No matter how civilized. A society is just a week away from chaos and people fighting each other for the survival of their families. We've been blessed/spoiled with an excellent just-in-time supply chain in just about every facet of our society. Any hiccup and the wheels fall off the wagon.

Get in shape. Don't have to be an Olympian, but figure out if you are lacking in some cardio or being able to move heavy things around. Don't want to be the guy who runs from a bear and falls on their face or pulls down that item from the garage attic only to throw out their back.

Remember during Katrina, when armed criminals we're looting, so the cops went door to door, confiscating home owners' only way of defending themselves? Because 911 was broken? Remember grandma that got tackled in her own kitchen for not handing over her only revolver fast enough? Good times.

Probably the best Preparation isn't total self reliance but a network or Community. If you don't have a well, you're gonna need a friend who does...

I live in Florida. I have all my hurricane supplies bought and stored by May 1. What isn’t used or can’t be kept until the next storm season gets inventoried in the fall. Rinse and repeat every year. Stay safe and be prepared.

FYI, a brand new garden sprayer can be used as a shower as well. You can paint it black to absorb heat. Pump and you have pressurized water for cheap.

I would include 2 oz of Sta-bil per 5 gal of gasoline for long term storage. It makes a difference.

Nice video! As far has Baofeng radios and other ham radio gear go, in a real world emergency there are no restrictions to the ham bands. I’m an amateur extra class ham and teach this stuff as my way to give back to a community that’s given me so much. So that being said, it’s not hard to get licensed and by getting with a local ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Services) group you can get tons of good training on radios as well as other non-ham specific stuff.

One option to help get some of the basics on the cheap is to check out your local Military Surplus stores. You can usually find items for water storage, gear storage, first aid, cold and hot weather clothing, firearm maintenance items, entrenching tools, etc.

An odd tip for emergency lighting just for basic power outages and using the battery banks...LED white Christmas lights. I have a large small office sized 1500W UPS on my TV setup and we have the Christmas lights strung around just for fun and they will run for hours and hours off the UPS battery and it's nice to have a full room lit up with so little power consumption.

Oh yea I live in South Mississippi and Hurricane preparedness is real Katrina caught us off guard when I was about 15 and 2 weeks of walking to the creek a few miles away I swore that wouldn't happen again

Those stupid safety devices on gas cans make me spill gas all the time....thus leading to dangerous situations. 🤔 I try to toss those spouts as soon as possible. The Racing Cans are great. Attwoods(like a SuperSize Tractor Supply)has a huge can that doesn't have the safety crap on it. Says its for NonFuel fluids but ...... And it says its 5 gallons but Its actually 6.25+/- gallons when I checked it at the pump because it has a long, fat neck and a 3" opening for real easy filling and a hose spout. Get them for like $20 and I've stored gasoline for a year numerous times in there with no problems.

Just FYI the Berkley absolutely rocks. Makes water taste better as well as cleans out everything. The filters can be cleaned numerous times and last thousands of gallons. Forgot to add:. Drain the fuel bowl on your generators after use or use until empty. They can get water in the bowl causing issues.

I bought EZ Pour spouts for all my gas cans. It basically converts a new gas can back to the old school case cans. Comes with a valve too. You drill a hole in the can and install the valve, screw the spout on and boom, gas can from the 90s ready to use.

Prep like your going camping for a whole year without access to any stores. Then you're almost there

I live in the desert southwest. I've stored 100 gal of water, 30 gal of gasoline and have several solar-rechargeable batteries/lights.... plus the usual food/ammo stores. I'm more prepared than most folks around me.

It amazes me how many people couldn’t go even a few days without running out of food. One suggestion, have some cash in case power is down and ATMs/credit card machines aren’t working

on water here in the country we get the big 50 gallon heavy plastic barrels with screw on tops. They are safe with no chemicals, food grade. Run about 45 dollars each

We have quite a bit in Mylar bags and regular canned foods. Just getting into canning. Wish we had started earlier.

Thanks for this. I've been working on our preps for the past year or so, and it's good to see where our gaps are. For storm areas, things like tarps, paracord, and ducttape are really valuable to have on hand for something like a broken window or a hole in the roof. If you want to get a bit fancier, spare plywood, screws, a battery driver, and some canned spray-in foam makes a good semi long-term patch job since contractors always seem to be backed up after a bad storm.

Great stuff. I had the advantage of parents who grew up during the Great Depression. That experience made indelible marks on both. My dad, in particular, knew what hungry was. I guess you could say that it was like going through a disaster that lasted years. Although they never actually said it, I could tell that, because they had gone through it they must have vowed to themselves to never go hungry again because my mother always made sure that there were weeks, if not months, of canned food on hand - both commercial and home canned. They passed that along to my siblings and I. I guess I never considered myself to be a prepper but I have always made sure that we have everything we need to sustain ourselves for long periods of time. I'm sure many of you grew up with parents or grandparents who taught you the same things. Where I live experienced massive ice storms back to back in the early 2,000's and we were without power and unable to get to town for nearly 3 weeks. We were well fed, warm and protected the entire time. It was funny because my oldest daughter said after it was all over, "I think Dad was disappointed when things got back to normal. He was definitely in his element!"

Spent a bit of time working the mining industry in Western Australia. Water sources were available but often contaminated and tagged as non drinkable. When they were good to drink they tasted funky so we'd add flavor like tang or gatorade mix. Just a thought if you have family who can't get past the fact that they're drinking lake/river water.

The time to prepare was 5 years ago! Things are going to get very expensive from here on!

If you haven't stored any food, the least you can keep on hand is a couple 5lb bags of white rice and Pinto beans.. It's better than nothing, only cost a couple bucks each, and lasts for years. Have water too and a filtration device.

I love it when we clear out our ifaks in my unit. I take all the stuff guys throw away. CAT Tourniquets, gauzes, wraps, markers, NPAs, chest seals, decompression needles, etc.

don't forget your hot water heater, mine is 40 gallons, it has a drain on it. so i always have 40 gallons of water stored.

I grew up in a family that has always had everything we need plus extra stored for emergencies, I thought that was just the way it was. I released as I got older that was not so. We are farmers and are well prepared for almost anything. And tomorrow I am sure I will find a hole in the plan somewhere. Lol. Great video thanks

Good advise. Every winter we have power outages. Sometimes as long as four or five days. Trust me if it's twenty below outside you want a way to stay warm. Our first winter where I have lived for the last twenty or so years we had an ice storm that downed trees everywhere. The road wasn't even passable for about five days and no power to boot. Be ready it can happen to you too.

I survived thecTexas winter storm where power was down for a week and we had no running water. My community is all preppers but we had the most weird issues that popped up. You are never as prepared as you think that you are so make it a lifestyle.

Being from Texas and having gone through our recent snowpocalypse, one thing I learned is that you may be set, but your loved ones might not be. I’m no prepper but I came out ok. Unfortunately, several of my loved ones weren’t. My 4 packs of costco packs of water went by fast when I had to give water to my family. Candles came in handy and we used our solar garden lights at night. The MOST handy thing was my 4x4 truck that allowed me to check on family and make deliveries. Having fuel for the truck was essential. A generator would’ve been great. Food wasn’t an issue since we had just stocked up after the whole COVID scare. A propane grill kept us from having to go with hot meals.

A pump up sprayer filled with clean water can be used for a portable shower to rinse off.

if you're looking for a top quality performing cooler for a more reasonable price consider the Otterbox Venture series. I got my 65 quart version for $200 and in my own testing in the garage (no direct light, like you would ideally be using it) in 85-90 degree temperatures it kept ice for 14 days with it being opened 3 times per day. Freeze whatever food you can, get everything as cold as possible. As far as budget axe/hatchet options check out the cold steel trail boss... I got them for $24 each and they're a great in between size so its light yet capable. Great camp axe.

Recommend a camping fridge - hooks up 12v - a 60 qt cooler will be half-full of ice but the fridge can use the whole space. Have a $300 54qt one that’s great.

Don't forget your Ham Radio, or GMRS communications. Even if its just for monitoring the weather. But in a SHTF situation, natural emergency, etc. If your cell phone signal is out, or even the power. Ham Radio Communications will work. The problem with not being Ham radio certified, in an emergency is, the CB talking folks and rubber necker folks, muck up the air waves during emergencies! And causes major problems to the people trying to give help, and dispatch help to EMS.

I had to evacuate my house 2 weeks ago, due to a fire at a nearby chemical plant. Thanks to you preaching preparedness for years, all I had to do was grab my go bag, and was out the door in 2 minutes fully prepared.

Ever since I was a child and the blizzard of 77 hit my state I have subscribed to the ideal of having AT LEAST one spare tank of fuel for every engine you own and multiple tanks for things like generators and snow removal equipment. As such my process is simple. Once a month before I go to the gas station I top off everything from my cans. My cans are numbered so I can rotate them. 20 gallons into two cars, another 5 or so into my tractor, chainsaw, generator etc. So I am always filling up at least 25 fresh gallons for storage every month. Using this method even ethanol gas is fine. However be very leery of ethanol gas in older small equipment. Keep those float bowls drained when storing.

Power, food, water, heat, lights, batteries, rechargers, solar panels, bathroom supplies for the guys and GALS, storage tubs to keep this stuff in! Good Stuff Bruh!

Working on my stack of firewood last week, free heat, free workout. 4 cords so far, all free. Contact your local tree companies, most are more than happy to dump a load of logs in your yard. Most have to pay dump fees to dispose of the wood.

I love this video. In Feb 2019 I purchased an 11k watt LP/gasoline generator, then had an electrician tie in a 50 amp plug. It'll run my whole house on propane or gasoline. The well, the water purification (ozone and water softener) and I can ration my fuel stocks. Great video!

Berkeley water filter is the best.

I wanted to add a couple things. 1. The water filters you mentioned are filters, NOT purifiers. The Sawyer and the Lifestraw do not get rid of viruses. Granted, this is typically a non-issue in North America. South America or Africa would be a different story. The Berkey takes the cake but for portability I recommend the MSR Guardian. 2. The mentality on having a rechargeable light makes sense. I personally opt for the streamlight 1l-1aa, which takes either a single cr123 or a single AA. Just my preference. Amazing light. 3. As for food. Much shorter shelf life, but I recommend Huel. It is nutritionally complete powdered food. I have lived off it for 12 days and I only missed being able to chew my food and variety of taste. 4. Dont forget to have an additive to stored fuel. Theres a few other things, like maybe a way to use the restroom, but I thought I would offer my 2 cents. Love your channel. Thank you!

Solar saved my bacon this winter, I was able to work from home for 4 days using a small Jackery AC power bank and solar panels, using my phone to tether for internet since wifi was down. HQST panels are very affordable on amazon

MREs has the benefit of not pooping for 3+ days. You didn’t mention that. 😁
