This story absolutely tickles me to.pieces. it goes to show, thst if something did not go Elvis's way, he simply did it the easy way. But, I am imagining if a fan was out walking in early am and saw elvis walking, dressed to the nines with a Tommy gun, they would be shocked 😲

I heard a similar story once, after a show the guys all piled into the cars and took off, not realising that Elvis had stopped for a call of nature. Each car assumed he was in the other vehicle. Apparently, he was found hiding amongst the bins at the hotel where there were several thousand fans milling around! I would imagine they broke several speed records returning to the hotel!!!!

Great video David! I never heard the Tommy Gun story! I really liked it too. I'm familiar with the Joyce B. story, but it appears that it has almost intentionally been kept quiet. According to another video, that's what she thinks anyway. You hear about EP on the plane with Schilling and how EP gave a soldier $500 and, of course, EP's meeting with Nixon at the White House and that EP was accompanied by Sonny W. and Jerry S. The surrounding story with Joyce B. seems to be obscure. Joyce B. said that the reason EP went to get Jerry S. was because EP could not locate her himself and needed help. EP no longer had her personal number so he checked into the DC hotel and was calling the State Department, where she worked, trying to locate her. As Joyce B. said, Jerry S. could confirm it but won't and she thinks it has to do with Prissy. In my view, maybe they don't want to "muddle" the Nixon meeting with another girlfriend story. Of course, EP was still married to Prissy at the time. Thoughts?? Joyce B. also tells another great story when she, EP, her sister and Sonny W. went to get something to eat and found a Donut Shop that was open. There were several black teenagers in the parking lot and EP got out to talk and showed them one of his belts and then pulled a hand gun out and told them "...and this is how I keep it." (paraphrased) So, these are great stories and she provides great detail. I see no reason not to believe her. Question please. How close of a friend was Jerry S. really to EP? I've been wondering lately since the death of LMP. It appears that Jerry S'. constant story is that he's been there since the beginning. He was there at her death. He married Lisa, Riley and Navarone. I didn't think he was really in the entourage that long and at one point Jerry S. even quit and never worked for EP again. I guess they remained friends, but how good of friends were they really? If you recall, EP thought early on that Jerry S. and Prissy had something going on. Jerry S. has been cuddled up next to Prissy all these years and I do see his connecction with LMP, but question the depth of his relationship with EP. At one time, Joe E. (Parker's informant) was considered to be the one most knowledgeable about EP, but now he's gone onto glory. I know Sonny W. said that Jerry S. has embellished some of his claims associated with EP. Thoughts???

David, I’ve lived in #Memphis for 70 yrs and it was safe in the 70’s here but if #Elvis walked home to #Graceland from The Memphian it would have taken him all night! 😂 it’s gotta be 10-15 miles from that movie theater and no easy route. I had 4 aunts who lived in Whitehaven all around #Elvis. We saw him all the time and he knew my aunts well. In fact, 2 of my aunts were probably the original “gate girls”. It didn't take two days. He went first to DC, checked into a hotel; made no contact with anyone, flew to California, contacted Jerry, flew with him to DC again. He wrote the letter to Nixon on the plane, went to the White House; dropped off the note and later that morning the White House contacted Jerry, who had sent for Sonny by this time. Sonny arrived just as Elvis was leaving for his appointment with Nixon. He was recognized when he dropped the note off, and the White House people facilitated his seeing Nixon.@@gailcalderone5229

I always wondered abt this story of him going to D.C. Like first off, how did he just leave graceland? Did he call a cab? Like how did he get to the airport esp with his star status? Wouldnt that cause a commotion? How did he just call jerry schilling? Did he remember phone numbers by heart or did he have it writtem down? Did he take along money to pay for the hotel? I knw he had 500 or 5000 bucks (i forget the exact amount) which he ended up giving to a soldier/vet for Christmas. I have so many questions lol
