I really appreciate that he promotes his own skin care brand, but also gives other options that you could buy at a drug store. It makes me respect him more.

These are great product recommendations... However I think it's important to note that diet (whole foods and lots of colorful veggies), hydration (lots of water throughout the day), exercise, low stress and good sleep will trump pretty much any singular product or supplement. If you're leading a stressful and hectic lifestyle and not sleeping as much as you should and drinking alcohol and eating junk foods, I'd evaluate these areas of your life and prioritize them over any kind of supplementation. 😊 It's like the old saying that you can't out train a bad diet at the gym... You can spend a lot of money on external beauty products but if your internal system is struggling, that will ultimately impact your appearance far more.

“Compare the skin of your face and chest to the skin of your butt...” I laughed out loud! Excellent point, Dr. Youn! P.S. - I had a breast lift and tummy tuck with Dr. Youn about 7 years ago, and I still love how everything looks! I’ve lost 35 more pounds since the surgery (which I originally had because of weight loss), and everything is still fantastic and looks better than ever! Go see him if you’re in Michigan! 😀

J McIntosh you are SO LUCKY!! I love Michigan and think it’s the best kept secret in the country. In 2010, I was dating a guy that once lived in MI. He came up with this bright idea that he was going to take me snowmobiling and we went to Boyle that first year. Thereafter, the weather (global warming) was horrible when we would drive 14-16 hours to Boyne that we took off to the UP!! It’s gorgeous!! Love your state. So where is this doctor located??

Yeah I agree with the oil based cleanser. I have oily skin and I use a really warm wet washcloth and then I use ponds cream on the washcloth and massage in a circular motion. Rinse with cool water. Skin looks great in the morning. I'm Polish and this is what most older European women that I know have been using for years.

I have oily, relatively acne-prone skin. When I heard of cleansing oily skin with oil a few years ago, I was very skeptical. But after learning the science I tried it. Indeed, it works! Years later I still apply a layer of facial castor oil onto my face (& sometimes neck), run a wash rag under hot water, wring out the excess water, place it on my face until it’s not warm anymore, and wipe off the oil.

How do you use retin-A? 🥺 There are so many different forms, concentrations...
@courtneyann24
@courtneyann24 3 жыл бұрын
If you use a retin -A product, it depends on what strength. That being said, you could use retin-a every third night, then work to every other night, then nightly as tolerated. Especially if you use something like adapalene or differin gel. Alternatively you can get prescription grade from your dermatologist called Tretinoin
@courtneyann24
@courtneyann24 3 жыл бұрын
Also keep in mind that Retin-A works for fine lines and wrinkles, sun spots (age spots/liver spots), pore shrinkage and blackhead prevention and acne prevention. Even if you think “I’m too old for acne” lemme tell ya, hormonal acne is a bitch! It can appear around mistrial cycles, ovulation cycles, when you are perimenopausal or menopausal!

I have almost every product from Sephora and ultra for Anti-aging and I finally have found something that works "Algenist, Power advance wrinkle fighter 360 eye serum" in 2 weeks I started getting compliments. My daughter, who doesn't know I have been using this has said"Ma, what happened to your eye wrinkles" I swear you look younger. What have you been doing? Nothing, but wash my face at night using CeraVe and I use the Roc retinol capsules, wait an hour, and put on the Algenist advance power.

5. Oil cleansing for oily skin ….Use alcohol-based toner or astringent as a way to remove oil, may remove instantly or immediately but long-term it increases this feedback loop where your skin notices the oil has been removed and it creates more oil. The skin will react and your oily prob can actually get worse … use OIL CLEANSING without making it feel more oily and without that feedback loop 4. Exfoliate 2-3 times per week for normal skin (once a week if sensitive skin) (exfoliating should be a nice, comfortable process for your skin. No redness) ...When we’re young, our skin exfoliates or turns over every 6-8 weeks, normal cellular turnover when we have young radiant youthful skin and that makes our skin feel smooth and soft. More age, slow down like 10-12 weeks or even longer. So we start to build up dead skin cells on the surface of our skin, that’s why it feels rougher, more wrinkly. You can do a scrub or Clarisonic, you can actually send a cellular signal to the deeper skin cells to cause it to exfoliate and increase that cellular turnover ... So if you exfoliate more, your skin starts to turn over more quickly and get you back to 6-8 weeks that you ideally want …over-exfoliating if your skin is getting irritated and red 3. Use at least SPF 30 sunscreen with no oxybenzone. ...Not every sunscreen is created equal and oxybenzone is known as a hormone disruptor. It can mimic hormones in the bloodstream and especially you don’t want to apply to your children bc they’re young and growing and their hormones are still changing so no oxybenzone in their system ...Oxybenzone is harmful to the environment as it disrupts the coral reef. Some places won’t even allow you to use if you’re in the beach 2. Use a combo of antioxidants Vitamin C&E Serum every morning. ...Most lines have vitamin C serum. Vit C helps fight free radicals and protects your skin from damage throughout the day. If you combine you get a synergistic antioxidant effect, CEF Ehrlich by SkinCeuticals 1. Use a Retinol ...if have to pick 1 anti-aging cream to use a long term that can reduce fine lines, fade age spots, thicken the dermis in the deeper layer, exfoliate the skin ...tolerate it, retinol-based cream every evening/ night, best anti-aging cream that we know of scientifically ... not so expensive

Yay! I'm already doing all but retinol. I did try two different forms of retinol, one from my dermatologist and one that I ordered online (Refissa). I thought it was okay but not great. Part of the problem is that the stuff the dermatologist gave me sucks. It did nothing. The refissa did have help, but after my first order, there was a law passed that you can't buy Retin-A online anymore in the USA. So there went that. I actually do very well since I stopped using retin A. I use rosehip seed oil, vitamin C, a retinaldehyde cream and a light moisturizer.

I am 73 old lady who underwent CO2 laser treatment ( with all the side effects such as redness, swelling ,and peeling) 3 weeks ago and unfortunately I do not see any changes at all. My creepy skin on the cheeks, brown spots and fine wrinkles are still there. What would you suggest as a continuation of treatment. I am following your KZfaq presentations with increased interest. Thanking you very much in advance, Nina.

Hi Dr. Anthony, just a question, would using retinol satisfy the need to exfoliate 2 to 3 times a week? Or there should there be really a separate exfoliator?

Hi dr Youn, I wanted to ask- -if we do all the steps (toner, serum, emulsion, etc) without waiting in between, is each step still effective? Or do we have to wait a certain amount of time in order for it be effective at all? -can we put toner on with our hands? Or do we have to use a cotton pad? -is spf 18 sufficient on our faces if we barely go outside? Or should we opt for a higher spf? -the leftover liquid from a face mask, can we incorporate that into our daily regimen? Seems like such a waste to throw that away. If so, do we do it after cleansing and before toner? Thank you!

Summary 1. Try oil cleansing if you have oily skin. 2. Exfoliate 2-3 times per week. 3. Use at least SPF 30 sunscreen - no oxybenzone 4. Use a combo vitamin C / vitamin E serum every morning 5. Use retinol
