I guess things were different for me. I retired in 2016 at age 62. Walking away from work was the easiest thing I have ever done. My whole life I only worked because I needed to, never because I wanted to. To that end we planned for a very long time for that day when we could just stay home. I have always loved my home life and getting to have that 24/7 was and is a pure joy. I like to say I now have 6 Saturday's and 1 Sunday to my week. The biggest problem I have is trying to remember what Saturday it is. For anyone who has lived in a northern climate (I'm in Michigan) the know the joy of a "snow day" as a kid. Well being retired is like every day being a snow day. By the way, from what you have on your video, I hate the break the news to you, but you are not retired. You can't work and be retired at the same time. The definition of "retired" is literally "no longer working". I hope when you do decide to retire it's everything you always want it to be.

You are so fortunate to have this wonderful perspective on your "non retirement". Yes, we did not retire and one of our goals is is create a movement about this third phase of life and all that it offers. Even if it's a week filled with six Saturdays or multiple snow days. Thank you for your continued comments. Mark and Jody

Agreed, if you have to work, you are not retired....stop using that word. If your hobby is to try some jobs you always wanted to do, For a short period of time, then that is fine....for example, I have always wanted to work the projector at a theater, I will do that some day.....but not because I have to.

My husband will be retiring in a couple of months. We know there will be a lot of adjustments to be made. My husband has worked for the same company for over 34 years so that is a big part of his identity. But, we are part of a great church and are heavily involved in a Christian motorcycle ministry. These two areas have become more of our identity than his work. We are looking forward to having more time for volunteer work. There is joy and fulfillment in serving the Lord where He wants you to serve. I’m excited to see what doors He opens up for us in this next stage of our lives.

Hi Darlin'. Yes, I would say as we continue to grow as a couple and dig deeper into our five pillars of retirement, we learn more and become more successful and grateful for our life together. It takes intention and some work, but it is so worth it

What are your thoughts on being together 24/7. Should we schedule alone time?

We both set aside alone time and time away from each other doing our hobbies or sports. We have couple friends and also individual friends to mix up our day. So talk about it and see what works
