Just wanted to say thanks. I’ve been watching your channel for sometime. I finally started selling on eBay. I’ve got a niche right now and it’s paying off. I’m striving to make sure I get the package to the customer and in quick time. I had one that got listed 2x somehow and both sold. The gentleman who lost out wasn’t happy. But I won him over by not only refunding his $ but selling him several other items and gave him a discount! Keep up the great video infos. Emmett

My E-Bay business was die-cast. I sold vintage die-cast from all the main makers from Lesney/Matchbox - Corgi - Dinky which were my favourite as my grandfather, a five foot Eff all Yorkshire Englishman who was far too courageous for his own good, got me into my life long love of the old vintage British die-cast. But I also sold Hot Wheels black walls and Red Lines. Unless you have the more collectable expensive models, selling die-cast is never going to work on E-Bay because you have to charge far too much to make any kind of profit than what the cars are normally worth. It was great for a couple of ears, but the rates kept creeping up and up, then the sneaky back door fees etc. I had to get out, and it broke my die-cast heart! LOVE THE CHANNEL DON! Jack ~'()'~

Thank you Don, I appreciate that you are teaching the people who are so passionate about these cars. Please just one thing about my most favorite car of all time the 4-4-2, it’s not four forty two, it’s four four two. It’s amazing how many 4-4-2’s you featured in this video! I had so many of these cars from back then, I ended up owning 4 real 4-4-2’s 1969, 1970, 1972, and 1977. I also owned 2 Hurst/Olds. I’ve always been into toy cars which I still have some, but I lost my major collection starting from when I was a kid in a house fire. I have a great nephew that I would buy them for, and he has really been an enthusiast into these toys, and also into real cars like me. Anyway Don I appreciate what you’re doing. I had no idea that there was such a community of people involved in this.

Don the date on the bottom of ALL Hot Wheels brand cars (made by Mattel) is the copyright date, NOT the date it was made. It is possible to buy brand new cars with a date of 1968 when Mattel releases a new version of an old model. The old original redlines that are shown here are known as Grail cars. Only a handful are known to exist thus the extreme prices. As with most collectables the condition of the cars and the rarity determine the price. 99% of original redlines can be purchased well below $100 even in excellent condition. In bad condition, only a few dollars. Also there are a LOT of reproductions of these cars (yes with modern version redline tires) which obviously don't have the same values as the originals.

As a kid in the 70's i collected mass hot wheels and still have all of em, i have two of the purple olds 442's, both redline i used to give my family members lists of the cars i was looking for and they would send or bring them to me when they would find one and being as we didn't have texting and cell phones i would end up with numbers ones of some of them before I could tell each that I had found one but it worked out cause I have so many that are still in the packages from the 70's, plus I was already buying mass amounts at yard sales all the time, i have ten, s of thousands of them

Of all the hot wheel collections I have ever seen I have never seen anyone have the 4 GOLD plated cars and the 4 Chrome plated cars, the only way you got them was from eating 4 big boxes of Cheerio's cereal ( 4 box tops and 4 quarter sent to MATEL and you got the 4 chrome cars and the following year they released the Gold plated ones with eating 4 boxes for Cheerio's cereal . I had all 8 of them in my collection , I had huge collection of hot wheels , Its all I got for birthdays and Christmas from 68-78, and I bought many with my lawn mowing money . I also had a shot load of track and the automatic pusher units to keep the cars going on the track. I left home after I graduated and went back a few years later and my mom threw ALL my stuff in the trash thinking I didnt want any more. I would hate to say how much my collection was worth today! I also had all the stackable collector wheel boxes you kept all the cars & the buttons in too!

That "Prowler" Flying Colors car was something else before that... It was called "Dexter's Demon" and I had one in Root Beer Brown metallic as a kid. It was one of my favorites along with my purple Porsche 917 racer. I actually won a trophy with the 917 at our local YMCA. This would have been in the very early 1970s... I have started collecting them again. Maybe someday someone will benefit from the several complete treasure sets I have already completed. I also have two error cars... one in the blister pack wrong and a batmobile that is unpainted (bare metal).

There was a guy that asked me if he could buy them from me ( he saw me with maybe 40 cars playing on a handmade dirt track. ) i said no, mind you i am around 4 years old and no concept of money yet. He said i give you 1k for all of them you have right now. I couldn’t get rid of my California Customs, nor my limited 57 Nomad… My dad caught notice and was running as the stranger was walking away.
