Hello, we are beginning fluency, pre-K! And yes, my son is spending a lot of time sounding the word out which isn’t upsetting. I just want to be sure he is up to par with other classmates.

This video is a great help to me as a parent trying to help my child read at home. Thank you. The break down of fluency really helped me understand the difference between phonics and speed and accuracy. Thank you for sharing.

Do you have that partner feedback sheet available to purchase separately on TPT?

I don't have it available by itself but it's part of this Literacy Center pack! You get tons of other activities for partner reading along with the rubric! www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Partner-Reading-Center-Activities-for-First-Grade-3390461

Too fast, too slow. I have both. Is the rubric for fluency available separately somewhere? I'd like to try it out with my children. Thanks in advance. :) Loved your video

Type TOO FAST or TOO SLOW in the comments if you’ve ever had students who are maybe saying all of the words correctly but their speed is hindering comprehension.

Too slow but his punctuation is great, 2nd grader. He repeats the word alot because he wants to read fast.

I have a robot-like reader who now blends, but extends the phonic sound. Example: garbage is gaaaaaaarbaaaaaage. Father is ffaaaaaaaatheeeeeeerr. He does this for almost every word. The positive is that he does not fear any words these days, but he stretches each one so much that he loses track of the message conveyed by the sentence.
