Justin Charles Pierce (March 21, 1975 - July 10, 2000) was an American actor and skateboarder. He is best known for his roles as Casper in the 1995 film Kids and Roach in the 2000 film Next Friday.
Pierce was born in London, England, to a Welsh mother and an Australian father and was brought up in the Marble Hill and Kingsbridge sections of New York City. Pierce's mother met his father while abroad and never told him who his real father was.
He began stealing cigarettes and food, and frequently missed school in favor of skateboarding. Pierce soon quit school and moved out, staying in a "warren of rooms" in a basement of a building on 176th Street, that was "teeming" with fellow skaters. Pierce was later arrested for possession of marijuana and heroin.
Pierce was a member of the original Zoo York skateboard team, and is featured in the Zoo York 'Mixtape' video (1998), magazines and adverts for the company. He was also a member of the original Supreme Crew with fellow Zoo York team riders and close friends Harold Hunter and Peter Bici.
While skateboarding in Washington Square Park, Pierce was discovered by film director Larry Clark, who cast him in his controversial 1995 film Kids. After the success of Kids, Pierce won an Independent Spirit Award for his portrayal of Casper, the profane and drug-addicted skateboarder friend of Telly (Leo Fitzpatrick), and relocated to Los Angeles.
He appeared in the 1997 film A Brother's Kiss as the young Lex, played as an adult by Nick Chinlund. Pierce also appeared in television movies, including 1997's First Time Felon. He also starred alongside Ice Cube and Mike Epps in the film Next Friday as Roach. Pierce's last on-screen appearance was in the 2002 film Looking for Leonard, released after his death. The film was dedicated to his memory.
In his memory, Supreme have released featured images of his skateboarding (taken by photographer Ari Marcopoulos) in its clothing lines and publications. Promotional footage of Pierce and the Supreme Crew skateboarding has surfaced on the Supreme New York website.
On July 10, 2000, Pierce was found hanging in his room at the Bellagio Hotel in Paradise, Nevada by hotel security. His death was determined to be a suicide. Two suicide notes were reported to be found, which have not been released to the public. On July 15, a Catholic memorial service for Pierce was held at St. Patrick's Old Cathedral in Manhattan. He is buried in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Valhalla, New York.

not to rehash the whole scene but what was his method of choice? i lost an aunt (married into our bloodline) to the Book 'the Final Exit'. she chose hanging by a clothed dog chain (that time in 1993, $69/cents per foot of chain only needed a few feet) I lost another (cousin by that married into my bloodline) also hung himself but i also had an (2nd uncle?) extended relative (from the american side of a uncle that married into my bloodline) from Florida. he had to go into a Care facility, but his GF was not well with being alone. so she went back to the family home, my uncle's family. she stood in the middle of the TV room by the couch and the remote and shot herself in the head. It was like as if i was captain Willard from the movie 'Apocalypse Now '. do u know the scene when Martin Sheen is told by the captain of the Boat, 'i took a regular army guy up past the dough-long bridge. heard he shot himself in the head'. // well, she had left her body's blood all over the room, the walls, and on the remote where there was a mag, that covered where she did not drip. She could have picked moving to the shower, behind the curtain, and then Act out. but she did not care for others in her final moments // I can not judge any one for the HELLL they May day have had to go thru, but after one of my aunts killed herself, then went into the dreams of her pregnant neighbor (and asked that woman, 'can i be the soul of your unborn (8months) fetus?' i have 2nd guessed all non war zone, all non jailed suicides. some suicides done in jail /prison are not suicides. // Take care be well Never allow rage to be turned inward and let me know, if u can stomach the sharing of the method (which your stepF chose as his exit strategy) God Bless and Merry CHristmas

I was very close to his father, James Pierce. He was my High School teacher in George Washington High School in Washington Heights NYC in the mid 90s. I wasn’t close to Justin but knew a lot of his friends. A lot of former students got together when the news broke. His father was very kind and down to earth. He went to student gigs at CBGBs and always staying in tune with the community making sure the kids in the area stay safe. Due to announcements that happened in the school when a student lost their lives. We all felt for Mr. Pierce and the family.

When you show the grave and then images of when they were alive, I think to myself, "and this is where it all ends." I was incarcerated with the adults in the State Pen at age 16 in 1996. I know how dark life can get and I don't know why I am still here. Can't believe I still have my sanity. One thing I do know is that no matter how dark the current situation is, it will pass. Some just can hang in there until the sun rises again. RIP

You don't go to heaven when you commit suicide. In eyes of the Lord suicide is the greatest of sin. Why it's not worth it no matter the pain. Compared to eternity life is short and no matter the pain it's not an out. Huge mistake...people need to quit being so secular and read the kjv Holy Bible and lean on Jesus Christ in dark times especially. Sorry if this offends you or others but it's clearly written and that book is truth. All praise and glory to Jesus Christ the king of kings and Lord of Lords the one true God.

Heaven is state of mind. When you pass over, no matter what way you pass over, you see what you EXPECT to see. 'Heaven' AND 'hell' are places we make up based on our frame of mind. You think that suicide is the greatest sin, when it fact, it's judging others (let's say). Exactly what you're doing in this comment. Justin is, in fact, at peace despite your forced religious thought process. So many like you are brainwashed to the point of thinking they know someone else's fate smh...just wait until you die...watch... King James has you brainwashed...good luck

I've lost close friends to suicide. Two very close cool guys. Both were in college, had great grades, had girls, friends and family. One had an unsuccessful attempt and during my first visit to see him in hospital, I ripped his ass for doing this and why he didn't talk to us, his friends about it. I was pissed and it may have been the wrong thing to do later but later than that, I was sure it made no difference. We talked for a long time and he said it was a stupid thing to do and it was just a moment. He was not drunk or on drugs but hitting a cement culvert at 90 mph is not a moment. I visited every day and he was happy and joking and getting hit on by every nurse in the hospital. All good right? NOPE As soon as he got out of hospital (and it took a long time but lucky as he was, being a jock and in good shape) he healed. But soon after his release he did the same thing but this time he figured out a bridge (all concrete then) at 110 in his fast as heck cougar would do the trick and it did. The other was a great guy that always had a smile on his face, again good looking from a family with money. Made good grades and was very grounded. One day, on a Sunday, while we both were in college, he came by my apt about 10 am. We sat and joked, laughed and even got a pizza. He stayed till about 1 pm then left laughing. 8 pm that night, a buddy of mine came by all shook up because that guy had went to the cemetery, laid on the grave of his brother that died at birth, put a gun to his head and killed himself. Turns out he had gone by that day and spent time with his closest buddies, which he considered me one of them. Everyone said the same thing about what a good mood he was in and no sign of anything. What I learned about suicide is people have made their mind up. At least what I know of it with these two. They didn't sit crying in their homes, or lose their minds trying to decided to take their lives. They have made that decision and are almost calm about it. A lot of us had one of two reactions. One we hated we didn't notice or that they didn't come to them and talk or the other, (like me) pissed they did it. I don't know the answer to this. With all the sources of help, the percentage of suicides have increased and I've never been convinced that seeing a professional has stopped a person that has made that decision to end it. No way to gauge those numbers. I'm sure it's helped people in crisis but I doubt it's stopped those that have crossed the bridge, so to speak.

The movie kids yes that is a great depiction of what we all did or most of us. ( I was the rebel kid) And being the same age in the 90s watching that movie knowing he was around the same age it was like, You're watching your own life story if you were one of those kids. Unfortunately I went through some of the things in that movie, So that wasn't what we are could relate to and yes I suggest that if you have not watched it watch It. He was great in next Friday and I think if he was still living he would had surpassed a lot of the actors of today. Thank you for doing this and remembering him and may❤ he rest in paradise

Exactly what you said was exactly what I was going to post. Suicide has to be the worst way to lose a loved one. They will live for the rest of their lives wondering if there was something they could have done to prevent it. They will forever be asking why. Thank you Scott for doing a video on Justin Pierce, I watched KIDS, absolutely brilliant movie about teenagers growing up, Casper was always the nice guy, even when he was off his head, loved his skateboarding, a must see movie. Justin was such a good looking young talented man, it’s so sad he took his own life, I guess he never knew how much he was loved. RIP Justin Pierce ❤️❤️💐💐💐, we still love and remember you today. All the best Scott, you take care to. Xxx🤟🏼✌️⭐️👍

This is amazing Scott. I stayed in vegas twice and paid a visit in the bellagio too but had no idea about this story. I would have loved to see that floor. It’s amazing what one can learn from your channel as I said time and time again. Gone too soon. Great video but sad story 😢

My cousin committed suicide on November 8th 2009. He had a rough upbringing bouncing from foster home to foster home and had addiction issues for years. He would only be 45 this year. He hanged himself in his bathroom and his 4 year old daughter found him. RIP to my cousin Billy. I hope he finally found some peace. His daughter is now a guidance counselor and i know he'd be so proud of her. I love you billy and think about you everyday ❤️.

A excellent view! I didn't know much about him, but what a comprehensive job Scott amazing. It shows also Mental health issues can happen to anyone and from any walk of life. A great example to bring awareness to this serious situation. A Sad one. But if people don't feel right please ask or reach out because there is help out there and know your loved, and are a important part of society and others around you. Luv&Peace 💛✌🏼 Ty so very much for your excellent vlogs.

RIP Justin. Always so sad when the demons win. I hope he's found the peace in Heaven, that so eluded him here on Earth. On a lighter note-Man, the background music in this episode gave major "dead mall video" vaporwave vibes, lol. Loved it. And the Bellagio is absolutely gorgeous-but I bet the price tag that comes with staying there isn't!

My youngest brother committed suicide July 6th, 2022. He was 24 years old. As someone who struggled with mental issues before, I understand what my brother was going through, I just wish I could've helped him. It may not always seem like it, but the majority of people really do care. Justin Pierce was well on his way to becoming a big actor. He was hilarious as Roach. As always, thank you Scott, for doing an amazing job with your content
