victor. As a Thunder Fan, he is a great fit for us and matches our timeline. Thunder lead the league in drives to the basket. Counter point, who handles the ball when SGA sits down? JWill is more of a scorer, not a pg. Giddy is the piece that makes everyone else fit. Not vice versa. Micic is good but Josh ceiling higher Also, isn’t OKC one of the best 3 pt shooting teams in the league? Feels like a reach overreacting on shooting imo.

I found this video, very interesting due to the fact that much of it contained highlights from one of the Golden State games and the other much of the Portland game. We swept Golden State and trounced Portland! Why would we want to get rid of a guy that gets more than seven assist a game and that many rebounds as well???

-- The vid is not explaining that Giddey needs to go -- just that he doesn't fit well. Giddey (today) is better as a 6th man, running the bench OR when SGA rests. IMO, he's a $15-20M/yr kind of player today (for a guy whose only 21 yo). If he can hit 35% plus from 3pt, his value will jump to $25-30M/yr.

So far he shoot 8/26 for 30.8%. Last season he ended up with 32.5% which is not great but not bad either. A long video to talk about a non problem plus Giddey works fine with SGA. His role can very likely be to bring the ball to SGA and that's perfect.

And that's 1 shot only 🤯 I shouldn't say that because it's comon sense... It's a low sample, if he shot and score the next one, he will be 35%... We agree it's not elite, it's not bad either. It's slightly below average for a negligeable margin.

This team needs a young PG that organize offense, that is a great passer, good defender (so preferably a tall body), that can shoot above average so at least 36% - oh and SGA is THE man so this PG must NOT BE ball dominant. I'm not sure there are many players like that in the world... But they have Giddey that is at +3% in 3P% to this ideal... And you want to trade him because he must score 3 3P per 100 shots more so you consider him "good". For your information, Giddey shots about 280 3P per season, to become your ideal player, we're talking only 8 3P a season... *_* I would feel dumb if I were you, like real dumb

@@JmssBraendle love how keyboard warriors jump off so quick, he avge 23 at world champs at the point, but is playing the 2 this season with OKC, which isnt his position, I would argue that like most NBA teams that dont perform, ego's control the coaches, SGA wants to be the man, points and assists and unlike this video says, he is simply more athletic, if Giddey had his hops he would be the main man because his court vision is one in a generation. Give him a break and perhaps aim the issue at the coach who it appears is somewhat clueless.

Oklahoma City literally shoots the highest percentage in the NBA so far this season. If they have a “Josh Giddey problem” everyone else must have someone else who’s a bigger problem. I don’t necessarily think that right now he’s a perfect fit next to SGA but he has shown improvement through his career as a shooter. The Thunder want everyone on the floor to be able to make plays for themselves and others.

You’re about 10 years behind the maths on that one lmao. He’d be doing well to be shooting 45% on those types of shots which is 0.9 points per possession. League average points per possession is like 1.18. That’s horrible offence. That’s the same as if he was shooting 30% from three. When he steps further in it’s also easier to close out to him so the spacing is even worse.

Look, it's not that I don't think that had Giddey shot better from 3, their offense would have been even scarier, BUT - they're currently 6th in team PPG, with almost 120 per game, second in FG% and first (!!!!!) in 3P% by a margin (the only team with more than 40%), so..... IDK, maybe it's not such a problem after all🙂 I believe he's just looking for his place there, now that a dominant force like Holmgren joined, and it's fine. I mean, he's not looking to be the star. He's a team player who looks to do all the "little" things which are the real glue of a team. Those things sometimes go unnoticed. It's good to have players like him. BTW, one last thing - he shoots 30.8% from 3. Last season he shot 32.5% from 3. Wasn't it a problem back then too...? :-)

This is a nothingburger. Josh isn't as athletic as some of his teammates, but he's got talent, and smarts, and he's still very young. The team's record this season is suggesting there isn't a problem of any significance.

I really like Josh. But considering the whole team can pass the ball and SGA is a great playmaker, I worry for his future on the team. Having a guy who's basically a secondary playmaker and not a very good defender who cant really shoot isn't as valuable as say Cason Wallace who can be an amazing 3 and D guard down the road. He's already an absolute dog on defense and it shooting 62% from the field and 54% from three an all be it 7ppg so not a huge sample size. But I think maybe by his sophomore year we could crank up his minutes and he could be a great defender and 40% three point shooter and it could be time to move on from Giddey.

I totally see everything you are saying... but I think it's too early to hit the panic button yet.. Chip just started tearing his shots down to rebuild him only like a year ago and that stuff takes a little time.. plus.. he's still 21 so he's pliable and willing to learn.. if he's still getting ignored by mid season next year then I'll say I love you Giddy but I don't know that you fit the timeline.. atleast not as a starter.. so we are either gonna need you to run the bench or we are gonna have to move you and bring up Cason Wallace to the Starting line up or Isaiah Joe... although I will say Giddy's D hasn't been as horrible this year as it was last year.... which improved significantly from the year before... he's still not great.. but I like how it's trending upwards.. I do think part of the jolt on his offensive side has been because the team has been trying to figure out how Chet fits in... which I think we've found now.. Mark said that he's been in a little bit of a weird place to start the season.. but that should improve.. and if he can get some more confidence in the stroke Chip is teaching him he'll start nailing more of them.. because I think part of the issue I see with his shot is more to do with him not trusting himself behind the 3point line so he has a hesitation about taking the shot that I think kinda destroys his rhythm.. the games(GSW) where he's been just pulling the trigger no hesitation he went 3 for 3 and then 1 of 2... when I've watched the games(and I've seen all but the Kings game) previously he was passing up wide open 3s about 80% of the time because you could just see it in his face he had no confidence.. and I don't know about you but if you don't do something with confidence it doesn't matter because you've already bricked.. Even if you think you are gonna fail.. do it with conviction...

giddey is overrated by okc fans and I’m a okc fan every time someone criticizes giddey it nothing but excuses for his bad play but not realizing he playing bad because of his flaws that he haven’t fix since his rookie year and it doesn’t help that his playstyle doesn’t work with a guy like shai who need the ball and can’t shoot the 3 ball either Not saying Giddey is bad but the reason he playing bad is because of his flaws and this has been a repeating cycle, plus I don’t understand how okc fans think giddey will be in a playoffs setting with his playstyle next to shai it just doesn’t work

I don’t see it as a problem lol. If Josh doesn’t fit then ig there problem is that they move him for assets (seems great!). Thunder have no issues going forward imo because they own bottom teams picks going forward lol
