Good news everyone. We've added captions! Of course you'll need to read them in a heavy French accent to get the proper feel for them.

Still easy to understand. I was watching a video for some video game where they had a french speaking woman trying to explain something about the game. She did speak English but her accent was so strong that I barely could understand anything.

+OKKerry And the best part is, there is still MUCH more to the race than just these basics. Like "a race within a race", the red number, team clasification, ranks of mountains, team timetrails, prologue, cobblestones (if they are included in the race), sidewind (how it can break the peleton). List can go on. An absolutly fantastic event.

My health and fitness dramatically improved, not to mention my professional achievements and personal sense of worth, even my face and my body shape drastically changed and I improved my social interactions and feeling of bellonging because I found what I can call a second family: group of cyclist whose biggest principle is help your team mates at all costs. I will share with my friends who always hear from me about the TDF but don't understand a thing I'm saying. One thing I always wondered and did learn here was the fact HRs can get up to 200 on mountain climbs. Incroyable!! Thanks for this!

Great informative video. Only one criticism is the origin of the yellow jersey is incorrect. You have gone with the myth of it being due to the colour of the sponsor newspaper. The truth is less glamarous. There was a need to show the race leader so the organiser wanted to get a number of the same jerseys to demonstrate the leader, however the shop they went to only had enough yellow jerseys as it was the least popular colour and that is why the race leader wears yellow

Nice short, however @7.05 - as far as I'm aware, one is not permitted to travel backwards on the course. It may be done but it's not allowed. Edit: Also, descent speeds can reach 120km/h! 80km/h is pretty standard, on a shorter. shallower hill in Perth I usually hit 80-90km/h.

120 kmph doesn't seem real. I don't think so. Professional bikes are very lightweight. I'd say 80kmph looks like realistic. I had got to 73kmp myself so I suppose pro riders can go up to 80 - 90.

@@TheDrewsephEpidemic So is chess but that's hardly a sport. Having tried to hit a golf ball a few times I appreciate that it's very hard and requires perfection of technique but if you can win without breaking a sweat that's no sport. Yes it meets the dictionary definition because you use muscles and it's competitive but if people far outside their physical prime can win its skill not sport. I looked it up the oldest professional golfer to play a tournament was 77. Nobody would call Michael Schumacher an athlete yet F1 drivers have to be pretty fit and take a lot of force acting on their body. Up to 6 g while cornering. Fighter pilots aren't athletes either, still gotta be fit. Golf? Nope.

I brought in some runners in from Africa that finished fourth through fifteenth place I think they'd done better had they had bicycles

It's very different muscle groups in action so I'd say they have mental endurance downpacked, and would by far be better than your average person but no real competition for serious cyclists. Triathletes could be very interesting though, like iron man winners.

long-distance triathletes would probably perform well on flat time trials but compared to world tour cyclists most of them are too heavy for the mountains and they lack the tactical skills for breakaways, riding in the peloton and sprinting. There are some (short-distance) triathletes who are on par with elite runners but I don't know of any triathlete who could seriously challenge a world tour cyclist. Hope this makes sense :)

@@durrantmiller8810 there is no comparison. I have done both 5 mile races, and 800 meter race in college. I later got into cycling. The muscle groups are different. There also is a lot of technical knowledge, like shifting, drafting off other riders, climbing, descending. I would say a pro cyclist is like. Combination of race car driver and endurance athlete.

Cali Méro Okay, I know that. But I wasn't comparing them like that. The '>' symbols are meant to convey that A is better than B A > B = "A rule(s), B drool(s)" By hyperbole, I was going for the effect of "A is much, much, much, much, much (...) better than B"

Cali Méro Huh, that's weird. So basically, whatever you thought I said, I meant the exact opposite. Out of curiosity, how is the inequality "5 > 4" interpreted in France? Does it evaluate true, or false?
