F1 cars are known for using DRS (drag reduction system(s)) in certain zones on track to aid in overtaking, but did you know that a NASCAR team built a working DRS system in 1992? In this video, we take a break from today’s NASCAR Cup Series stars like Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, and Ross Chastain and uncover one of the most daring cheats in NASCAR history. Andy Petree and Dean Jones (who were both featured on the Dale Jr. Download) worked together to build an electronically controlled spoiler for Harry Gant’s car for the Daytona 500! While they weren't they only ones with an adjustable spoiler (Jimmy Spencer and Jimmy Means' cars had them too that weekend), theirs was one of the more complex designs in the field. Did it work? How did Harry finish? Did they get caught? Watch the video to find out!
