The Who's success was nearly cut short when one of them nearly killed another band member in a drunken fight - and the instigator may not be who you'd expect.

Led Zeppelin wasn't part of Britian's Big Four (The Who, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, and The Kinks) but they should have as well as replacing The Beatles in this spot for kicking 1970s music's ass.

I'm not surprised. These guys saw things that didn't make any sense. So when they probably experienced times where there hadn't been someone to talk to them about people" unglued." So drugs were a way to kind of "join in" wrather than come to terms with activities that may seem similar to drugs? Chances are that some kind of mental illness ran in their family. It's unfortunate that it combined with drugs.

The narrator got this wrong. It was Townshends stash that Daltry flushed down the toilet. Townshend was the one who attacked Daltry with a tambourine

I think Motörhead holds the crown for loudest live band. Lemmy for damn sure believed they were...and I agree with him. RIP
@ConradNeill
@ConradNeill Жыл бұрын
I always believed it was Hawkwind who held that crown. I met a music industry guy in London many years ago who told me that he suffered retina damage during a Hawkwind concert. He spent the entire gig in front of a PA stack, claiming the bass bins did the damage. He said it took months for his eye to regain sight and not point in a different direction to the other eye. Whether it's Motörhead or Hawkwind who hold the title is secondary to the fact, Lemmy was part of the loudest band in the world. RIP

A little remembered story , about the Who , was a group called Johns children , this is the story from wilkapeda .who where managed by the Yardbirds manager! Simon napier Bell . In April 1967 Napier-Bell arranged for John's Children to tour Germany with one of Britain's premier rock groups, the Who as the latter's supporting act.[5][11] The Who were notorious for their own wild stage performances, which included smashing their instruments.[12] John's Children pulled out all the stops and upstaged the Who with performances that included Marc Bolan whipping his guitar with a chain, Townson attacking his drums, Ellison and Hewlett pretending to fight each other, and Ellison ripping open pillows and diving into the audience.[3][4] In Düsseldorf they caused a riot at the venue, and in Ludwigshafen they nearly prevented the Who from playing.[2] The Who were not happy and John's Children were sent home mid-tour. According to Pete Townshend, they were "too loud and violent."[5] (ha , ha ) what goes around comes around ! so they say ! So there you go ! but though loud music is exciting , as long as your not to close to the amplifiers , its also ironic , one of the catolysts , for it , was Jim Marshall , who was born localy also in , Acton West London , and taught drums /and played jazz , with Petes dad Cliff , and when Jim opened a drum shop localy , on the uxbridge road , Pete talked Jim into selling guitars / amplifiers , but american imports ,where to exspencive , so Marshall amps where born ! Also ,in acton , Burns /fenton weill ,guitars , where founded , and Vox amplifiers too ! seasons greetings and best wishes to all . ritchie

You want to hear loud? I think it was 77 and Supertramp got multiple warnings from the cops, who said, if you don’t turn down the volume we’ll kill the electricity to the venue. It was the first and last time a concert was held outdoors. If anyone is still around who attended the concert at McMahon Stadium in Calgary I have one question: Can you hear me now? 😂 man, you gotta love rock and roll. Especially when it comes to pushing boundaries and the rules. There’s no way the cops would’ve pulled the plug. The ensuing riot and chaos would’ve been horrific.

Wasn't Townsend done for child pornography in the past? *Rock star bailed after child porn probe arrest* [Credit: Mail Online. Date not given ...] Police bailed rock star Pete Townshend today, after more than an hour of questioning at Twickenham police station in connection with child pornography offences. The 57-year-old was arrested under the Protection of Children Act 1978 before being driven into the police station at around 7.25pm last night. Police had carried out a search of The Who guitarist's home in Richmond after the star said he wanted police to check his computer for child pornography. Townshend's solicitor, John Cohen, [yes: *Cohen* ] gave a statement outside the police station shortly after midnight, as the rock legend was driven away. He said: 'Mr Townshend has been interviewed this evening by police. He has not been charged with anything and has been bailed to a future date when he may be required to answer some questions.' He added: 'He is going home to get some rest. He is tired but all right.' As the statement was being read, Townshend was spotted leaving the police station lying down on the back seat of a Mercedes, partially covered by what appeared to be a bag or a coat. His solicitor said he had been questioned by police for an hour and 20 minutes. The 57-year-old had said he *used his credit card on one occasion to look at a website advertising child porn* 'purely to see what was there' and that he found paedophilia appalling ... His London mansion and office were searched by police after his name was included in a list of 7,000 people in Britain whose identities were passed on to British police by the American authorities who smashed a US pay-per-view service. Scotland Yard confirmed the guitarist had been released on police bail but refused to say on which date he must return to a police station. Officers from Scotland Yard's paedophile unit, major investigation team, and child protection unit - all attached to Operation Ore - arrived at Townshend's mansion at the top of Richmond Hill in south-west London shortly before 3pm yesterday, following a *prior arrangement* with the rock star. The house was searched, and he was arrested on suspicion of possessing indecent images of children, suspicion of making indecent images of children and suspicion of incitement to distribute indecent images of children. 🤔
