THE YUE QINGYUAN REVEAL just when you go "hmmm, this novel suspiciously lacks the trademark MXTX Tragic Gay Side Ship", you're hit with the full force of qijiu and their ridiculous levels of angst. like literally in the last chapter of the main story. like huh?????

The *scene* here imo can be seen as a critique of certain BL tropes, involving sugarcoating dub- and non- con while using them as plot device. In case of svsss LBH was in no mental state to be able to give consent (with hallucinations and loss of vision etc, literally "out of his mind") and SQQ, while he did initiate it, simply saw it as the only way to save LBH and was coerced by the System which refused to give out the Key Item in time and suggested the "Scenario Pusher" - the System can be interpreted as many things here, being the ultimate perpetrator, the scene is uncomfortable for the reader and both characters involved, which is how it is supposed to be with intercourse under such pressure, but people who are familiar with BL (esp older ones) and generally smutty works know how lack of consent and agency can be sugarcoated and romanticized. Thankfully LBH and SQQ actually love each other but it is not how they are supposed to make love, such pressure and duress makes things ugly even when people love each other and it is shown quite clearly. Anyway... Interesting catch with the last line, mxtx truly is a master of last lines, I only ever saw it as "but the story between you (lbh) and me (sqq) has only just began" - in the original online version the last chapter of svsss is called "the story begins..." - but it can be seen as a message to the readers too, that's so cool!

I've always thought that the "But the story between me and you has only just began" was just about BingQiu's relationship, but as soon as you mentioned that it's an amazing way for an author to introduce themselves to their audience it hit me too. Both interpretations are probably correct, but it's so much better than than once you realise that she was also greeting US. It makes me appreciate her so much more, so thank you for opening my eyes!

1:38:40 I’m with ya! 😭 this book! Short and sweet, but when it hits IT HITS 😭 I’m just as endeared to this series and it’s concept and fandom and content. I’ve not left for years because that feeling is what it feels like to interact with the SV fandom and SV mains. 🥺

Gawd this really is my favorite MXTX series. Nothing meets the emotional highs that SVSSS gave me when I first read it and it's still true relistening now. I just adore it, and I adore the whole ending, and I adore Tianlang-jun renewing his love of humans after all he's went through, and I adore Airplane getting to see his work reach the fulfilled ending he always wanted, and I adore Shen Qingqiu and Binghe finally getting on the same page in their relationship of how not normal they are about how much they love each other. I love it all. AND I love the tightrope you highlighted, because I really appreciate that MXTX didn't play the scenario off as sexy cause it categorically would not fit with the moment. I feel like you easily could with having to bang to save the world being the final climax of the series but instead it was looked at and said "You know being forced to do this while your partner is out of his mind and not conscious enough to be considerate of you with no preparation or experience while the world explodes would actually be terrifying and painful and suck a whole bunch" and then wrote that. High ho and on to the extras!

Among the three books by mxtx, svsss’s extra stories are the richest and most interesting. Let’s look forward to the fourth volume together!🥰🥰

This reading is somewhat historical. 1), This novel thrives in spite of the sensitive content that is so skillfully adjusted to satisfy the author's taste for a certain flavor of rough fantasy play s/m (FRAPE), and bypass the anti non-consensual argument. Readers still get exciting tension and resistance without breaking any social tabboos. 2) Also, if this book is ever "cleansed" and subjected to rigorous censorship, I love that its true form will always live through readings like yours. I remember liking this novel the least out of the 3, it just didnt fully click with me. Maybe it was just missing this read-through because I must have teared up as often as you did 🥹Even the whole god-awful sex scene is more meaningful the second time.
