All I can say is of all my watches (and I own Rolex, Patek, JLC, ALS, and many more), my Planet Ocean is the most accurate, most durable, and most comfortable I own. Can't imagine not having it in the collection.

Which movement is your PO? I have the Chrono 9300 movement and I find it gains WAY too much in a month, from brand new. It's going back to Omega once these Melbourne lockdowns end! Otherwise, the PO has ruined me for most other watches....its a monster in size and looks.

Honestly, I think the indices and numbers on the PO give a nice nod to some of the older Seamaster’s of the 50’s, which I think was Omega’s intention. If anything it has the more nostalgic appeal imo.

PO FTW, with its squarer and chunkier crowns and pushers and solid bracelet. That Reece's cup He escape is so girly! But tbh, both newest models with their glassy/glossy dials and bezels pushed me to the previous model with 9300 movement, as much as I was so wanting the 9900. This shininess of the new watches make them reflection magnets and take away from their beauty. They looked over-polished, which takes away from truly appreciating the materials/colours being used.

Thanks for the review, love both watches. One note: seems bizarre the PO would use rubber for orange inlay on a bezel they put so much effort in to make it durable. How durable could it be?

I believe the planet ocean 39.5mm also has the 8800 movement.

The PO is same diameter as SMP at 42 mm but because of crown guard design same as speedy it’s adds a 1.5mm more,, just like speedy

PO anyday...what I don't like on the smp is the short skeleton hands, omega logo is simply painted on the dial unlike PO which has applied chrome and the bracelet on the smp is meh. Price to value, Omega easily takes the crown over the inflaucted Rolex prices. A $5k Omega dive watch will last the same as any $15k Rolex with the same accuracy but u get to keep those $10k in your wallet.

I really don't like the 300M. In contrast, the Planet Ocean is just gorgeous. Omega fan boys will not like you wearing a Rolex during the review 🤣.

I will take the Seamaster over the PO everyday, great movement and some great updates. Omega when they brought out the new Seamaster 300 they killed a lot of sales in the PO line.

Jeff I agree. I think they’re equally good watches, but the premium of the PO is not worth it as a result.

I hate the white enamel in the new SMP bezel and white line appearance of the laser cut waves. I much prefer the SMP from 2017. But am leaning to the new PO because of that display back. 39.5mm of course.

@@stevendombrosky5184 the more you look at the 2018 seamaster the more it grows on you. If you see the 2018 seamaster under natural daylight it really does look stunning I think the previous model looks rather dull compared to it but it does have a classier aesthetic with the glossy non wave dual though. Bizarrely the new bracelet design has grown on me I started off hating it but now prefer it lool

I'm pretty sure the Seamaster 300m's bracelet is 9-link, not 5.

It's five links, you can see it from the "inside" of the bracelet. But it is milled to make it look like a nine link design.

Omega never actually paid for James Bond to wear the SMP in Goldeneye. Rather, the costume designer remembered that her father and his navy buddies used to rave about the Seamasters they were issued, so she though Bond, as a navy man, should wear one.
