On the 6th march 1922 Workers were waking up to start work at Knowles workshop in groveland road Tipton the day would start like any other the staff would start off by dismantling world war 1 Cartridges a job that was just a normal days work for them however that day would seem anything but normal when the amunision cartridges they were dismantling exploded killing nineteen of the young girls working there it's a disaster that the town of Tipton has never forgotten

My Grandmother told me about this awful event which was still remembered even post WWII. I later worked at Dudley Guest Hospital and it was nice to see that my office was still standing as shown in your video. My secretary and me occupied the top floor, the bottom floors were part our storage area and my department was next to and connected to the now demolished A&E. Nice video.

Thanks for the video, I’d never heard of this disaster so good job highlighting it. My grandad is buried in Tipton Cemetery so I will have to stop off at the memorial next time I visit.

In todays world our schools are to busy teaching the history of our lmmagrant population than local history.As a Yorkshireman I learnt about this via the Black Country Bugle

We found their grave as kids, so sad, but I think they cleaned it up years ago, miss the guest hospital, we have to travel miles now, God help us when they open the super hospital in b, ham, nothing on the doorstep anymore

It must have been a terrible time when it happened I remember going into the guest when they were closing it down I used to work for a window cleaning company who cleaned the windows at the guest seeing the inside was very creepy but memorable sadly you have to travel miles for a hospital thanks for watching 👍
