Burntraps design gives us an idea to what he is. We see that in his torso, revealing Aftons flesh, we see cables that are plugged into it. Even with the head of the Springbonnie suit, we see 2 bolts that are connected to Aftons skull. Matpat theorized that The Mimic put on the Bonnie suit with aftons remains. But that doesn’t add up, because we do see that Burntraps parts are being held together with scrap metal, and that there are pieces that seem to imply that someone was trying to fix him up. I do agree with your idea. When looking at The Blob in Ruin, you’ll see the Funtime Freddy’s eyes aren’t glowing. The Blob even retreats when Cassie gets close to it. You’d think The Blob would want to kill anything it sees, but it doesn’t. 🤔 Even the FNAF encyclopedia says that Burntrap, “isn’t the canon name”. It’s odd, but it does make you wonder. I’d love to hear anyones thoughts on this.

I think the idea of Glitchtrap having origins with the Mimic is plausible, but I’ve NEVER been able to see Burntrap and the Mimic endo being the same. The Help Wanted 2 ending always implied to me that Glitchtrap was the one ‘piloting’ Burntrap, hence the purple eyes, so the question for me was always more so ‘is Glitchtrap the original William, or did William die with Glitchtrap replacing him?’ I think the moment in Help Wanted 2 where the Mimic endoskeleton sorta argues with the virtual “Helpy” AI that we know is Glitchtrap from HW2 supports the idea that they’re totally different, and just share some details about their origins, if that

I’ve always liked to think of Glitchtrap as like a Horcrux from Harry Potter. After the pizzeria simulator fire someone retrieved some circuit boards from the burned out remains of his remains, which contained a small piece of his soul that went on to become Glitchtrap and had the goal of freeing the rest of his soul from UCN. Similarly, I’ve begun wondering if whoever retrieved that circuit board from Scraptrap ALSO retrieved one from Lefty and Scrapbaby, this being the reason we keep seeing so many plush babies and nightmarrionne plushies. Pieces of them were also put into the HW game, but perhaps not as large of pieces of their souls, hence their very simple nature. Similar to Glitchtrap they end up in the AR Network as well, hence their continued presence in Ruin and HW2.

Amazing video ID! It's really refreshing to hear that someone in the community actually believes that William isn't gone. It may be frustrating, even I find myself frustrated and I enjoy all of his appearances. However, to just assume he's gone without looking at all the details is just crazy to me. My theory has always been that each "ending " happened at different points in time if Gregory IS patient 42 then as a child in therapy, there WOULD be a chance than since he wouldn't talk they found a different way for him to communicate which was drawing. The pictures being there in ruin could just be them falling out of his bag (found in the basement), them being in presents could just be for continuity and to make them easier for the player to see since outside of theorists (love you , all, you're amazing props to you) no ordinary player is combing through THAT thoroughly to spot random pieces of paper on the floor ( as evidence by Poppy Playtime chapter 3 where even Matpat missed some of the notes in the school)

I believe that the reason Burntrap has purple eyes in the Burntrap ending is because a piece of Glitchtrap is inside of him, and that's the reason why the PQ ending doesn't extinguish Glitchtrap completely. The Princess kills Glitchtrap in the arcade, but not the other piece of him that's in Burntrap (it also makes sense with the context of Glitchtrap leaving the recharge station in HW 2). But for the BurnMimic people it can work as evidence for why the Mimic stops acting like Afton, because HW 2 happens before and/or during RUIN, so that'd be the reason for why Burntrap stops being Burntrap and becomes just the Mimic.

Burntrap makes demonic human noise. Which is eerie and being more sentient. Glitchtrap stuffed Cassie’s father inside of mapbot.

So, my take one Remnent and Agony, and fire: Remnent is the sum of all emotions and memories infused into metal by ionic bonding. The first heating burns away self awareness and identity by replacing ionic bonds with the emotions melding into the metal as an alloy, refines it more 'moldable'. Memories are in fact, malleable. At this point Remnent is a sentience juice with reviving properties. An alchemist's fantasy. This is was what William was after and using in CBPW. This is also why he has to keep it at a constant temperature, too cool and it looses potency. He also has to re-melt it to burn away the chaff of "free will" by scupping every time a Funtime gets too self aware. Once burnt and overheated, all that remains is the strongest emotion- agony. So burning remnent is an agony distillery.

If the Mimic and Afton are still around, might as well just let them have a fistfight. Now that is the kind of spice the FNAF universe needs.

The purple eyes on Burntrap is all the proof I need to know that William Afton is Burntrap. Heck, the Security Breach Files book even calls Burntrap Afton. Also the purple mist that surrounds him as he is released from the recharging station.

I love the idea that glitchtrap is William Afton but not all of William. Humans are complex, but the thought that glitchtrap is specifically a code form of William makes sense if the code in question was refined down to essentially his “murder directive” only. That’s why it’s both robotic yet clearly spawned from something human. Glitchtrap is literally the embodiment of Williams murder routine and the mimic was on the bench watching and learning from glitchtrap.

ID you made me look. The arm that looks curled.... That was the arm he was missing in Pizzeria Simulator. It's quite possible Afton was still getting used to having that arm back as Burntrap. His mind had not fully connected to the fact it worked again. When you look at the end sequence, it looks as if Burntrap doesn't have full use of his limbs or doesn't know they all work. So it's possible Burntrap is William Afton.

A quote from the Fourth Closet from William really supports the idea that Williams soul is in his body aka Burntrap: "The spirit follows the flesh, it would seem, and also the pain." And "If I wish to become my own immortal creation, my body must lead my spirit to its eternal home." The book trilogy gets some grief but it's got some great William Afton moments that answer a lot of questions!

Maybe he's using the mimic ai as a tool? Think about it, this man has had all his children die(multiple times for some) been burned(multiple times) and been left alone for LONG periods of time(multiple times). While we get not a lot of what being a possessing spirit is like, obviously your consciousness stays in tact. This man should be a raving lunatic, completely past insane, also explains the body movement, guys probably forgotten how to walk. So of he would happen to come into contact with the mimic (how doesn't matter) he's definitely smart enough to find a way to spin it to his advantage, and hey, it's already a murderous monster, so he's halfway there already.

This is a good video, and I agree with it. I’ve recently had a theory that Glitchtrap was a combination of the Mimic 1 program and the mind of William Afton. After Afton escapes UCN, he highjacks the Mimic 1 programming and corrupts it. And after he came back as Burntrap and was killed by the Blob/Tangle, the Mimic was freed from Afton and regained control over itself. I honestly don’t see any evidence that debunks Glitchtrap being Mimic, but I also don’t see any evidence that debunks Glitchtrap being Afton either. I’ve been speculating that The Glitchtrap we see in Help Wanted 1 was Afton but the Glitchtrap we see in Help Wanted 2 is the Mimic. And until we get an ACTUAL confirmation of who Glitchtrap is, I’m just gonna to stick with this.

There is one important thing that distinguishes William Afton from other characters: Purple color. I know this may seem like some basic knowledge of FNAF but hear me out: Purple has nothing to do with Afton in universe, Afton doesn't wear purple clothes, drive a purple car, or anything similar. The color is just there for us, the players, so we could easily distinguish him in old arcade minigames. This was proven by both books and movie where William does not have any significant connection to the purple color at all. In universe, Afton's is NOT connected to purple in any way. With that being said if Mimic is both Glichtrap and Burntrap (who both are presented with purple) copying William he could not have seen purple color as something important to copy (glichtrap's vest, burntrap's eyes and smoke in the recharging station). For players character that is portrayed as purple should immediately be indicated that it's William or at least a member of the Afton family.

Another point is the existence of the STAFF bot recreation of the Afton’s in the Sticky Note Room. Mimic has no knowledge of Afton having a family in both games and books. It would make more sense if it was William, and this is his current goal: bring back his whole family, potentially through robot people as animatronics may screw him over again.

I've said this a million times on your channel and will say it again: *Thank you, literally thank you so much* not that I hate the mimic theory, but people are missing DELIBERATE evidence pointing that Mimic and Glitchtrap have many many differences.* *One more thing I've found that could possibly seperate them as characters* : Glitchtrap is also called the Anomaly, in RUIN, there's one part on the computer that the mimic leads you to, he tells you to destroy the anomaly, and no I'm not talking about MXES, I'm talking about the purple code that manifests within the neon signs, the sun and moon decorations, or literally anything around that area. If the mimic *is* Glitchtrap, then why would he be telling you to destroy the glitchy purple code that seems to be him from Help Wanted, (y know the grids and purple glitchy coding that manifests in objects) it just doesn't make sense to me, also when you destroy one of the said anomalies, there's a slight digital laugh towards the end. Also the mimic and glitchtrap have very different goals: the mimic literally only lures you because he wants to kill you, BUT Glitchtrap wants to lure you and take over your brain because he's NOT in the real world and needs someone to kill for him in the meantime. Mimic is already in the real world, just trapped underground. This also leads me to believe that Burntrap is not a seperate entity just being sort of pupeteered by the same person just in digital form. Hope this makes sense

Awesome explanation that has actually made me rethink things. I'm starting to think that Afton is still Burntrap and Glitchtrap was just his agony doing anything it could to bring him back. It isn't him but more like an extension of his will.

Also, something else that convinced me William was still around, at least on glitchtrap for a while, was the achievement you get on the PQ 4 ending, the description is "System threats found. Repair complete." and if the HW2 is before Ruin that would explain the shift from Glitchtrap/Burntrap being in control to being the Mimic itself, meaning that the Mimic was trying to get rid of William's control and eventually found a way through, allegedly, Cassie's dad

I think there's something to be said between everything after the inital base game of Security Breach. I remember Baz talking about a conversation with Scott and how he was much more involved with RUIN than inital Security Breach (Most likely due to his retirement) and it really feels like with the story of Security Breach something got lost in translation. When we look at Security Breach's base game originally pre-Ruin and Help Wanted 2, Security Breach is just a straight forward continuation of FNAF 6 and UCN's story: Cassidy as the Princess, Burntrap (At that time) implied to be a ressurected William Afton inside the burnt remains of Pizza Sim, and the fire ending literally being called the True Ending several times. It honestly felt pretty disconnected for whatever new direction the original Help Wanted seemed to be pushing us in. But then post Security Breach, this era of FNAF took a massive shift in the story its trying to tell, and we see it in Tales From The Pizzaplex, RUIN, and HW2. The Mimic, AR Shenanigans, A.I. being corrupted by Fazbear Entertainment's past. And thats the story we are leading off with now. In RUIN we see everything that made Security Breach a straight continuation of Pizza Sim and UCN is suddenly wiped away. The Princess is no longer called Cassidy, The Burntrap Ending is made Non-canon and rather Princess Quest is instead, with Help Wanted 2 reinforcing it. And now the thing being kept in the basment is the Mimic, sealed behind concrete like in Tales (also for some reason the Epilogues feeling the need to point out the Mimic had rabbit ears). On top of that Burntrap isn't even acknowledged, unlike the Blob, with his only minor reference being the drawing. Even the Blob got a quick 2 second cameo. So what happened? I have a feeling that Scott in the wake of his retirement and Security Breach's strained development (Covid, Drama, Retirment, Quantity over Quality, etc.) ended up being very unsure of where he wanted to take this new story, it was only after its reception thst the story was turned in a different direction, a story about A.I. and false realities, etc. While I know some people don't like the Mimic route the series is seemingly going to continue to go down now that whatever Glitchtrap was has been destroyed during HW2 (as confirmed by Steel Wool), this story trajectory at least feels more centered, I can give it that, it feels like we actually have a clear idea of what narrative we are following now, a new one rather than a half baked continuation of an already finished story. Hopefully it can continue to become more cohesive as time goes on in future games.

William Afton and Mike Afton can regenerate their flesh - Mike dies upon getting scooped and then, after Enard leaves him, regenerates enough flesh to come back to life after lying on the ground for a notable pause. Pay attention to the frame rate of that cut scene; there is an intentional pause before Mike stands back up, implying he did not immediately get back up. With William, notice he gets spring trapped and suffers/bleeds out on the ground, shaking for some time against the wall. He then rots, because like Mike, he literally died. However, like Mike, he is able to stand up again in FNAF3 and start lumbering around. Look at Springtraps FNAF3 model, FNAF6 Model and Burntrap's model; In FNAF3 there is pink-ish/redish flesh poking out from under the mascot parts. His flesh is re-growing; the red indicates a blood supply circulating through the tissue. In FNAF6 Scraptrap's skull is exposed; we see no rotten flesh on it and there is again pink/red living tissue now even growing over the skull itself. In SB we see less flesh, as it now forms long vines entangling the suit structure; again it's literal "flesh" and shows elasticity. To me, the visual changes indicate that Afton has, after every defeat in the games, began to regenerate after some period of "deadness". Without going back over it again too much, just compare Scraptrap's head to Springtrap's head (the secret images where he's pulling the mascot head off). In those shots it looks like his remaining face in FNAF3 has dead issue on it, but by FNAF6 there is no discolored tissue; it is either dry bone or living, healthy tissue attached to that bone.

I think it's safe to say ID's Fantasy is great enough to fill MatPat's role in lead FNAF theories.

My current preferred theory is that Glitchtrap is both Mimic and Afton; the idea being that the Spring Bonnie animatronic that William used had Mimic02 circuit boards installed for its behavior in animatronic form. William subsumed the Mimic’s program, essentially becoming it. As a result, Glitchtrap takes on a mimicry ability while also retaining William’s knowledge and desire to kill and some of Spring Bonnie’s personality traits, hence why Glitchtrap dances around in the Pizza Party ending.

I agree with you on this theory, also we see in fazebears frights that William had controll of something’s that he infected with his own agony also am I the only person who sees the white dots in burntraps eyes in the scene where he comes out of the rechargstation. I mean black eyes with white dots in the middle always means that an animatronik is possesed. Very good video

This also explains why, in help wanted 1, one of the endings is a recreation of Afton luring a child to a backroom and stuffing them in an animatronic. The mimic would've had to have seen Afton doing this, which is unlikely given what very little we know about the timeline. Glitchtrap would have to be connected in some way right to William in order for this to be possible. Great vid btw!

Thanks for making this clear to people. I’m so sick of seeing SO MANY people arguing saying glitchtrap/burntrap is just the mimic and afton’s dead or saying glitchtrap/burntrap is just afton and the mimic isn’t involved. There’s evidence connecting glitchtrap/burntrap to both. If golden Freddy can have two spirits inside it, why can’t glitchtrap be made up of two murderous robotic entities. As you can tell by reading this, I support the theory that it’s both because not only explain why there are strong connections to both mimic and afton from glitchtrap, but also because to me personally, it would make burntrap/glitchtrap a little more interesting. (If anyone wants to rebut, please be civil about it. A part of theorizing and coming to conclusions is just having fun and I hate seeing people in a fandom get torn apart just because they don’t believe in a theory).

Henry nixed everything about William and the murders from the Fazbear Ent. history books, and now it's happening all over again, because no one learned how to prevent it. This is really satisfying from a narrative perspective.

For me, it's always been as simple as this: Real Afton: Suffering UCN for enternity Mimic/Glitchtrap: AI following its coding unintentionally continues Afton's legacy. Upon its defeat, retreats to its old body to lure new followers. Burntrap: Failed attempt at reviving Afton, instead bringing back a zombie with basic coding of killing anything human on sight. So in short, Afton did make good on his promise, and has two versions of himself running around in the real world while he's busy living the dream of being a gamer forever in Hell. Well, nightmare for him, not for us.

The moisture in the mask could have something to do with the spring lock failure, you can't scram so you would be spitting a lot, and obv crying from the pain. And the hand sewn part can just be what the old spring Bonnie looked like, we can even see it on the posters. Cool video! I think as far as stakes go, it's better William comes back, and also exists as a virus. Like Sigma in Megaman X. Which Scott likes because he referenced the Megaman X 1 boss, Wolf Sigma. Also I think Old Man Concequences is a virus and not to ve trusted. A Phising (fishing) virus specifically. First off he's fishing when you see him, second he takes the form of someone or something trust worthy. All in the hopes of getting information and tricking the target.

It's funny, because we already have an explanation for Glitchtrap being related to Helpi and the VANNI mask. In Curse of Dreadbear, Vanessa makes that mask, and then if we go to the Prize Counter, she talks to Glitchtrap. We know this can't be used for her costume, as her outfit is very different, so I believe she created this mask for the Glitchtrap code to be able to find it's victims, and be mixed with the Mimic1 program.

Here’s what I think. 1. I’m personally under the belief that burntrap is just the body glitchtrap uses, I also think burntrap and the mimic from ruin are 2 separate beings, I personally think glitchtrap/burntrap is just a mimic variant. 2. If the tales book are canon I think it’s possibly the corpse burntrap has isn’t William afton but rather a young man from the story pressure named Luca who dies in a copy of the sprintrap suit. 3. I think glitchtrap is possibly a mimic programming that’s infected with the agony of William afton, that’s why he’s able to do things that an ordinary AI or computer virus couldn’t do. 4. I think the mimic in ruin is the og mimic from tales from the pizzaplex story. 5. I think William afton is still in his ultimate custom night hell but I think it’s possible that William could come back in a future game but it won’t be what we expect.

Thank you so much for continuing this ID. I think most FNAF fans are forgetting the lore that’s been established in the games. Theres so much many gaps and holes in the mimic being Burntrap. I would also like to mention when the mimic mimics Gregory, it acts like a brave little boy rather a scared little kid. Something I noticed when I read The Silver Eyes, there's a part toward the end where Afton mentions to Charlie and the gang how they're adults and are stopping the kid's happiest day, which I am starting to wonder even if happiest day isnt what we think it is. I haven't had a full theory yet, but it could be a lie or some false heaven conjured by Afton, would love to hear your thoughts on this

Personally I just like the idea of burntrap being afton (with spare parts) and malhare being a mix of afton and mimic using burntrap as, like a mech to do stuff in the physical world

I think William or what little is left of him utilising the Mimic is a neat compromise I've entertained though I posit that an important distinction is that William cannot be actually controlling/piloting/possessing the Mimic as that defeats the very narrative and concept of the character. The Mimic's whole deal is that it mimics things so if it was ultimately just a new vessel for William it might as well just be a generic endo. But say if William's spirit was now incredibly weak (like it was in Frights) and unable to actually do anything I could totally see the remnant of William's evil being a devil on the Mimic's shoulder on some Glitchtrap/Vanny type relationship dynamic.

This is pretty much what I thought was going on when Help Wanted & Security Breach came out.

Something ive never seen anyone point out is how differently burntrap and the mimic walk, one is slow lumbering and limping like he’s about to fall apart and the other one speed walks without issue and jumps at one point too, so if they were the same this detail would make sense like why would the mimic going from limping and slow moving to suddenly fast walking and not limping from security breach to ruin? Just a thought I figured I’d share seeing as I barely see anyone talk about it

The way I see it, I think that the Mimic in Ruin is it's own thing that went on the loose and continuously follows its programming with no ulterior motives or sentience. Glitchtrap on the other hand, is like a "digital/code" version of the Mimic and contains bits and pieces of Afton's personality, thoughts, memories, and so on, which where attached onto those circuit boards and stuff, and eventually integrated into the Mimic Program, giving it a purpose and desire to fulfill Afton's "programming" (thoughts, actions, murders, etc...) in the form of Glitchtrap. It may or may not be the spirit of William Afton or Afton himself in that form, but Glitchtrap sure ACTS like him, saying iconic lines like "I always come back", desiring to escape into the real world, and so on. I really liked the part of theory where you mentioned the theme of revenge from one of your previous theories, and how maybe it caused Cassidy to not let Afton die completely because of her desire for revenge against him, but at the same time, I really hope/wish that Afton's truly dead this time around to let he story move and not go back to the same "I always come back" trope, but I guess it's not too bad if he's just around in this ghostly "spirit" form.... 😅 I guess we'll have to wait and see if any future games fully confirm or deny Afton's death from FNAF 6 or as Glitchtrap in Help Wanted 2. Great theory, ID! :D
