This is my dad directing the Marine Band! His name is Willie Hammett.

Holy shit, those trumpets earned my respect playing the trills so cleanly.

My dad is directing this. He said this is the 1st march he learned to play on the trumpet at 12 years old. He is now a professional jazz trumpet player with the likes of Doc Severinson.

I've never seen a conductor "feel" his music the way he does he seems to be right on it. Well done and I for one really enjoyed this.....thanks You Tube and whoever else made this clip available.

I have played under many conductors in years past, but never any better. He has a true feeling for each and every section, and leads them with true understanding of a Sousa march.

A song is any peice of organized music. Me snapping my fingers in rythm is a song.

That's exactly how I feel. Their dynamics and, well, everything else is better than my band could ever accomplish.

Great performance! The dynamics are impressive.

We played this song in our concert band! I sucked at it though.

the bassoon part is hard in this piece of music. they go from following the tubas to following the trombones to following the bass clarinet. it's ridiculous. but it really is a work of art. sousa is a genius.

It sounds better with a marching band cus you can hear all them horns playing nice and loud and not all soft.its suppose to sound like thunder when the drums bang

great articulation and they play (pianissimo) very well but need more (forte.)

A teacher I had in music school actually fined his students for calling instrumental pieces "songs".

No, a song is NOT any kind of organized music. A song is a vocal-related musical piece set to words or lyrics. It's as simple as that. People usually get away with calling any piece of music a "song" because it is like any other slang term. But try calling a Mozart concerto a song in front of an orchestral conductor and he will bury you.
