This film takes you into the most hidden secrets behind the Treasure to the Queen of England.
You will enter into its history, but also discover the ghosts, the murders committed, the coups that rocked the kingdom, and thefts that have been devilishly carried out...
This is also an opportunity for you to discover jewels, precious stones, and other treasures accumulated over the centuries. Through images and archival footage, some long forgotten, you will plunge into the reality of these discoveries.
This documentary film takes you into nations and mines where the most beautiful stones have been found; in South Africa, for the discovery of the largest diamond in the world; and then to Amsterdam, where the famous diamond dealer family, Asscher, which still exists to this day, from father, to son, to grandchild. In the first part of the twentieth century they cut these gems. The current descendant of this family will tell you about their incredible adventure.
Thousands of miles away, in Tajikistan, this film will transport you into the forgotten, but still active mine, where the Black Prince's Ruby was discovered.
You will follow in Golconda, India, the road to Koh I Noor, whose diamond cursed history will be revealed.
Then you will go behind the scenes to the house of Christie's, in London, to assist in the preparation in the auction of the jewels of Princess Margaret.
Finally, you will meet with the players to the life of the Treasure; the Jeweler of the Jewels, the only man allowed to touch the crown, and to maintain the security officer in the Tower of London, and you’ll follow the Queen, when she brings the royal jewels, most notably at the time of official ceremonies.

Very informative but the sound is horrendous! One needs to learn how to edit to where only one voice is heard at a time. Also when voicing over mining equipment lessen the background sounds to a faint blip, Otherwise you're only detracting to what otherwise would have been a tremendous documentary.

According to the website of Mappin & Webb, they were granted the Crown Jeweler royal warrant in 2017. However Garrards holds a Royal Warrant as Jewellers, Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, appointed by HRH The Prince of Wales. I am not sure what this fellow from Garrard is doing in this film. It must be old footage. Interestingly, most of the the royals remain loyal to Garrard for their individual needs.

Fascinating, but very flippant about the acquisition of jewels! An interesting side quote from Pakistan deserves more thought. The diamond did not "fall" into British hands, it was "gifted" to Victoria from the 8 year old last Maharaja of the Punjabi. This is less interesting because of huge gaps in some historical information.

This is a very interesting video but it is such a shame that they had the music too loud and the foreign voices much louder than the English. I see that it is in different languages so I don’t understand why they even felt the need to have the foreign language sound on but to just tell it in English as they did he rest of the video. It is so bad that there are parts of the video you can’t even hear what is being said in English.

Nga Mauk. That’s the original name of the Black Prince’s Ruby. It belonged to the royal family of Burma. It was the most prized ruby of the Crown Jewels of the House of Baw. King Thibaw and Queen Supalayat, who became the last king and queen of the Konbaung Dynasty in 1878. Thibaw Min was defeated in the Third Anglo-Burmese War and forced to abdicate by the British in 1885. On 25 November 1885 they were taken away in a covered carriage, leaving Mandalay Palace the southern gate of the walled city along the streets lined by British soldiers and their wailing subjects, to the River Irrawaddy where a steamboat called Thuriya (Sun) awaited. Thibaw was 27 and Supayalat 26. Supayalat never lost her composure. She was pregnant at that time and was accompanied by her husband, their two daughters, her two sisters, and her mother, they were all exiled to India. In the commotion and haste that transpired during their abduction, some of the crown jewels disappeared including a large ruby called Nga Mauk that Colonel Edward Sladen, a British army officer who oversaw the surrender, insisted on being handed over for safekeeping. Thibaw saw an opportunity in 1911 when King George V visited India, and wrote for the return of the Burmese crown jewels, but only received a reply that Col. Sladen had died in 1890. Nga Mauk was believed to have subsequently turned up as the largest ruby on the British crown, the Black Prince’s Ruby. It was recognized by Princess of Kyundaung in whose charge the ruby used to be. Exactly one year from stealing the Nga Mauk, Colonel Sladen was knighted on November 26, 1886 and five months later, on April 14, 1887, he retired as Sir Edward Bosc Sladen.

@lissaallan 3 жыл бұрын
Ummmm... while that's interesting and yes there are the Burma Ruby's. The Black Prince's Ruby (spinel) dates back to the 14th century and belonged to the Prince of Granada and was a peace exchange. Your history is correct just not the right Ruby, there is the coronation portrait of Victoria dating from 1838 and it clearly shows the Black Prince's Ruby (spinel). This makes your time line impossible and the Black Prince's Ruby is infact a Spinel which had a different chemical makeup from a Ruby. A spinel shows light from a single color, where as the Ruby shows different colours of light from different directions. However the Nga Mauk was infact a Ruby and did disappear, it was most likely plundered and maybe even by royalty.
@mayajrj
@mayajrj 2 жыл бұрын
Completely wrong. The Black Prince's ruby is actually a spinel and it was given to the Prince , son of Edward III for services rendered in helping Don Pedro of Castile help put down a revolt by his illegitimate brother,. It came back to England then and when it was next worn it was in Henry V's crown. It was thought to be a ruby at first but in 1783 it was discovered to be a spinel as until then spinels were thought to be rubies.

@@mayajrj History is written by the victors. Most of the items displayed in their museums are things they taken from other countries through the corrupt British East India Company. Even the Koh-i-Nur, which they mined in India, is part of the British Crown Jewels. Their modus operandi is to invade a country, depose its leader to another country, and steal all the Royal jewels. Just like they did to Bahadur Shah II, the last Mughal emperor and King of Delhi, who was deposed and exiled to Burma, officially ending the Mughal Empire. This was marked by the auction of quantities of jewels and other valuable relics of Bahadur Shah’s court, and the Shah’s crown is now part of The Royal Collection Trust. On a final note, of the 195 nations in the world (Worldometer count, although UN lists 251 nations), the British have invaded all but 22 of them. Not crap, just facts. Deal with it.
