I don't know how I did it, but I convinced the school admin to let me pull one for a drill. Apparently it's an older panel without a drill feature. Have to call the fire department because it calls automatically. It's seriously fun to do something that you NEVER do, but without the consequences (apart from having to go outside, in Florida, in the summer.)

I knew someone back in elementary school who pulled the alarm right before the end of the day. The next day our principal made him get on the PA and explain what he did and why you shouldn’t do it. This was in the fall of 1985 and my then principal was the type of person who would yell and humiliate you right in public no matter what the situation was. Lunch time was a typical time where something would get him going.

In MA it can lead to an on-the-spot arrest with penalties of up to a $1000 fine and up to 2 years behind bars.

In the UK it is treated as a civil manner but, you can still get in pretty serious heat by the headmaster (headmaster is the proper term for school principal over there) and they might make you pay that 290£ plus VAT fine.

According to my local fire department they said they went to went to my school 62 times so far this year. A false alarms happens at least once a week. It’s so annoying and no one evacuates ever unless they announce a drill.
@jeffk7734 Жыл бұрын
You’re kidding. Have they found out what has been causing all these false alarms?
@ethansalazar8283 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffk7734 At my old school it was a variety of things from students pulling the alarm to sensor malfunctions. At my new school they seem to have a newer fire alarm system with no pull stations and rare malfunctions.
@jeffk7734 Жыл бұрын
@@ethansalazar8283 that can happen too. I guess that I am old fashion about fire alarms with no pull stations, because what if there was another type of emergency such as a medical emergency or something like that and the closest thing to you would be a pull station? I also don’t believe in these pull stations where if it goes off at say a school, and then a teacher or whoever would need to signal the real thing to get help. A couple of months after I left a school I went to they had so many problems with the system internally that they had to cut the summer program a little short.
@ethansalazar8283 Жыл бұрын
@@jeffk7734 yeah there’s very few pull stations scattered across campus. I’m assuming you’d have to tel a staff member to set off the alarms if the smoke detector doesn’t set off the system already.

The stopper will prevent this from happening because the stopper has a loud alarm to draw immediate attention to the pull station and the person will get caught.

A way to prevent cooking alarms is to not put a smoke detector in your kitchen but rather in a room across from it high up. And yes just because these cause false alarms does not mean you shouldn’t get one. And I have a friend who has a smoke detector wired up to her alarm system. Her attic caught on fire and the fire department truly is fast because they put the fire out before it could cause damage!
@Videokid7036 жыл бұрын
BMWman1029 then what if your stove catches fire sometimes smoke isn't fast enough to set off the fire alarms
@davidperry40133 жыл бұрын
Or use heat detectors instead of smoke detectors in the kitchen.
@pineappleroad2 жыл бұрын
I remember that before i moved house 3 years ago, whenever i used the oven it set the smoke detector off There were two detectors, one in the kitchen, and one just outside the kitchen, no other rooms had detectors (but where i live there is only a requirement for 1 detector per floor, and the house only had 1 floor) I started closing the kitchen door and opening the back door (which opened into the kitchen) whenever i used the oven, and that solved the issue

When they are younger and pull it I would think that most of the time they would be scared with the sudden alarm. In an earlier post I mentioned that there was a 5th grader at the time who for whatever reason decided to pull it. A couple of weeks later, the younger brother of one of the first graders was just curious and pulled it. I don’t know if that principal lost it on him, but I don’t think so since he didn’t just stand out there and humiliate that child who was maybe three or four, because like I said if you piss off this principal no matter what or where you would be getting yelled at no matter where you were in the school and no matter who was standing around.
