I am Michael Gallagher’s wife, Candace. Michael is very flattered to be mentioned in the same sentence as Maynard, but for the record, he did NOT create Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic was created by the SEGA Corporation, who licensed the character to Archie Comics. Michael (and other writers) wrote the Sonic comics.

Jerome is a different place for sure. Been going up there since the 80s....as a Phoenix resident. My Ex's great grand parents we founders of Cornville, the Miller's, the first post master of the Cornville post office. The miners from Jerome would come down their to get their mail. My Ex's Grandmother was a bit of a rockstar during Cornville's founders day parade. Sweet old Margaret got to ride in the lead Cadillac...lol. Jerome is one of those great day trips. I especially like it during summer. Beat the heat of the Valley, spend a few bucks in the shops. Love the mountain driving and yes.... Arizona is just amazingly beautiful. Especially the North Country. One of my favorite drives is... starting out in Flagstaff after spending the night at my Sisters. Take 89A down into Oak Creek Canyon and Sedona. Then, 89A into Cottonwood and then up into the Mingus Mountains and Jerome. Then, down into Prescott Valley and Prescott (for dinner). Then, take the "back way" through Yarnell into Wickenburg and then of course the 74 back to I17 and the Valley. Great summertime drive. Stay cooler and likely catch a storm or two during Monsoon season. July to late Sept. Bit of a Rollercoaster ride in Elevation. Dropping down then up and down and up again until Yarnell...then all down to the Valley. Amazing sites, good people...cool stores and stuff to browse....maybe buy. Good way to spend a weekend when its 110 degrees in the city....lol. Been in Arizona for 45 years and absolutely love it. Been to 44 states and can't imagine living anywhere but here. Its a magical place.

My grandparents took me to Jerome in their (fairly big) RV when I was around 10/11 years old. All I really remember is looking out of the window as we were going up this curving road and seeing a dead drop down a "cliff"... I saw ancient wrecks of some cars that had fallen off the road and thought to myself, "We're gonna die here." Props to my Grandpa for skillfully driving that behemoth up that perilous road. I wish I could remember more about our trip there, but that fear has stuck with me all these decades later. 😁

Oatman Arizona....now there's s different place! On the old Route 66 up by Kingman. Another old mining town with its resident Burros. Yup...got stuck in a traffic jam there once....of a line of wild Burros that basically own the town. Even met Gus, and old Burro that liked to cook off in the back of the General store. Ever try and house train a wild Burro? They seemed to figure it out. Maybe not a flashy as Jerome...lol...but a different place for sure!

Our Mayor is a women, born, and raised in Jerome. Her mother was a beloved public service, Grant write, and City council member. People from the early days, never squattered, huge misconception. Phelps Dodge, and UVX miing Co.'s, rented lands, sold lands, and leased properties. Working very hard to restore, and rebuild to historic codes. All the amazing rock wals in Jerome, was renovated by devoted rock wall engineers, from Jerome. Hours of vollenteer work was given to the Town by the labor of our Jeromee brothers. The Arts has always been the foundation of community. Some of the greatest musicians, Artisans, Jeweler's, Scuptors, painters, Potters, were the founding Mothers, & Fathers, of Jerome AZ.

We live about a 20 minute drive west of Jerome, so I really appreciated this video! I have to say though, I haven't actually noticed the number of visitors decreasing in the summer--seems to me whenever I've visited it's still just as hard to find a parking place --in town and not in the big parking lot north of town--in July as it is in the fall or winter. I think you could have included a few more interesting places, such as the store with the amazing kaleidoscopes. On the other hand, it was interesting to see some places I didn't know about, such as the Hot Pepper store, the new coffee place (or new to me, anyway) and that consignment store in the old High School. The one and only time I visited, Jerome was in the early 70s when it was a true ghost town with some people living there in the buildings. Back then it was considered an art colony, very sparsely populated. I was visiting a friend and her boyfriend working a mountain Ranch near Cottonwood. She and I went up one day to explore the town which she was familiar with. We ended up in the saloon playing poker, just the two of us while drinking beers most of the day. The barkeep was kind enough to allow us to play poker, although we weren’t playing for money, but eventually stated that it was against the law to play poker. I remember going into the art co-op, which was very nice at that time and I bought a mask, believe it or not, from Bali. So not an Arizona souvenir but I had to have it! I will not forget Jerome at all. So glad I was there before, the rest of the world discovered it. Very fond memories ❣️

Great descriptions: "A ghost town with a million people," "Has nothing you need and everything you want." Jerome is always a memorable place to visit, the drive in from the south, in Fall, is full of gorgeous color, and when you arrive hungry the food is great. A fine place to walk around and be nowhere.

Love Jerome, it's a great day trip especially when you couple it with Sedona. I was actually wondering the other day if families with kids actually live there and how does that even work. I personally could never live there but I'm glad the locals love it so I can keep visiting and supporting Jerome.

There are just a few kids there I think, and they attend school in Clarkdale. My grandkids go to Clarkdale elementary, which includes Jerome and the Yavapai reservation as well. It makes a nice blend of kids!

I love Jerome. I am true Arizonan, born and raised. One of my uncles warned me against buying and moving there because it is indeed sliding down the hill. It is such a cool place to visit! I love the way it is on the side of a hill. Charming little place. 😍

I love Jerome! I haven’t been since 2017, I went to AZ 2 months ago and was upset I didn’t get to visit Jerome again. It’s awesome and I love the vibes it gives off. I hope it doesn’t change too much in the next decade or so.

Live in Az and have been going to Jerome for years. Odd town with odd people, but they all seem pretty friendly. Every year they have a ghost tour that sells out quickly. It ends at the cemetery where the ghost of a little girl is occasionally scene skipping between the gravestones 😊

Was there a few years ago, came the back road by the closed nickel mine. That was quite the drive in a Cadillac. On a dirt road. Came down the mountain and there was a volksbeetle gathering , just strange. Had great time there.
