I was in on the X-Transbots because it was less expensive than the others. All told, Motormaster is over $400. I think the 'outrage' is that we were all expecting it to be cheaper overall. I got the first figure for $39.99 when it came out, then they slowly increased the prices, until Motormaster was over ten times the cost of the first one I bought. Plus, as you mentioned, on their Facebook page they said the accessories were included with the trailer, and now they are not. When these companies put out figures one at a time, we are all taking a huge risk that they will still be around to complete the set, which could be years away. And we pray that the next bot that comes out will at least be similar in price to the ones we've already bought. We have to trust that they will not gouge us, and for the most part, they have not, until now. They are coming out with a Defensor, and I am hesitant to invest now. It's not like we can wait and see what happens, because if we don't buy in the beginning, it may be too late by the time the last one comes out to get the first. It is structured to get you hooked, then it's too late to stop, or you've invested for nothing, and can only hope you can resell without a loss, if you want out out.

Honestly, the way the KO ended up makes me wonder if it was just a PR stunt from the very beginning by XTB to help with marketing. A lot of people hopped on the XTB bandwagon for that alone.

I’m waiting for the Zeta Stunticons and Protectorbots I hope they make those in the future.

I passed on DX-9, and went with XTB and FT Stunticons. My plan was to use FT for bot modes, and XTB for combined mode. I'm still digesting this price, but I think Keith may have made me reverse my plan for which ones are the bots and which one is the combiner.

Fanstoys has the advantage of sitting back, and watching all these potential negatives. Hopefully they come out with a Ft high quality product. Xtb had me , but tripped me up at the finish line lol.

The problem is that every shot had the arm shells. We were told the extra faces would be included. The price sucks - but it's that they lied to us for years by splitting out things the set was always advertised with by putting it into an overpriced add-on set. It killed the good will the company had. I was really excited for their Defensor - but there's no way people are going to buy up all the limbs without knowing how that set's going to end now. I think they've made it, and all their future combiners, DOA.

So, I’m getting the trailer and the accessories pack; and, I absolutely love the way the combined mode looks.....but the way XTB has handled this suuuuuuuucks. On top of charging a ridiculous amount for the accessories which should have been included, they are making people buy items for a toon and a toy look. If anything, these should have been two smaller accessories packs. Make the shells one pack, the car cannons a second pack, and package the faces with the trailer.

Getting trailer and accessories!! I was printing the car canons at $20 each. This $75 is cheaper than my printer to make 4 car canons.

The easiest way I've seen to tell if the car shells are on the combined mode arms is looking at the front of Dragstrip. If you can see his front wing from the front (side of the car) then they are not on, when the shells are on you just see a squared off front end at the top of the shoulder.

Just got my DX9 Dragstrip in the mail. THERE IS NO WAY to show or tell you how good this Menasor looks in hand completed. I am so glad I went with DX9...completed and posed it is absolute perfection. Pics dont do it justice. You gotta look at it on a shelf...the Dragstrip makes it. Changes the whole aesthetic of the product.

My issue is, I didn't buy this set for perfect. I bought this set to be good enough. Fans Toys and DX9 had sets that were better than this and I knew that. But I am getting what I am paying for with the XTB set. I get a decent figure and at a good cost. None of them were perfect, but they looked good and I expected the combine mode to be decent even if it had issues. I knew it wouldn't be as big as Zeta Bruticus or Toy World Devy, but it was close enough. Now, I have a set that is at best average and paying a price that is well above average. If they had released the trailer at the cost of the Motormaster and wanted $75.00 for the upgrade kit I would have been fine. But at $300.00 (or just $230.00) I can't justify the cost to benefit. If I wanted Fans Toys quality I would have bought Fans Toys. I am also very annoyed that they separated the extras accessories from the trailer after saying they would be combined.

This is so frustrating, I can’t afford to have two sets of masterpiece stunticons... it appeared that I was going in on a very good but yet the cheapest option for a masterpiece Menisor.. I can’t afford to break my bank... I will have to save up to be able to afford that, and even then I’m going to be broke for the next two weeks after I pay for it... I would have bought the DX9 if I had known xtransbots was going to do this.

Unfortunately I’m all in on this set, as it’s the only company I committed too. I get that xtransbots needs to make money but splitting up accessories and trailer sucks. Giving us a base mode that nobody asked for or wanted and electronics that very few people ever use to jack up the price also sucks. This is going to leave a lot of people salty and most likely pass on their next combiner, Defensor.

Well said. I plan go in on the set because of the potential of having a team and a combined mode on display separately, hopefully. If the set ends up having issues...it will be an order 66 on a global level...collectors all over the world will turn on this company, which I hope doesn’t happen because I have enjoyed most their products from the beginning. I think it was a good idea splitting the trailer and accessory kit. I'm someone who views a ton of accessories as 'Something I need to put in a box so I don't lose them'. I'd see buying the full set for $300 as me paying a bunch of money for things I'd never use. And I don't know what you're on about, but $230 for what is essentially a Titan-class triple-changer seems perfectly acceptable to me. I paid around that for Fans Hobby Double Evil and that feels right.

I don’t follow the back and forth of things as closely as I should, so for some reason knowing that the trailer was going to be a giant skeleton (it’s the only way toon accurate Menasor works) I was expecting the price to be high. What I wasn’t expecting was the add on accessories (some of which seem they might be integral to the look ) but the price is still where I thought it would be for the whole package give or take. My concern now is if they will do a complete package (like most companies do) a few months down the road that significantly discounts the whole package and further infuriates the early adopters.

1. Can you make an objective video about what makes a transformation fun? 2. I hope you guys are taking notes on the collection videos. Hopefully at the end you can make a video about an overview of what makes a good collection display with examples.

If this ends up being on the level of Keith's simba, which excelled at both combined & standalone modes, alot more would be forgiven.

I wouldn't doubt the shipping killed alot of American retailers. I just shipped 12 things from Anime Export at once, mostly 1/12 scale figures, and end up costing me $200 to ship, which is absolutely bonkers. Between tariffs and Covid, the toy industry and consumers, like many other industries, I think are really starting to see ramifications of worldly issues.

I’m buying the trailer and accessories...for the G2 set, to see it finished. I have heard so many people say that they aren’t supporting their Defensor, but if Keith knows what scale to create the Protectabots/Defensor partsforming components already, wouldn’t it be easier now to distribute the cost across the figures? Do you think there would be a separate set we have to purchase for the combiner components then? I suppose there’s a lesson to be learned from this on the part of XTB but will they learn it?

It’s a pretty dumb move by XTB. Leaving the trailer alone, this will for sure cost them future businesses.

Kind of glad I stepped out of this set. I have the first two released bots. I'm focusing on Fans Toys for my Menasor. Just hope they don't let me down. PS. TFsource sucks for customers that are NOT part of the contingent US. I live in Alaska and TFsource charges 4x more than BBTS for the same shipment. Shipping to Alaska does NOT cost more. It's the same whether the item goes to New York or Alaska. Just a head up for anyone interested, Check your shipping costs from the vendor to you. USPS does not charge more for US shipments no matter which state you live in.

Great video, love the use of data visualisation. XTB have dropped the ball, you can't expect people to pay approx 45% of a sets cost just for them to combine, so glad the scale didn't work for me, happy with Fanstoys & DX9.

I feel like getting DX9 Copone and getting 3d printed car shells for combiner skeleton (or waiting for 3rd/4th party to make non-transforming car shells), and keeping xtransbots for robot mode might be a option worth considering if already invested in xtransbots.

I’m in on FT & XTB and was gonna use XTB for combine because FT bots look so amazing with Spoiler being my favorite FT thus far but now that might go the other way cause I’m still unsure about going in on that trailer, my dragstrips arm broke so quality is questionable.

No one seems to address that deep black finish of the main body. In their renders Menasor looks darkest gray ( like DX9 ) with black details to contrast. Will they be releasing a more toon coloured version in a year like past figures? We know the toy/youth version trailer will come down the road.

Addicts will find a way to get there fix no matter how much it hurts them or how sketchy their dealer is. I would know.

All the photos up to one they posted yesterday, show combined mode only with the 'optional' arm filler pieces. So just how optional are they when you can't show a photo of it without them?

It would be helpful for all of the company's making MP combiners to give rough costs at the beginning for the entire set. Or explain how the costs will work. It's not helpful to invest in two of the figures to learn later that the set will be much more than you expected.

I wish the there was a Motor Master Trailer that could contain all 4 cars. Trailers typically seem too short compare to the real world which is typically 45 or 53 feet long.

Why didn’t they include complete shells for the combine mode? The cars are stuck to his arms and legs anyway. That way you have a complete menasor (who doesn’t really transform) and you can keep the bots in robot, or car mode. + Menasor has less weight that way, so his joints should hold up easier. Heck, this way you get a sort of double set for the price of one. Also it’s almost always a bad thing if you have to redesign your product, they’ve should have kept him smaller imho. Anyways I’m in for the FT and I’m glad I did. Great vid, cheers

You're spot on with your assessment. I've never bought an xtb figure but I was thinking about getting their defensor. I don't care about the character so saving money on a quality product sounded good. I wouldn't care if combined mode was a bit short since I could see defensor being shorter than the rest. But the price being what it is xtb isn't competing with zeta, dx9 they are shoulder to shoulder with fanstoys. So I guess I'll wait for ft and if it doesn't come, oh well.

I never liked the idea of the car shells and the pictures I've seen of Menasor without them look fine to me. The other accessories don't interest me, so it's just the trailer I'm buying.

The low price was *the* deciding factor when I preordered Breakdown and joined team XTB instead of FT or DX9. I expected $300-350 for the whole set. I cidn't expect the trailer to be seperate from Motormaster, and I didn't expect that the trailer wouldn't even include all the bits and pieces. The car-mode guns should have come with the individual cars. If I knew it was gonna total $600 I never would have bought them. I'm not sure if my preorder for the trsiler still stands, but if not, I might not bother renewing it.

I bought the trailer and accessories. Regardless of how it turns out, I will not buy xtb again.

I feel the price, when all is said and done, is fairly reasonable. I say that to say this though; I was in on XTb over FT and DX9 until the 3rd bot. When I saw the prices were on the rise, I knew what was coming, and quickly jumped to preorder FT's first stunticon release. Figured if the final cost was going to be comparable, I'd rather go for something of higher quality. Not a fanboy of any; I just like to weigh the cost benefit, style, and quality. Anyway, nice sit down, Mr. Skullface.

Something that needs to be brought up is Fanstoys raising their prices on reissues. They raised the price on Spoiler $40 on the recent reissue.

You talked about not stepping over the dollar to pick up the penny, which they avoided earlier, but may be what they did with the trailer at the end. Obviously the fanbase are fickle so we will see what happens in the end, but I've seen a TON of comments from people who said they will buy the trailer to finish this set because they feel priced in, but they will not go in on another XTB combiner after this move.

I don't think the consumer should have to bear the cost of the redesign like I feel this trailer and accessories set is doing. I feel that the accessories set shoulda been included in the $230 price point and it would have been fine. I really sucks that a completed motor master is going to be $350+. But as always I think the point is right, the shock of the price we will get over faster then where the trust has betrayed us.

I get separating the two sets - get the trailer if these are your alt mode set, get both if your combine mode. That's better than forcing you to get both at $300 if you only want the trailer.

I actually have the XTB Dr. Egg... And now with the figure in-hand I'm fine with the price. It's one of their best releases as far as quality, feel, paint is concerned. It's an incredibly beautiful and hefty center piece. As far as this Trailer goes, first the accessories were to be included w/ the trailer. Second, they released their Figures under the tagline that this would be the Budget release Menasor, coming in substantially less than the competition. Now its ONLY 10% less than the FT version, which puts them as a direct competitor with Fans Toys which sadly they are not. And with Fans Toys you get (2) completely different options for Menasor, so that value already exceeds then 10% price difference. Bobby's right, they lost a lot of trust here.

I chose the Xtransbots for it's original height. I didn't want it re-tooled, taller, delayed or more expensive. I'm afraid it is now too tall for my collection. How did they get the extra height without tampering with the height of the bots? Will the bots fit and look naturally on the new frame? If I want to complete my Menasor, I HAVE to buy this trailer. I am not the type of collector who would buy more than one to keep as vehicle mode, or bot mode or combined mode. I bought this toy so that I can transform it to vehicle, to bot, to combine IF/when I wanted to. Spending extra money to buy a set for different display purposes is NOT something I want to do. Comparing the prices of the different company that made a Menasor does nothing to alleviate the sting of the trailer price. For me, it doesn't make sense to compare prices with other companies because your basing your price on Other companies' products and not on the merits of your own. I'm not arguing with what you presented, Bobby. I am just really pissed at this company. Why? Because I feel that whoever made this decision decided that they had their customers by the balls being 5 robots into this product and they can charge whatever price they decide to match with other competing products and maximize their profit. So for me; Screw X-transbots. I'm buying the trailer and I'm done with them.

I've never paid $100 for any of my DX9 limb bots. I averaged $75 for each and i've gotten them all, even the G2 bots.

I 💯 % agree with you! I my self collected all of the XTB and to get hit in the face with this cost is crazy, so I will have my DX9 as the combiner and the XTBin robot mode. What a bummer lol.

I'm in on this set but I totally agree with you on the tactics that were taken here being shady but I would add that its also competitive. I don't like the way dx9 looks and my plan is to actually use Fanstoys for combined mode and XTB for bot mode. I really believe that the Fanstoys silence is due to to the fact that they are retooling their trailer now too. So I would not be surprised to see a final release from them higher than this trailer even. Love both sets though

I'm out on purchasing anymore XTB. With them raising their prices over FTs, I'm done. Their quality is just not high enough to justify their new price point.

Man, I didn't know about any of this. I quit the XTB Stunticons right before Motormaster came out (not because of anything specific to the Motormaster, just because I've been phasing out of 3P Masterpieces all together), but if I'd stuck with it, this would've made me pretty frosty.
