The Dark Side Of The Moon by Pink Floyd stands alone in many ways. By dealing with the uncomfortable concepts of life, death, greed, and mental illness, this body of work chimes with the human experience on a real level, which is remarkable considering that Roger Waters wrote the lyrics when he was just in his late 20’s. The content resonates so completely that The Dark Side Of The Moon holds the record on the Billboard 200 chart for being the longest-charting album in the chart’s history - over a thousand weeks and counting. It is one of the best-selling albums in the world, one of the most important in the entire rock genre. And when it comes to “Time,” track four on side one, we have a song that confronts us with our very path of existence. It traces the whole pattern of life, from youth to death and the great beyond, in six minutes and 53 seconds of pure poetry and amazingly creative audio imagery - ticking clocks and all. Get into it in this episode of the Behind The Song podcast.

I haven't left a comment in a while! I had to chime in because you did a beyond amazing job on this one, as you always do! You make us think and feel very deeply about everything, and that makes life more meaningful and ominous, along with other things that are too numerous to mention! The last thing I'd like to suggest is if you can do an episode on Time Waits For No One by The Rolling Stones! Another introspective and humbling song! Keep up the great work! Take care!

Always found it amazing the way this band was always able to not only write lyrics and accompanying them with skilled instrumentation, but also construct solid thematic, conceptual frameworks that tied everything together. Artistic perfection. 💯

Thank you very much. For me PF is the best band ever and their music i can say is classical music...Pls can you make more videos about Pink Floyd and especially their lyrics at the early years of the band? I mean Psychedelic songs like Set the controls for the heart of the sun or Echoes. Thank you once again.

I was one of a fairly small size universe that discovered Pink Floyd before Dark Side of the Moon!!! I was at a friend's house overnight and there was a record on a record player I didn't recognize. My friend and four of his friends were playing poker and I wasn't into playing poker so I asked if I could just start this record. I had no idea who Pink Floyd was but it was some song called "ECHOES"!!! That song blew me out of the universe. Obscured by clouds came out and I was really excited. There were some incredible songs on that album and I was hoping another album would come out by them soon and I'd be happy with anything!! That album just happened to be "Dark Side of The Moon" yeah I was blown back into the universe with that one. Last thing when Dark Side of the Moon came out Rodger Waters had his wife at the time listen to it. When she was done listening all she could do was CRY! Rodger said he thought that might be a good sign.....

Roger Waters is a raging asshole but these lyrics on this album are supreme. So much said in such few words. "All you touch and all you see Is all your life will ever be." Think hard about that.
