My first car was a 1964 TR4 back in 1978, it was white, and had disc wheels rather than wires. I loved that car!.

Excellent! You are very fortunate and have great taste. There is nothing like a British car. Here's my list of British Cars I have owned and wish I had the foresight to keep them. I worked for British Motors of Monterey, (Calif) from 1968 - 1972.. some of these cars were purchased at or serviced by our dealership. I bought these from customers or trade ins. Others I owned prior or later. 1953 MGTD MK II.. my first car bought in 1964 from my good friend Geoff Green, now 98 years old. 1959 Fairthorpe Electron Climax.. 1 of 21 made and the only one known to be right hand drive and shipped to the USA 1958 Land Rover. This particular Rover was one of the official 1960 winter Olympics vehicles at Squaw Valley 1960 1967 Land Rover 109 NADA, six cylinder, overdrive, Tropical roof fully windowed, capstan winch and PTOs 1956 MGA roadster with MGB 3 main engine, I installed the engine and restored this in 1970 1969 MGC GT with a factory installed Webasto sunroof and a 4 speed Automatic, bought with 12k miles 1950 MGTD prepped for Bonneville. Bought in Carmel, Calif in 1966 from the owner of "Ailing House Pest Control" 1960 Morris Oxford, yellow, Identical to the Oxford in the film " Close Encounters of a Third Kind" shown in the first minute of the film. Bought from the original owner;. an American Naval officer who bought it new in England and shipped it to Monterey, Calif. 1951 Morris Minor convertible purchased for $50 from the original owner. Great fun. 1980 Rover SD1 3500 V8 engine. bought in Monterey with 30K original miles. At the time I was a employed by Mercedes-Benz of No America as District Field Service Manager in Northern Calif. It was far superior to many of the M-B cars. Better ride and handled better. Faster as well. Honorable mention will go to my currently owned 1964 MGB which I am now restoring. It is completely rust free, runs well, hauls the mail, needs refreshing and a little life put back into it. I am thinking rally, sleeper.. a car meant to be driven long, hard and often . I have sold the 1964 and now have a 1963 MGB.

My older sister went a bit retro about 25 years ago and bought a totally unreconstructed Morris Minor, but in beautiful condition for its age. It had many quirks that only she knew about. For instance, I think it only had synchromesh in first gear - or it did have the updated synchro but the cog teeth were worn or something. Either way, if you tried to clutch and change up to second gear too aggressively, the gear lever popped straight out (exploded out more like) and pretty much attacked you. Which is exactly what it did to me when she let me have a go in it. She was the passenger and boy did she laugh as I was rubbing my bruised hand. And I'd stalled it, of course, just to add insult to injury. She never lets me forget it. Happy days!

Excellent video! I loved seeing the MGTF. A high school friend of mine had a MGTD, and the difference was really something. The MGTC was similar to the TD except that it had tall, skinny motorcycle tires on it. What I really missed seeing in the video is the MGA. I had an A, which was the last MG made with a real frame and typical side curtains. The MGB used unibody construction, and roll up windows which made it far from being classic.

I owned 2 TR3s, 1 Jaguar 2.4, 1 Jensen 541 and a Jaguar SS2. (Always lusted after a SS1 but couldn’t afford it.

Me jealous your TR4! I always liked the TR's, especially the early 4, with leaf spring rear and the tractor 4-pot engine. Simple but rugged. The later 4A's were technically better, with IRS (not US I think) and the 5's magnificent with 4 body and the silky smooth 6-pot fuel injected engine and 150 bhp. (Sorry, you chaps in US got twin Strombergs I think). The Minor Traveller (woodie!) with a 1275 twin SU engine looks fun. In standard form, 1098 at most, we always referred to them as a Vicar's car. But they were so simple they just went on and on. Till the wood rotted.

My S4 Elan was the best. I built it from a kit. It cost £1342. My favourite practical sport car was the MGB. I had four of them ,a 64 up to my last one, a 1981.

No mention of the Lea Francus 2.5 Litre Sports, which beats all other cars you name here, both in design and performance. But few people know about this fabulous British thoroughbred.

ya, driving a restored car that's TOO nice is a problem. so what i did was buy an older restored car with some miles put on it after a complete body-off restoration that was done by the previous owner. so i had what you might call "no skin in the game", and i drive it with a much more carefree attitude than otherwise. it still looks and runs great, but its show days are behind it, sort of like an aging movie starlet.

Incredibly dangerous to drive a right hand drive car in a left hand drive world, and vice versa. Insurance, in the UK is automatically doubled. You can't safely overtake anything.

Funny how we all want something ‘different to the norm’ of what we grew up with. All of those cars look in absolutely great condition but as a 59 year Brit they all SO unappealing to me. Apart from the Bentley Continental, they just look like the old junk that I used to see lying around streets of South London as a kid in the 1960s and 70s There’s nothing exotic or exciting about them for me (except that Bentley…🙂). When I was a kid there were even a couple of E-Type Jags sitting in our street quietly rotting away. You could barely give E-Types away in those days. I still dislike them to this day! 😂 That’s why when I got my first car, aged 19, in 1982 it had to be something non-British and more ‘exotic’ to me. I bought a 1974 BMW 2002 tii. Good, interesting video though! 👍🏽
