Tiny Dancer was written about Bernies first Wife, Maxine. Hes angry at her now (I love you Bernie but you know Im right) and is trying to rewrite the story. It even says in Madman under her picture. Bernie wasnyt the one who saved Eltons life, that would be SUGARBEAR, the nickname of legendary Blues singer Long John Baldry. HES the one who told Elton not to get married to the abusive fiance Linda Woodrow. Linda used to beat Elton up.

Yes, Daniel, I'm as writer and that song sounds to me like a friend of his that died during the Aids epidemic, ( all the scars that won't heal, your eyes have died) Daniel you're a star, like he's now a light in the heavens, and about Daniels travelling tonight on a plane, sounds like his body is on a plane heading to Spain that he loved so much when he was alive, and the clouds in Elton's eyes sounds like he was crying, how wrong was I.

"Daniel" is the saddest song! It was more than what they covered. Daniel, the older brother, took the beatings from their father, to protect younger bro. Then went to Vietnam, after returning, had PTSD (of course PTSD wasn't a diagnosis back then) he couldn't handle it, committed suicide. His body was on the plane to Spain, it was the only place he was ever happy. I lost my older sister a couple of years ago, I always think of her when I hear this song. I can't listen to it with dry eyes.

Funeral For A Friend (Love Lies Bleeding) is the best Elton John song inmo, Taupin's lyrics and Elton's music is an awesome combination and just think, their collaboration was purely serendipitous. Addendum: I must add Grey Seal and Empty Garden these three are the best Elton John songs (many great songs however) imho...

@@oriolesandravens yeah you can probably put that Caribou classic up there too.. there's a lot of great ones behind Bernie taupin and Elton John songs. man you don't realize the 1980s empty garden is about John Lennon's murder. Reggie is Sean Lennon's godfather. of course many people don't realize the beautiful empty garden is John the insect that damaged all the grain is Mark David Chapman rotting away in prison for the rest of his life 10 times up for parole 10 * denied maybe you're going to set a record cuz they're probably going to wheel him out feet-first like they did to Manson when he's gone. many people should look at the beautiful empty garden and look up and listen carefully to the lyrics and realize putting John Lennon story directly into that placed one of the most beautiful tributes ever

So Elton John, when he tried to kill himself, pulled a Newman. Once Newman on Seinfeld, told Kramer he was going to jump out of his window and Kramer said, I'll wave to you on the way down. Also Newman was jumping from the Ground Floor...😮

Elton John's songs weren't all that good, IMO. But, Elton's songs are grossly overplayed all over the American radio stations, just like Queen's music. I often get Billy Joel's and Elton John's songs mixed up with each other.
