Someone has likely mentioned this, but I couldn't find it. TLC started out as The Learning Channel, not Tender Loving Care. Originally it was supposed to be an education focused network that eventually started putting out nothing but reality show trash. They received so much criticism over their programming line-up that they changed their name to TLC. The letters, much like the network, no longer stand for anything.

Little Britain. It frustrates me so much that it was such a huge hit when it was so lazily written it barely even qualified as a sketch show, and had lazy 'edgy' humour that even modern Family Guy would be ashamed to use. The one nice thing is seeing tons of unloved old DVDs of it clogging up every charity shop and CeX in the country.

There was this show once called My Life as an Animal on BBC Three, I swear it wasn't real as I kept having traumatic dreams about it but then I got the courage to look it up and yes it was real. The celebrities they get for it aren't even famous enough for it to be called Celebrities Live Like Animals or something. I saw one episode and this person lived as a pig and ate out of trough. I'd blame this show for Otherkin but then I realised I'm the only one that saw this show.

I always hated Modern Family because I find the ensemble cast to be obnoxious as hell. I also find shows like Big Bang Theory, that 70's Show, and Two and Half Men to be unbearable because of how forceful the comedy is. I also couldn't get past the first episode of Atypical because it tries so hard to give a positive representation of autism to the point where it's the only defining trait of it's main character. And this is coming from someone that is autistic. I also hate the main character's mother. I also couldn't stand Dear White People because politics aside I thought the main character was such a condescending attitude about the subjects she talks about in her radio show which makes her so unlikable.

The inter-generational competition? We had a show like that in Australia... It was called "talking about your generation" and it was a celebrity game show with comedy overtones, and the teams sorted by which generation they are. So they had Baby Boomers, Gen X and Gen Y. Each team had a regular member who came on every time, and a guest member who was there just for that episode. And the games they had to play were ridiculous and hilarious. There was much trash talk, but it was all in good fun. And it was legitimately funny and entertaining, because it didn't take itself too seriously...

I met a guy not too long ago that sat through a meeting where they pitched reality shows, and they honestly came up with Celebrity Soup Kitchen, which is so bloody believable I wouldn't be surprised if we saw it in the next few years.

There was a short lived summer season series in the 1970's titled "Ivan the Terrible." It was a comedy about life in the Soviet Union.

Amazing Greys does look utterly terrible, but I could see how a TV exec would think it would fly. Elderly people love sticking it to younger people, so it would stand to reason they would enjoy watching it. Hell we have an entire subsection of the media devoted to what Millennials are supposedly ruining.

There was a show called The Outpost, which was kinda Tolkien esk fantasy. But it was so bad that i gave up half way through the first episode and the rotten tomatoes apparently reset all the user reviews because to many were saying Mary sue.

I find it hilarious when a random celebrity gains a bit of popularity and gets given a game/chat show. They're 100% always awful and it's just amazing to think someone thought it was worth trying.

Definitely one of the worst I've ever seen is Channel 4's The Geeks. It's essentially a Sun, Sex and Suspicious Parents knock-off where a bunch of socially awkward "geeks" are flown to a party destination like Ibiza or Magaluf.

I’ve got another bad show which has been completely forgot about. It was called Full English and it was on Channel 4 and it was set to be “a British adult cartoon”. It ended up just being a huge ripoff of Family Guy, without the humour or likeable characters or interesting storylines. They claimed that it would “envoke the Family Guy vibe in a British setting” but it was essentially stealing from Family Guy for views and i guess that’s what compelled them to completely bury the show and act like it never happened. Seriously, Channel 4 is just a dumping ground for bad and ridiculous ideas they keep getting away with it. Like all their ridiculous “social experiments” that are bound to go wrong yet generate views. I find it completely ridiculous that they care so little about the people watching when it started out as a network which was supposed to care about the viewer’s experience. Now we’ve got to the point where I and tons of people can compete with them for ideas. They might as well accept our ideas if they don’t have any ideas which don’t require stealing from other shows or networks. They’ve literally sunken so low to the point that they’ve managed to sunk even lower than being the worst television network. They’ll chuck money at any old shazbot and people will still watch it. They’re bringing back The Big Breakfast for a summer series after they randomly did one special of it in 2021 which no-one thought or cared about, they’re claiming they will try to compete with ITV daytime with a new show that sounds completely like a ratings trap, they’ve added a new channel called E4 Extra which is just gonna show what 4Music showed. They rely on cheap ideas for ratings traps because they’re so out of ideas at this point. All of their channels end up delivering the same experience: you’ve got Channel 4 which is the primary shazbot fountain, E4 which just show shows which are big in the US as well as showing some lesser shown shows on Channel 4, More4 which just shows documentaries and stuff that old people watch which are also shown on Channel 4, E4 Extra as I just mentioned, 4seven which just shows Channel 4’s most popular shows, 4Music which is just music, Film4 which is just films that have come out recently. Basically, whenever they think of something which people like, they just steal it and label it as their own.

I don't watch a lot of TV and have never seen any of the shows on your list so I'm not saying that the two shows I thought up are worse than yours. They are just two shows that wasted their potential. The Bubble - Three comedians go live in a house for a week with no contact with the outside world and then are taken directly to a studio where a badly misused David Mitchell asks them to guess which news story is true and which ones ere made up. In order to film one episode you have to house and feed three people for a week just so they can play a guessing game? Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares (U.S. version) - The original kitchen nightmares had drama and was about cooking. In the U.S., they replaced Ramsey's voiceover with an American gameshow-like voice, made the cutting quicker, shortened the amount of time he stays at the restaurant (by day two he's solved the problem), and the show now usually not about cooking but about feuding family members who can't work together.

I've never watched the US versions of The Apprentice, either Celebrity or Normal. But I've caught five minutes here and there. Not really enough to judge, but I did. It looked oddly more credible, the prize more significant. While the UK version had idiots bickering in a kitchen, delusion of adequacy, and petty insults. I hoped the US version would somehow be more serious or genuine. Alas, from your clip it looks skin-crawlingly bad. The leggy dancers, and Trump himself just make me shudder when you think about his boasts about invading the Changing rooms at the beauty pageants. Of course, I might be too harsh, there are 'many sides' to consider, and there were probably 'good people' on the shows too. Happy to say, I'll live in ignorance on this matter for the rest of my life.

From what little I have seen of Katie Hopkins basically takes what most of the country think, ramps up the rhetoric and does what most people are scared to do, actually voice those opinions in public. Worst show for me is WHATS IN THE BOX! UK. (aka Deal or No Deal) a game show that had no skill involved at all, and the contestants come up with all these harebrained “systems” which were ludicrous, is was purely random. It was entertaining for about 5 minutes before you realized how stupid the show and the contestants were.

I don't know why I expected to see shows like Scottish police sitcom 'Feel the Force' (which starred Michelle Gomez, whom we now know better as Missy) here. That was just plain rubbish, but not socially toxic like most of the programmes on this list. I should know what I'm getting when I click on a Stubagful video by now, I suppose! :) If we're going dark, then I'd like to nominate 'My Super Sweet 16' and 'The Virgin Diaries', both from MTV in the 2000s. I've never seen an episode of the latter in English, but the German one I watched is still burned on my brain over a decade later for its crass and tasteless handling of a sensitive subject.

Sex Box had the veneer of credibility, but seemed to come from the same minds as so many BBC3 documentaries. About body insecurities: My big boobs and Me, Street Doctor (?), or the Sun, Sex and ... series, with the parents watching their kids. Or bank of Mum and Dad, or First Time Drivers (?) Just a torrent of cheap television. Shame for a channel that also brought us: Mongrels; Russell Howard; Bluestone 42; Bad Education; Ideal and Being Human.

Honestly shit reality and game shows are enjoyable just for being trashy sometimes, I think laughing at something for being bad is a weird way of enjoying. Much better than watching something that's meant to be funny that just really isn't, or a show that misses the point that its existence is trying to achieve. So with that in mind, my 5 least favourite TV shows of all time are Rising Damp, On The Buses, Little Britain, Come Fly With Me and free space for any competitive or game show on CBBC

Am I the only one who remembers 'The Wright Way'? If so, I'll happily carry that burden. It was a piece of shit banal studio sitcom where the central joke was that main character had OCD or something like that. It seemed almost like a parody of banal sitcoms on a crap sketch-show. And it was made all the worse when you realised it was written by Ben Elton - the guy behind such comedy classics such as 'The Young Ones' and 'Blackadder' - and you tried in vain to comprehend how a man's career could sink so hopelessly low.

I only watch 'Come Dine With Me', when family are about. Social anxiety, back-stabbing etc, just isn't fun. But I do smile as it makes every house and room look tiny, jammed against a wall pretending there's not a sound recorder, a camera man, and all the equipment filling up the unseen half of the dining room. They have mo money so Amanda talks her uncle Jeff the clown into pretending to be dead cause her dad could be let out for the day to go to the funeral and he can tell them where it is. Jeff agrees but only if they have a Fun-eral. Oh and they win the role of opening ceremony for the London Olympics and they come up with a scotty dog jumping around and the two clowns with sparklers spelling out 20 and 12.

There's a thing on channel 4 where they have naked people in boxes, and other people look at them body part by body part to choose who they want to date. And it's all on show, you see everything. I have no idea what it's called, which is probably a good thing, but it is 100% real and way worse than anything on this list.

God damn it, and there have been a few just flat out AMAZING comedy-/sketch shows here in Germany, when I was younger, which (at least a few of them, for what I´ve heard! Just can´t 100 % confirm, that this was the case for ALL of them!) were mostly just *blatant 1:1 copies of British shows, that already existed!!* Just with other actors, obviously, but those original shows weren´t really known here back then, probably because the internet was also a lot younger then! Probably sounds really weird to you, that I thought just a stupid re-enacting of something was so bloody entertaining, (still at least leaves me the question: Why not just dub the bloody original thing?? Can only think of cost or licensing/rights related issues, but what they ended up doing instead must´ve technically cost them a lot more effort!!) but to me it most definitely was, because again, I never even knew about the original shows until much later plus those German actors were pretty much all very talented and they managed to pull it off in my opinion! But try to find any trace of them nowadays, I fucking dare you! You would rather find out, what the original was called and find tons of that instead. But that´s not what I want! Come on, I dare anyone of you for example to find me at least one episode of "Geht´s Noch"!! I´ve stopped trying years ago....
