I think this is my favorite teatime movie of all of them. I think it’s amazing how Johnny could rattle off all that fast talking spiel without missing a beat. He rarely stumbled over the entire bit. And Carol, what can I say she was hilarious, beautiful And underappreciated for her talent. She left us far too soon. These are treasures to keep and enjoy forever. I miss those days. Peace.

One time at the end of a show, Johnny brought Carol back on to the guest chair for a closing interview. She wore a tight and very light monochrome (probably white, I had a black & white TV set) jump suit. Johnny complimented her outfit, comparing it to ice cream. Carol replied, “Don’t I look good enough to eat?” Great howls of laughter ensued.

@@JD-rt8ym If he wasn't part of the skit, why would he? Forgoing rehearsal of that segment POSSIBLY gave Ed the opportunity to exit the NBC studio building, cross the street, Alameda Ave., to Chadney's (cocktail lounge, restaurant, live jazz) for a belt or two. (ed. - I say "possibly" -- it's just a supposition). Stone sober, or lit, McMahon's laugh was a great bonus to watching and listening to "Tea Time Movies". It's like when comedian Rodney Dangerfield would do his "I don't get any respect, Johnny; I mean, just the other day . . . " set for several uproarious minutes and the sound of the band members 'falling on the floor' with laughter was part of the fun of watching.

When I was a young teen , mid 60's , we dropped everything at 10:30, Johnny came on , I came home earlier than I planned because I'd had a few more beers than I should have , I'm 17 , I'm crying at Johnny and Ed , and I guess my mom could tell and she said , " What have you been drinking ?" , and I said , " I think it was a Strohs' ". Johnny's humor had already rubbed off . R.I.P. Johnny , you were and will always be the best .

It is very ironic that cremation was mentioned in this skit because after she died in Mexico, Carol Wayne was very shortly after her death, cremated and her ashes were buried in an undisclosed cemetery plot. Apparently her remains were buried in California. Very sad and ironic.

"wannawatch66," with the program running at the midnight hour -- 11:30 p.m. - 1 a.m.; later 11:30 p.m. - 12:30 a.m. -- it's assumed responsible parents and guardians have tucked their children into bed before then, some families, long before then. Carson would be the first to say this would never fly in daytime TV, of which he was a veteran.

Better still when it ran to 1:00 a.m. ET/PT. Sadly, in 1980 cutting back half an hour -- from 90 mins. to 60 -- diminished the frequency of "Tea Time Movies" sketches, thereby reducing Carol Wayne's appearances. In addition Carson's work load changed over the years with Mondays off, then later, working three days a week. Substitute hosts filling in sometimes did wonderful jobs but NO ONE would / could touch "Tea Time Movie" -- Carson was the ONLY Art Fern.

I remember once that he said (either on the show or in one of the skits), something like, "With life preservers like that, you'll never drown." The irony is that is what exactly happened. She drown in the ocean down in Mexico.
