I always love it when Smash music is talked about because it's most of what I listen to these days. I really think it's a big part of what makes Smash amazing. This list is pretty fire. I am sad Kirby didn't crack the top 10 but I do agree that a good amount of it is stuff for joyous walks. Will say though, stuff like CROWNED, The World to Win and the Brawl Dedede remix are all *bangers.*

was kinda hoping between heaven and earth, the apex of the world, or even paths that will never cross to be included in the fire emblem section. the apex of the world especially, since it has this “this is it, the final battle. no holding back.” feeling, and i always get chills when reaching the throne room during azure moon’s endgame because the “open the door, and walk away... / never give in to the call of yesterday... / memories that made / those days sublime / these ruined halls entomb / stolen time.” section even without vocals hits hard. paths that will never cross is hubert’s theme tbh but it also invokes a “we aren’t friends anymore... this is war.” feeling, and idk, fighting your friends to it can get your blood pumping. between heaven and earth, aka: if blue skies and a battle was a war criminal. the chanting can be from the enemy troops, and it definitely fits with a high-stakes match between two of the best players in the world, imo. great list nonetheless!

I really thought pokemon would be on here lol, I know it has a lot of songs that don't really fit for battles, but it also has some extremely good battle themes imo, after playing so many games on ps2 I've come to really like the pokemon soundtrack

I’m so disappointed Starring Wario dance dance revolution isn’t a song in the game. I would listen to it all day everyday bro. Some of the Sonic stages from the old games would’ve been cool, maybe even Sonic Pinball’s boss theme that shit would always have me bopping. Why isn’t Mr.L’s theme in smash? It’s so good, same thing with Rookie and Popple’s theme from the Mario & Luigi franchise.

Fire Emblem in top 3 for ost in smash, instantly a great video

Persona even held back without bangers like Life Will Change, I Believe, Throw Away Your Mask, Wiping All Out, and others, and it STILL took the top spot, respect.

For Fire Emblem, two of my favorites are Against The Dark Knight, and Meeting Series Medley. The former being the theme when you face the Black Knight in Ike's games, and the latter having one section from Sacred Stones that is a better bop than most songs in the game, period.

My personal favourite is destroyed skyworld. It feels like the whole world has fallen down around you and all thats left is a desperate battle for the remains. One of my favourite moments was a 99 stock 1v1 I did against a pit cpu as dark pit on Palutinan's temple, and battling through ever corner of that giant castle while such an atmospheric song played felt simultaneously epic and strangely relaxing.

My list: Honorable mentions: Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Yoshi, Kirby, Starfox, Xenoblade and Duck Hunt. 10. Castlevania (nostalgic, great vibes) 9. PAC-Man (iconic and just so funny imo) 8. Sonic (some great songs and like mentioned gives great perspective on franchise) 7. Persona 5 (catchy songs, only one is iconic to me sadly) 6. Arms (great vibes, new but also not very known and gives happy feeling) 5. Super Smash Bros. (iconic and also one of the best tracks with title music) 4. Donkey Kong (love the themes and the games, probably top 3 franchises for me) 3. Punch Out! (iconic, I always use the minor circuit when I use classic mode or all-star) 2. Super Mario (my second favorite franchise, I grew up with Mario, bought most of it's games and have a memory with every song) 1. Pokémon (My favorite franchise, I've listen to every music track at least 5x and know every bit of information about the location etc) If I must choose what music track is my favorite, it's probably Pokémon Wild XY Battle.

See this is why I wanted Grovyle in smash. Give us Pokémon mystery dungeon music. Imagine it’s grand finals game 5 and you hear Dialga’s Fight to the Finish or Defy the Legends. Would be so sick

Story time: So I was watching a DLC ranking video. The person said that the SNK music was quantative but there weren't a lot of bumpin or notable tracks aside from Psycho Soldier. Now I was gonna disagree but I remember that I only really listened to Kurikinton so I couldn't really get an opinion here. I decided recently to check out some tracks. I'm like 20 in and can now disagree there are some straight bangers here.

A song that totally stood out for me way back in Brawl is With Milas Devine Protection. Amazing song, and was super excited for the remaster when Echoes came out. Fire Emblem music absolutely slaps. Worthy of the #3 spot.

For me, I love Fire Emblem, it’s music, & characters are amazing & underrated, the one that stood out to me is Lost In Thoughts All Alone, every version

Persona and Xenoblade are definitely deserving of the top 2, both have amazing music which I listen to frequently. However, I reckon I would argue Xenoblade should have top spot. While I might have a bit of bias towards Xenoblade, as it's my favourite video game series, I feel as though from playing both franchises, you connect more to the music in Smash from Persona after playing the original series. I feel you don't have to know Xenoblade in order to absolutely lose yourself in the music, whereas Persona, while still slapping hard, relies slightly on nostalgia. However statistics might obviously say otherwise, so then again, my opinion might be unpopular. All in all though, there's soooo much great music in this game, we as consumers are absolutely spoilt for choice. And in saying all this, great vid!

Edge of Dawn is still one of my favorite songs in the universe. It's amazing.

As someone who genuinely loves hearing and paying attention to the songs when I'm playing even in bracket, I've always felt competitive players and Smashtubers alike underappreciate them. This is the video I've been waiting for from a Smashtuber and I love it all the more for it. Thank you for delving into an area of this game that not many really do :D Edit: also I'd have placed Tekken somewhere here but that's just me. Plucking Tulips, Abyss of Time, Karma, Jin Kazama, Dojo (Japanese Style Mix), and of course Heat Haze Shadow (and so much more!) turn up the HEAT in a competitive match.

I feel like if kazuya had come out earlier, teller would for sure have been mentioned. The music fits battles so well And moonsiders 1st just hits different, even without the drums

Especially Touhou. 😂 Edit: I’ll say that the Kirby soundtrack def has a lot more hardcore songs than you might think, with songs like crowned, the brawl remixes etc. Also disappointed that there was not a single mention of Splatoon; it has a banger ost imo. Deserved number 1 tho!

I would've loved to heard you talk about Aoex of the World in the Fire Emblem section, being apart from the whole OST of Persona. Is one of the hypest final battle songs in all of gaming. Fire emblem gets a lot of undeserved shit, but it's music is 🔥

The most unbelievable part of You Will Know Our Names is the fact that they somehow improved on it with You Will Recall Our Names.

Being a Castlevania fan it's genuinely insane how many new remixes of complete BANGERS we got, and all the choices are excellent. The only meh addition to the whole Castlevania Smash OST is probably the original version of Dwelling of Doom which is one of the weaker Castlevania 2 songs, but everything else is lowkey perfect choices all around. The new remix of Cross your Heart is jaw-dropping and downright epic, which is a word I never use because of how the internet has warped it but this track really deserves it. Circle of the Moon's Awake also got such an amazing remix that really gets you going with some godlike violins, Divine Bloodlines also joins in those violin tracks that get you super pumped. Lament of Innocence has these crazy new vocals that make it sound like it's the end of the world, Beginning and Aquarius from CV3 are absolutely rocking with amazing electric guitars and Bloody Tears/Monster Dance is by far the best version of Bloody Tears I ever heard, as the medley with Monster Dance helps it never get stale, unlike the original which I found to be too short of a loop.

5:55 finally, someone else recognizes how great Planet Colours actually is. a lot of GX's OST is just... missing in Ult (Infinite Blue and For the Glory in particular), but I'm glad Planet Colours made it in.

I'd have to say sometimes a calmer song that still has a good tempo can definitely fit a match as well. I played a grand finals set against one of my friends who mains Lucas and I played Falco so there was a lot of walking in neutral, but each touch led to lots of damage from both of us. One of our friends pointed out how the music encapsulated the moment perfectly because we were playing calm neutral, but it still had a good tempo to it and I agree, it was definitely helping me decide my pace to play.

I think you overhyped Persona alot, don't get me wrong they banging, but even from a casual person fan only playing 3-5 I'd put Persona series at 4 in terms of fitting a smash game.
