Another connection I also see is some of the early artists on these were also teenagers or younger too....guys like Joe Kubert who's first published comic work was when he was 12

Where do the Underground Comix fit into the Golden Age to Power Comics continuum? On one hand, they fit the do-it yourself, no rules ethos of Power Comics, and yet the lack the sincerity of the other two eras. Does the hip detached irony cause the Undergrounds to stand apart, or is it like a case by case basis sort of thing?

I would have thought the undergrounds were mainly too self-aware (lots of LSD-inspired soul searching etc) and grounded in a "cool" counterculture which are both opposite to power ethos. Only exception I can think of is Rory Hayes, his stuff is definitely power comics.
